NOVEMBER 2, 2022 • 2:15AM
At first, she couldn’t feel a thing. Azzi Fudd had been running so hard prior to it, her breaths still quick matching the rhythm that she ran as she dusted any possible noise behind her. Azzi should’ve went back to the dorms where she would be assured safe but she couldn’t, she couldn’t possibly go back to the place she was at last. It felt so fake, everything about it felt like some type of dream that she would soon wake up from but she remained frozen in this timeline. Her cries making her rock back and forth in hopes to soothe herself, her trembling hands cradling her face and that was barely even enough to contain the sobs slipping past her lips. She was wiping her tears with the palm of her hand, a shake of her head, swallowing harshly as she lifted her head to look at the stars above.
“God, please.” Azzi whispered an inhale so sharp after that, a quick breath catch and every exhale she let passed her lips was another sob. Her mind was playing tricks on her, the reality of only three minutes ago replayed in her mind on a slow loop only making her heart crush more every few seconds. The look on Paige’s face replayed in her head—she was so scared, she could tell how scared she’d been when she left her. She sat with her knees underneath her at the pier, the water beneath her silent with the night just as she leaned forward on her hands to hold herself up with her chest heaving violently trying to gasp for any type of air. “Oh my god, oh my god.” She repeated in an utter shock.
The blonde had told her to go. She listened to her, she actually listened to her and she hated herself for it.
She’d never felt like this, a pain that was so deep, the feeling was so new. Azzi hadn’t felt a pain like this in her entire life, this was different. “Azzi?” Her name being called only made her look up, her eyes bloodshot as she shot up to her feet whilst both Melissa and Dahlia were walking down the pathway. The two girls had been the first people she called, two girls with nothing but confusion on their faces, dressed in their sleeping clothes as they approached their friend. “She’s gone.” Azzi cried out, she tried to stop her cries the best she could but she felt even more weak with them coming to her aid.
“Who’s gone?” Melissa questioned her, tugging her jacket tighter over her shoulders.
“Paige…she’s gone.” Her crying slowly started to spiral into a panic again, she could truly feel her heart crushing in her chest. “Oh Azzi..” Melissa whispered out because they both knew exactly what had took place tonight making them both move forward to embrace her, their arms went around her easy and they hadn’t even been holding her for five seconds before the brunette sunk to the ground with her tears. Melissa and Dahlia both followed her, their positions awkward but they couldn’t possibly move away from her not even for a second of adjustment. Azzi basically gave out in their arms as she cried, they could feel how viscous she was shaking in their arms just making them both squeeze her tighter.
Azzi tried to explain it, her words jumbled up with her cries but nothing could even be coherent coming from her mouth. Dahlia was speechless as she held her friend, her head slowly turning towards Melissa as they both locked eyes. It was way past what they thought, whatever their friend had shared with her was something neither of them could fathom. “It’s okay Azzi.” Dahlia’s voice came out, trying to reassure her just with her hand rubbing against her back. “Don’t explain anything to us right now. It’s okay, I promise you it’ll be okay.” Melissa didn’t even care for the girl but that was the last thing on her mind, her friend was so heartbroken, they could listen to it in her cries. With them whispering that sweet story to her, she could only wonder if it could even be close to the truth?
Only since she knew for a fact, nothing would ever be okay again.
“Cut.” Azzi Fudd peered down to the folder in front of her, reading over the name a few times before she lifted her head back up to the beautiful mixed girl standing before her. The girl looked fairly young and she could practically feel the excitement that was brewing out of her, she just knew that the girl wanted an opportunity and she hated she couldn’t be the one to give that to her. “Tiana, right?” Azzi asked, the room being a pale white with the simple table sitting in front of her with the sunlight shining clear through the broad window next to her. Tiana was standing up straight, her braids fanning down her back as she stood on the taped X in the middle of the floor, the script a curled circle in her hands. Azzi indefinitely had to applaud her for that, she didn’t look at the script once, she could see her determination but the act itself was all wrong.
Tiana was nodding her head, her smile a pearly white. “What were you thinking about while doing this?” Azzi questioned, her question coming from a genuine concern as she rested her hands together in front of her.
“My character losing the love of her life.”
Azzi shook her head, her curls loosely hitting the sides of her face. “You were thinking about what losing the love of your life is supposed to look like. I don’t feel your emotions with watching you do this, I shouldn’t feel you acting.” Azzi’s intent was sharp but her voice was a soft melody making whatever she spoke truly genuine—Tiana only watched her, standing in place. “You’re sad because the script is telling you to be sad but I can’t feel your emotion with watching you today. You’re amazing and I’ll definitely keep you in consideration, you could go far but this role specifically isn’t for you.” Azzi clicked her pen shut, sitting it down next to her portfolio.
