“I don’t suppose you could answer a quick question for me, could you?” But of course she carried on to ask anyway. “In your experience, what turns the brain from work mode to non-work mode faster: kitten videos or ‘vines that cared for me when no one else did’?
The familiar voice pulled her attention from the newspaper in front of her as a smile crept on to her face. “Peggy.” Dottie beamed at her, pushing her glasses up a little. “Oh come now, you know I don’t watch those videos. I find a nice hot bath to be most effective, if I’m honest.”

“Well, god knows what excuse you have that makes you think you can even breathe near me.”
Dottie comes from an incredibly wealthy family that probably own that pristine hotel you’re staying in. Her family’s wealth spans back generations, but it was her parents that really took their company to the next level. Now, not only do they have hotels all along the West Coast, but they franchised further into the states and around fifteen years ago they began to branch out worldwide. Everyone knows the name Underwood, and yes, that is in fact her mother’s maiden name (she point blank refused to give up her brand after marriage).
Work isn’t exactly high on Dottie’s list of priorities, but she’s well aware that one day she will take over the company and all of the responsibility that goes with it. She’s been prepared for this her whole life and, while she knows she’s ready, she is in no rush to step into her mother’s shoes just yet.
The Underwood family were involved in a rather huge scandal a few years back thanks to Dottie. When she married into the Worthington family, her family couldn’t have been more thrilled at the idea of her marrying into a rich real estate family, but when her husband died suddenly (under mysterious circumstances) the world was quite to point their finger at the much younger heiress. However, a lack of evidence and a mix up in the forensics lab cleared her of any suspicion, but she feels as if the general public are still watching her a little too closely.
After the case went cold, Dottie lost contact with most of the Worthington family, or maybe they suspected they had killed her husband too. Not that it was that big of a loss to the world- he was an asshole. That being said, however, she still occasionally sees Warren- her husband’s nephew- and he’s always been nice enough to her.
Dottie isn’t exactly the nicest person around town, often turning her nose up at anyone she considers to be beneath her (ie, everyone). She has a reputation to uphold, you see. People like Valerie Elmar grate on her last nerve and don’t even get her started on that filthy farmer, Clint Barton. Seriously, don’t. She doesn’t want you digging too deep and realising how interested in him she really is.
Another person she doesn’t like to associate with (but 100% loves to associate with) is Peggy Carter. Dottie met the woman through her family and their need to constantly have a great lawyer on hand. For a while, that great lawyer was Peggy, but after some rather heated disagreements, Peggy walked away from the job, much to the displeasure of Dottie.

“I mean... I’m not saying it isn’t nice. All I’m saying is I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing it if it was the last piece of clothing available in Alaska.” Fashion had really deteriorated over the years and Dottie simply had so many things to say about every outfit that passed by her.

Peggy Carter had always been open-minded about the ins and outs of the world. For as long as she could remember, she had always believed that doubting the monster in your closet’s existence was foolish and you ought to plan for its potential attack regardless. She knew to doubt, to look beyond a cover-up and honestly, how pig-headed did you have to be to believe humans were the only beings in the universe? The point is she was no stranger to weird. Having Howard Stark and SHIELD in her life had done nothing but strengthen that notion for her so when she was dealing with some rather weird items down in the lower lower levels of their current HQ, she barely jumped when the rift opened. See, that was because Peggy Carter was prepared for anything and that included whatever was about to be spat out at her. Hand gripped to her gun, she steeled herself and noted the exits, noted how there wasn’t enough time to call a high alert. No, she’d have to deal with whatever was—
… Okay, so that she hadn’t expected. Being pulled in and spat back out again hadn’t been what she’d prepped for but still, she could handle the threat and judging from the damage on the street she’d been tossed out onto, there was or had been one. Bloody hell… She was in New York but something- everything- was entirely off. Wrong. If she could just— “Alright, that’s quite far enough,” she turned on her heel, gun drawn and taking no chances as she faced her adversary, “I’m an excellent shot. Now, who are you and where do your allegiances lie? I’d mostly rather we do this the easy way.”
Though her back was towards her, Dottie knew exactly who that voice belonged to. It had been quite some time since she had heard it, but it would surely take much longer than a few years for her to forget the voice that sent a tingle throughout her entire body. In the short while that she had been here, Dottie had learned that she had travelled through time and she had expected she wouldn’t be the only one, but what were the odds that Peggy Carter would be the one being tossed out behind her? The people chasing her had told her that Peggy had sent them, but while it was too risky to trust them given her situation at the time, she was also feeling rather bitter that she hadn’t come for her herself. If Peggy Carter wanted Dottie Underwood to pay her a visit, then Peggy Carter could offer up the invite herself.
Peggy, dear. Don’t you think that’s a bit of a redundant question?” Her tone was light and almost musical as her lips curled into a smirk. Her hands had been raised in the air the whole time, after hearing the click of the hammer signalling the presence of a loaded revolver. Slowly, Dottie turned to face her, the smile on her face never once faltering. “Now now. Is this really any way to treat an old friend?”

