Sina Entertainment reports on the night of April 22nd, Huang Zitao’s father opened a Weibo, and wrote down the following message, casting a heavy weight, revealing that with his support, he is demanding that his son’s contract with SM Entertainment is nullified.
Tao’s father’s post is as follows:
To the friends who follow Huang Zitao, hello, I am Huang Zitao’s father.
Writing the following weibo post my feelings are very complicated, because I know that my decision will hurt many people, including my son Huang Zitao. Although I tried to explained this to Zitao very well, but in his heart he still might not be able to understand or even more, he might even blame me for my selfishness, along the way I know how much he likes his group, how persevering he is towards his job, so whether or not I should let him leave Korea became the problem in my head for many days and my most painful decision… But being a father, I must, and I have the responsibility to let him grow up healthily and happily, I cannot bear to see him continuously showing problems with his body! Between staying in Korea to be a star and to be healthy and safe, without thinking twice I will pick the latter!
In my eyes, strength, tenacity, perseverance and persistence are values that a man must have. So we let him go learn Wushu, since he was young we developed him to bear hardships and work hard. Letting him earn money and learn music and dance, is also to develop him to be a self-sufficient labourer. Since being a singer is his dream and his choice, he must work for his dream, and pay the price for his own decision.
Huang Zitao never let me down, he did all of these, and has always been our whole family’s pride and glory! But what I didn’t expect, was that in the time after debut which was only three years, Huang Zitao’s body was already left with scars both big and small. Waist pain, Body pain, Leg pain and much more, therefore every performance afterwards, no matter if I’m at the performance or if I’m at home, as long as he performs his martial arts tricking I am just scared for him, afraid his old scars will be aggravated. Especially when he performs overseas, sometimes the stage is slippery, sometimes it may rain, before the performance I always reiterate that if the stage is slippery or if it’s raining and your safety can’t be guaranteed then just don’t do your flips. But every time he always says he doesn’t want to let everyone down, and he’d comfort me telling me for sure he will be safe. In the end every time I only find out through Weibo how he got hurt again, it is such an heartache for me! Not being able to take care of him all the time, sometimes I can’t contact him and I can’t go to the performance, that kind of heartache cannot be put into words, the feeling of staying at home with a heavy heart holding my phone and waiting for any news, other people will not understand this.
In other people’s eyes, I should be very blessed with a very happy family – my son is a celebrity after all. But how will these people know the countless nights where I toss and turn because of the pain of worrying for my son. This time, I went against all odds to bring Zitao back to recover from his injury. The night I went to Korea, company officials talked to me about Zitao’s future pathway. What they said was reminiscent of their initial promises of establishing a special team for Zitao for his domestic performances. Of course, I discussed the many details with them very excitedly and happily. The company said after Tao signs the contract; they will announce it alongside with the news of the other members. In the end, we discussed until the final stages where all that was left was to sign the contract, I was still in Korea and I witnessed the announcement of other member’s future plans…..….I have much to say but there is too much that I am left speechless.
Zitao did not receive the company’s support, yet instead he obtained injuries all over his body. What was the point of us persevering in the first place? In between all the torment, I decided to bring Zitao home for treatment, only to find out the optimal time for treatment has passed. The injuries that Tao sustains will cause great damage to the entirety of Tao’s health if they do not recover properly. Just like the last straw on a camel’s back, this urged me to firmly decide for Tao’s return. To parents, there is nothing more important than their own child’s health. Compared to the bouquets, applauses, spotlight, and fame, the first priority in our hearts will always be his health and safety.
Finally, I would like to express my apologies and gratitude to the company and the members of EXO: I am thankful for the three years the company have nurtured Huang Zitao, as well as the members who showed care and concern towards him. At the same time, I would like to apologise to all the fans who love Huang Zitao and EXO. I know my decision will deeply hurt everyone, but please understand a father’s desperate gestures. I’m sorry!