“I understand. I wanna thank you for this opportunity anyway, it’s a blessing to be standing in front of you both. I appreciate your time.” Azzi smiled at her then, nodding her head. “Thank you for coming.” Tiana could only exit the casting room then and when the door softly clicked shut behind her, the brunette only had trailed her eyes over to Melissa who was sitting next to her with that same look. Even she knew that the girl wasn’t it but the time crunch that they had on getting a selected cast down was only getting shorter and shorter; Azzi knew that well too, it only made her stand and excuse herself, she left the casting room, the only sound left behind her being her Steve Madden black strapped heels clacking the solid ground beneath her.
Azzi found her office shortly at the end of the hall, pushing open the door so that she could finally let her shoulders drop. The spaghetti-strap black bodysuit holding her figure snug, she paired the bodysuit with a pair of Marine Seere black moon jeans that made her thighs look nice. The girls curls a contained fluff framing her sweet face, simply gloss and lashes to bless her face. Azzi still only wore silver accessories, she switched out her bracelets for a watch with her Pandora hooped earrings. It was two soft knocks to her door that made her head raise, she sighed with seeing Melissa stepping inside just as Azzi leaned against her desk. “You okay?” Melissa questioned, walking further inside towards her.
Azzi only nodded, a small smile was the only thing she could muster. “We only have five more auditions for the part before we have to start routing back to last options.” Azzi knew that, making her nod again. “You sure you okay?”
The two women had graduated UConn top of their class, together. They both had gotten their degrees in business and Azzi’s masters in films, as soon as she graduated, she moved on to other opportunities. It was hard at first seeing as she couldn’t even get herself up out of bed for the remainder of her sophomore year, she became a completely different person then and could still only wonder would her life look the same as it is now without all the sacrifices it took. If you would’ve told her four years ago that she would’ve been here now, in her own shit, under her own name? Azzi would’ve never believed you, she might’ve laughed in your face.
If it wasn’t for the grace of God or the other two individuals in her life, she was sure she wouldn’t be here. Azzi breathed a fully frustrated breath from her nose, leaning back completely on her hands. “None of this is right. Nobody is moving me Lissa, I don’t know what I’m chasing.” The film was in the making to be completed by early January of next year, it was no way that she was making her deadline in time with no cast. “What would feel right?” Melissa questioned her, she still was her audio expert making her the first person she hired when she opened began her establishment.
Azzi was quiet then, looking down to her wine red acrylics before her head came up. “I’m trying to see myself. I don’t feel anything with them, I wanna feel emotion, make me feel something other than watching you cry in my face.” She shook her head, she tried not to get too frustrated with the auditions but with it now being only her and Melissa, she could finally express accordingly. “I don’t need someone who can cry on cue, I wanna feel that shit.” Melissa nodded in automatic agreement with her frustrations, a fresh silk press in her own hair.
“The actors aren’t even the problem here.” Azzi vented, “Maybe, the story only makes sense enough to me because I lived it.” This would be her first movie being in actual production, all of her other rough drafts didn’t reach out to her like her own story did. It was a rough trial though with having to make her past her reality again, she tried in every way to go a different route but all paths led back to the blonde girl from college. Everything she ever did up until now was for the movie, she had so many productions lined up within her project plus she had people ready for any review she tossed their way. Azzi had been a silent mouse as of recently and felt like a failure because she couldn’t even get past something as simple as the casting segment.
Melissa shook her head, the woman in her own pantsuit, still holding her strict eyes. “It’s not only an important topic but it’s the most perfect story ever. The casting is the most important part if you tryna get it right, it may take you a little longer but that’s the beauty of it. If we have to push the date back, we’ll push it back.” Melissa states, a careless shrug of her shoulders. “I want this to be perfect too by any means.”
Azzi smiled, the tension finally leaving her face. “Production won’t hold us for long though.”
“I’ll talk with production. You just worry about promoting more auditions, this our shit.” Azzi was more than ecstatic, she was so happy that she had someone like Melissa on her team. The girl had never made her regret with bringing her own for head audio, she deserved the spot in full. Melissa was even pulling out her phone now to send something she assumed while Azzi moved behind her desk. “Was that the last audition for today?” Melissa nodded her head, Azzi slugged her black cardigan she had sitting on the back of her chair then grabbed her own phone off her desk afterwards. The brunette came back around with her fingers responding to the few messages she missed and Melissa followed her out as they left her office, the two women chatted together before they had reached the front lobby where Kaitlyn, the receptionist beamed in their direction.