He could see her trying to figure his name out. He enjoyed seeing her put his name to his face. It was quite rare he ran into someone who didn’t know who he was. He smile as he extended out his elbow for her to take a hold of. He felt like such a hero. The way she said /you would do that for me?/ He felt a shade of pink [blue?] heat up his cheek bones. “Aye, I would.” This was what it was to be an Avenger. He did enjoy the way her eyes sparkled. He knew they would most likely sparkle even more when his face turned into stupid Thors.
“It’s all party trick, were we are headed it is not welcoming of Loki.” He said. “But, they practically worship this face.” He was highly interested to see she didn’t flinch with a hint of magic. She must not be as civilian as he thought. “Where are you from?” He asked taking her and leading her towards the building. He heard a loud eruption over head. More jets flying over head. No need to fear.“ He told her, even though it mostly was said to ease his own bit of nerves.
Despite being entirely shaken by his transformation, Dottie found herself snaking her arms around, a smile on her lips as she looked up at him. So she wasn’t all that sure about trusting him, but it would be a smart move on her part to make an ally of a shapeshifter- even if she couldn’t quite figure out how he was doing it. It made her wonder if his first face had even been his real one. “My hero.” She exhaled softly, almost a sigh, but not quite. He seemed to be responding well to her admiration making her think he might have some sort of hero complex. She could work with that.
“No? Was Loki a bad boy?” Dottie teased, a slight smirk breaking on to her features. “This face?” She appeared unfazed, “Blondes were never my type.” As he continued to speak, she shrugged her shoulders, not ready to tell him where she had come from yet- especially since she wasn’t too sure of where she was now. “Iowa.” If this place had a New York, perhaps Iowa existed here too. The jets sounded from above and, admittedly, Dottie flinched a little and gripped tighter to Loki’s arm (embarassing). She had seen jets before, but these... they sounded different and they looked larger. Where was she? Her grip relaxed again, but she remained on his arm, hugged closely to him. “Why would I fear when I have you here to protect me?”

Loki lifted a sharp ebony brow when she asked who he was. She must not be from around here. No one asked who he was when he was out of disguise “It could very well be a party.” He could feel a hint of humor. Perhaps he was a lot more like Hela then he ever cared to admit. Death was not funny. He could hear Thor’s mightiest pesky voice echo in his ear, about misguardian life and being the hero. It wasn’t funny. “Dot” He tasted her name. “Loki.” He informed her. “As much as I like our little introduction. I do recommend you go somewhere safe. The Baxter building is where civilians are being held. I can escort you there somewhat.” He smiled.

