I just wanna say, if you aren't American, definitely try setting a modern AU in your country. Fill it with the things you know, to breathe life into it. It's really nice to see new settings, to open up a fic and go 'oh wait, hold up, I know that place'. It might only apply to a few people who read your fic but it's really rewarding to get that feedback.

also fics that localize the action to Not America are extremely interesting and show a lot of people something new and wonderful, while also letting the writer express their own love for their own place. it's a win/win.

If you're trans I think it's important that you know that TERFs are using anti-trans rhetoric to stop autistic people from transitioning. Autistic people are highly likely to be trans, genderqueer, nb, or otherwise gnc.
As a non-binary and autistic individual, I am terrified.
People ask, why do we still have pride? Why do we have to have an entire pride month? THIS IS WHY. If we stop fighting even for a second, the homophobes/transphobes sneak out the woodwork and suddenly gain all of this power. What is it about change that makes people so scared? Scared enough to hate us and want to punish us for trying to be our true selves?
Being non-binary isn't even a recognised identity in the UK. I am valid. I exist. We all do and we are not going to take this sitting down.