“Hello queens.” Kaitlyn had to be the youngest on her staff, a cousins of Melissa who worked front desk with her own perks of working in a production company while still in high school. “Good afternoon Kait, I’m heading out.” Azzi said, reaching her hand up to grab her Micheal Kors outlet bag from Kaitlyn.
“I might be a little late tomorrow, my boyfriend is probably taking me for breakfast. That okay?” Melissa shook her head making Azzi smile as she looked her way. “That would be the third time this week, his ass better start coming up here if he wants you to have breakfast.” Kaitlyn frowned, her jaw even dropping a bit as her eyes shifted to Azzi who was backing away from the situation with her hands held up.
“Don’t look at me, I just work here. Goodnight you two.” Azzi finalized and she could still hear Kaitlyn protest but she pushed out of the door anyway. August was a bit more colder in Storrs than usual, it made matters no better that it was a gloomy Thursday. Azzi was upmost sure that it’ll probably rain tonight, it’s actually been raining all week long, outside smelled wet and a thick humidity filled her nose aside it. Azzi heels tumbled down the sidewalk as she approached the tinted out truck, she opened the door and slid inside to the leathered seats. The girl was a grown woman now and still hadn’t been to fond of driving, she had her own chauffeur who took her anywhere her heart desired. Whom originally waited outside and opened it for her but Azzi had been told him it’s to embarrassing and the man never did it again. “Going home?” Stanley questioned with his eyes raising and she nodded her head, sitting back as he pulled away from her company instantly.
It was so hard to become who she was after what happened to her. It was an adjustment then and even now, it’s still a part of her life that will forever remain in mourning. She had to start avoiding certain streets and smells if it ever reminded her of the blonde, she’d get entirely sick and the dread swallows her whole everytime.
The brunette could even smell the air of that day when it would get really bad—the sirens that were so loud, swallowing the only sound that they last shared. Azzi still remembered her tone, the memory itself still stuck in her mind and the most important pieces of it lived rent free in her mind. It’s been four years and it still felt like it happened yesterday, she could only rest her head back against the seat, the car shaking her just a little from the deep potholes. Once Stanley pulled up, she grabbed her bag and hopped out. “You can go home too, I might stay in for the night.” Azzi said, brushing her hair out her face.
“You sure?” Stanley was a nice older man whom been working for her for a vivid two years, she knew him well and only sent him a tight lipped smile. “Yes, I’m fine. Goodnight Stanley, kiss Bea for me.” Once he returned it, she shut the door of the truck and he didn’t pull off until she disappeared completely inside of the complex. The woman sitting in front had waved at her and she smiled in her direction, lifting her hand to wiggle her fingers as she carried on her way. The brunette stepped inside of the elevator to her designated floor and soon as the doors slid shut, she leaned back against the wall with a deep breath.
Azzi could cry right now. She could feel it in her throat but tried to make the emotions disperse with one swallow. The girl shook her head once the doors slid back open, she stepped out and down the hallway to the duplex penthouse that she’s been staying in. This had been her only home that she had since she left her parents house, once she had graduated college, she did return back to Virginia momentarily before she decided to come back. She wished she could say it was for something other than her career and even though it helped it just a tad, she knew she didn’t return here for just that. Azzi lifted her foot to finally unstrap herself from her heels, leaning against her door to hold herself up as she groaned from the pain. As soon as she got them off, her feet patted against the ground as she went back to her bedroom.
The expansive space had high cathedral ceilings with oversized windows that allowed the natural light to seep in, there had been a lot of open space with granite counters and a spacious outside balcony that she paid a visit atleast once a day. The interior inside being a bright white—she flicked her light on for the bathroom, she went over towards the marble shower instantly to reach her hand inside to twist it on. She knew the hot water would be able to wash all these woes away, she needed them gone as soon as possible before she snapped. Azzi slid off her clothes piece by piece, leaving everything outside of the bathroom before she stepped inside of the steam.
As soon as she got inside, she tried to fight the feeling but they came out of her eyes firstly anyway. Azzi wasn’t even making any sound, she only washed herself underneath the water as the tears slid down her cheeks. The pain still felt so close, it’s never left her, even after this whole time, it’ll never go anywhere. Azzi nowadays could only wonder if she was even still alive, they were able to keep up only for the first two months. Azzi remembered when she received her first letter from her, even though it could never compare to being wrapped within her, she was happy. The letters were the only thing that kept her rooted where she was, she counted on them daily since she’d been locked up.
