Hey all, it's been forever

I am posting this to all of my offical accounts to announce that they are going to be effectively archived. I just do not feel as into the community as I was when I first made my accounts and burnout is a bitch, I just graduated highschool this past monday and unfortunately it is just too much to balance for me.

You guys want some old literature facts? Here's some highlights :3

The oldest known book to date is the Epic of Gilgamesh. Its thought to be from 2100 BCE! The Iliad and Odyssey are the most influential western literature, from around the 8th century (also bce)

There are a lot of records of religious poetry such as the Exeter Book, which contains poems such as Christ. Creative naming i know

Dream of the Rood, a poem contained in the Vercilli Book, is known as one of the more beautiful poems from ages past

As for prose writing, the old English King Alfred the Great was known to translate from Latin into Old English, securing his place in history. Scientific books were also popping up around this time!

Please, you're too kind! Lately, I've been reading a lot of OLD literature, like the Iliad and the Odyssey, oddly enough. I've also read some more modern classic literature like Lord of the Flies recently! <3

I don't know what you'd like to hear specifically but I can rant about old nursery rhymes! (Sorry, not sorry @massivegaynerd who has heard all of this already)

So you guys know the rhyme Little Miss Muffet?

"Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet eating her curds and whey, there came a big spider who sat down beside her and frightened Miss Muffet away"

That one? so the funny thing is we have literally no idea what a tuffet is. The american version of this rhyme changed whey to pie, which make ssense i guess, but through most of the iterations of this rhyme, tuffet has remained. sometimes its spelled toffet, but even then its practically meaningless

There are other versions like "little Mary Ester sat on a tester", "Little Miss Muffet sat on a buffet" and "Little Miss Mopsey sat in the shopsey" that all have pretty simple meanings, but literally nobody knows what the hell a tuffet is

nowadays a tuffet is a low seat of some sort, but our best guess is that the 'tuffet' that Little Miss Muffet sat on is actually something like a hilltop, a variant spelling of the word tuft, given that there are earlier recordings of tuffet being a word for tuft that date back to the 16th century, likely as they have the same root word, tuffete.

So yeah, we have no idea WHAT little miss muffet sat on