Loki’s skin formed and transformed to mock his brother. “They do not care for me there. I am still a touchy subject. Come on lass. I shall lead you to safety. From now on call me Thor..” He smiled. It was so weird to wear the form of his brother.
Dottie wasn’t too sure what to make of this man, his delight at the carnage around them making her think there was something more to him than one might assume. On top of that, his accent did nothing but remind her of a certain gal from a few years back. “Loki.” She repeated his name back to him. It was a strange name, but somehow it suited him. At his next words, Dottie had to resist the urge to roll her eyes- her, a civilian! Could you imagine? She didn’t need his protection, but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t accept it. “You would do that for me?” A grin spread across her lips as a sigh passed by them; feeble, airhead was one of her favourite covers to play.
However, before she could make her classic move of gripping on to his arm- feigning a need for help- his face changed and she gasped. “How did-... How is that possible?”

Nebula hated nothing more than running into someone who didn’t understand what was going on. Nebula herself wasn’t someone who enjoyed explaining things–if she wanted to deal with idiotic children she would be a teacher and not an assassin–so to find herself on a planet filled with so many questions was exhausting. “Aliens.” She barked shortly, feeling as though that was rather self-explanatory. The woman in front of her reminded her of some of the sticky pink candy she’d tried since coming to terra. Of course, so did most of the terrans she had met, so that was nothing particularly new. “They invaded again, apparently this hell-hole is just so interesting that that no race can avoid trying to capture it.”
She felt that she was being fairly diplomatic, explaining the situation pretty well, but she’d also had several other terrans throw things at her as if they thought she was one of the attackers, so with a bored tone, she made sure to clarify. “I am not one of them, this planet hold no interest for me.”
“Oh my-...” Dottie’s hand flew to her chest as she took in the... being’s appearance. Was that her skin? Was she a robot? Perhaps Dottie should have done a complete one-eighty and returned to her fate beyond the void, but she was... intrigued. Her hand dropped again as she tried to regain her composure; the last thing she needed was to offend this strange person. “The aliens invaded... again.” Did she just stumble through a secret doorway into that Area 51 place that was in the news a few years back? Was this blue lady a part of all that controversy? “Right... this-...” She glanced around them, suddenly realising that she was standing in Downtown New York. How... strange.
“And what of you?” Dottie raised a brow, “You’re not one of them- that is obvious- but who, then, are you? Why are you here if you have no interest in staying? Have you been fighting these... things.?”

Leaving Natasha to finish cleaning up with whatever alien she was dealing with now had been something that boarded on painful, but Bruce knew well enough that right now he was more liability than help, since the Other Guy was pretty content to just linger around in the back of his head doing nothing. Pouting he thought, at least back when he was trying to get the Hulk to fight Thanos. Now though, it felt more like laughing. Fun to watch puny Banner be no help to friends, all friends like Hulk most now.
Ha-fucking-ha, Bruce thought bitterly, now cruising through the streets and narrowly avoiding getting trampled on his way towards the Baxter Building. While avoiding stepping in a pile of what was very clearly smoldering alien goo, Bruce weaved a little too much to the left and stepped directly into the path of someone else. He mumbled out a quick excuse me, but turned when she asked him a question, taking her in for the first time. Bruce was a few years out of fashion himself, but the way she was dressed gave him pause and his brow creased. "Alien attack,“ he said matter of factly, because most New Yorkers were aware of this by now, though…probably not a New Yorker, was she. "We’ve got it under control. Mostly,” he added, giving her a tight grin.
“Alien?” She gasped, her tone coloured with disbelief- something she didn’t necessarily have to fake. Where on earth had this strange tear taken her to? Was it used for teleportation? Something similar? Dottie could see that she wasn’t dressed as someone from the fifties would dress, but time travel was surely too out there. “You sound awfully calm for someone who is in the midst of an alien attack.” She didn’t believe him; something he could probably hear in her voice. No, this couldn’t be aliens. A science experiment gone wrong? Definitely. But aliens? Leviathan could certainly have created creatures like this, but surely she would have heard of such experimentation.
Dottie was well aware that she couldn’t simply ask where she was. She would have to figure that out on her own. Her style was already giving her away, she couldn’t very well add to any suspicion of her. “Where did they come from?” If she wasn’t on Earth right now, she was about to start throwing punches.