Both Dahlia and Melissa of course had been there. It wasn’t like Azzi could call her family to cry about her girlfriend who was not only a felon but a drug dealer had been arrested and or how it was making her so sick, it could’ve been the thing that killed her. The entire campus had went into havoc though—headlines were insane, ‘UConn Makes Graduates or Gang Members?’. Paige left the story behind of what it was like being a dealer while in school, the rumors started slow at first before they even reached Azzi and she felt more hatred towards herself for not being able to protect her. All this time, she still blamed herself for what took place that night, she could only wish she could’ve saved her.
People were dragging her name through the mud and it made her fall into a silent deep depression, it all seemed so slow though, the hours would tick by and days would fade away but it didn’t feel like it. Her connection she use to have with the everyday world faded—she took for granted the help she had in the beginning from fighting with the fact that she even needed help at all. Azzi had gotten to the point where she wouldn’t cry anymore, she would just let the ache take over everything. It ruined days before they even began, it made her empty to any news but still pushed to stay afloat with the everyday life she had to live but didn’t necessarily want to. She couldn’t explain to her mommy even when she’d ask her what was wrong, how could she have explained the one person who kept her breathing was no longer in her life? To the woman who gave her life. It would be to sick, she couldn’t.
After her lengthy shower, she was now dressed in her matching long-sleeved satin set with the white buttons trailing down her stomach. The brunette smelling of a sweet cupcake, she was going down the hallway with her feet now in comfortable socks as she headed towards the balcony in her living room. Azzi had slid the door back, stepping out into the warm air. The sun had settled and it felt even better outside now without all that extra wind, she left her door cracked behind her just as she popped a squat to sit down on the floor. Azzi had her balcony decorated slightly with the fake grass underneath her, she even had a cotton beanbag chair out there but she didn’t feel like sitting in it tonight.
She was so happy it ended up not raining, it just remained a gloomy hue for the entire day but now the sky had been a pitch black. Azzi sat the container down in front of her to pop it open. She pulled out the preroll, the bedazzled lighter coming out next just as she leaned back against her glass door. Azzi had brought the blunt to her lips, flicking the lighter once but couldn’t catch it but that second time she was able to ignite the end making it beam a bright red.
She inhaled it, soon as she could, she felt the smoke seeping in and down to her lungs. She dragged it in hard before pulling it away from her lips making her head go backwards—her curls falling behind her as she blew the smoke towards the air. The noises of the busy traffic below her zoned out to this very moment, she instantly felt herself relax against the door before bringing it to her mouth again to inhale. Azzi had dabbled into it even in college when she knew it wasn’t really her taste but out of curiosity, just to feel a slither of what Paige felt, she did it. She missed her that much, it eased her just enough to give her a comfort with what happened.
Especially when she faced one by herself. The brunette didn’t even realize she picked the bad habit up until it was too late. Although, there could be worse situations—she only did it at night when she knew no one else would have to see her, she took the twenty minute break from the world just to feel her. At least once a day.
Within those twenty minutes, the ache she felt finally vanished, the wonders of her mind finally went to quiet whispers. The guilt that she continued to carry with her from what happened that night wasn’t there anymore, she could just sit there, inhaling it swifter and deeper with each hit. And just on certain occasions; if she thought about it just hard enough, stayed still for a certain amount of time, she could feel her. Azzi felt like Paige was sitting right in front of her, watching her with her ocean eyes. It wasn’t her though and it’d never be her, the smoke wouldn’t be able to bring her back but it made everything okay even if it was only brief. It felt so good too even when the blunt was completed and out in the ashtray by now, she still sat there with her knees to her chest as the wind blew her curls gracefully.
Azzi’s eyes lowed but she kept an unfocused stare locked onto the world beneath her. She held herself, letting the high dull the ache just enough to make her survive tonight.
The brunette had no more tears just sitting in the silence of what could’ve been.

Brown Pictures had been established in late 2024. It was her main focus after she graduated college, she wanted her own production company. She already had been gaining her own name with her short films from school, she had started a small YouTube channel that of course sky rocketed in subscribers with her new title now but it was definitely hard to gain the audience she has. During the makings of it, she couldn’t brag that was until she knew she could have trust in the team she was building and what she was creating for the entire world to see. She registered her own business after gaining clearance, she was raising all of the money from her own pockets too seeing as she was left with a more than generous amount from her special someone.
Azzi couldn’t touch the money for years. She washed her comforter and sheets relentlessly and still felt like she couldn’t get the smell of her out. It was a lot of things she put on pause just for the sake of being unable to, she felt so weak without having the blonde with her. People noticed but nobody asked seeing as those who did, she stayed having that pretty reassuring smile and consistent answer.
It was now 2026 though and she finally got enough distributors to back up her new film and was releasing—her first film of all; ‘HeartBeat’, it wasn’t even a trailer out but she had a leak of her production releasing next year. Of course, deadlines could’ve always been pushed back but Azzi wanted to be realistic. She didn’t wanna run from it, she loved sitting with the chaos but her casting was truly killing her. Azzi was decided that she couldn’t just put anyone on television of course but she also couldn’t just let anyone play her part, she was looking for true talent and anything less than that was being sent out the door.
She felt extra good this morning though, today was determined to be a great day, the sun had been shining early morning for the first this week. Azzi told Stanley bye when she slid out the car before twisting and walking up towards the entrance, her red bottom Christian Louboutin’s started that familiar clack beneath her. She hadn’t worn these yet, she decided with a fresh pair of heels for a fresh day. Azzi had her hair pulled to the top of her head with a neat updo, of course a few strands fell from it that could only curl at the edges of her face. A fitted Cider black top, zipped completely up the front with a pair of Fashion Nova wide legged pants.
The brunette even had silver hoops in her ears, way bigger than yesterday’s with her black clutch in grip. As she walked inside, she already had the smile on her face with seeing Kaitlyn on time behind the desk. “I just knew I was gonna have to fire you.” Kaitlyn stalefaced her, her lips pursing. “Don’t play with me right now. You have three meetings today, your first is in thirty minutes.” Azzi nodded her head, she went over her schedule for today on the way over three times, she was stacked today with meetings.
“Lissa here?” Azzi asked her, leaving her bag at the front desk and pulling the Gucci shades off her eyes. She even handed that to Kaitlyn who gladly took both, tucking it underneath the desk in its usual spot.
“Yes ma’am, should be in her office.” Azzi thanked her before walking off, her office not to far of a distance as she approached the door and knocked on it. After she heard Melissa granting her access, she pushed open the door, she knew better than to walk in without knocking like last time. “Good morning,” Azzi said, trailing towards her small fridge she had in the corner and bending over to grab the ice mountain waters that Melissa kept cool in her office. She wasn’t in the mood for any coffee today and she knows it’ll just clog her throat, the water went down smooth when she sipped it, she already felt herself more active from the single sip.
“Morning sunshine. I was just looking over your schedule, why the hell do you have so many meetings today?” Azzi groaned, her head tipping back as she leaned herself comfortably against the small stand towards the corner whilst Melissa sat behind her own desk clicking on her mouse. “It’s to go over financials, they’ve been up my ass with them. I thought about pushing the meeting back because it’s just another thing to stress about but I’m a get it over with. Remember though, my last is around noon so auditions start at one. Did you send out another flyer?”
Melissa nodded her head. “Yes ma’am, I even put some on TikTok. I have a good feeling about today for some reason, I think this might be it.”
“I hope so. I don’t wanna go back to last calls, those girls were good but I still don’t feel anything.” Azzi sipped her water again, her heels clacking with her few steps to go over to the few portfolios that Melissa just had sitting out. The girls office is normally more cluttered than this so Azzi had been proud of her for keeping it atleast an organized mess, she trailed her acrylic over the folder before flipping it open. “This people for today?”
“Yess, some of them sent pictures early so I was able to get them printed out.” Ashanti Paxton. The brown skin toned girl had a pretty bright smile but Azzi’s eyes suddenly attached onto the teal colored braces on her teeth, she looked innocent though and much more younger than her actual age which was twenty-two. Azzi could hear Melissa standing up to her feet now and making her way closer towards her, looking over the picture herself. “She has braces.” Azzi announced, lifting her own eyes up now to catch Melissa nodding.
“I know but I couldn’t turn her away for some reason. She has that pretty face but it’s something loose and intense about it, you really think the braces a deal breaker?” The brunette was silent suddenly as her eyes trailed down to most of her accomplishments and a few links to short films she decided to include on her resume, she felt conflicted but she seen her education status making her nod her head. “Ouu, currently enrolled to UConn? Good shit.” Azzi reached her hand up to make them shake hands with still reading the sheet, Melissa’s laughter loud as their hands shook.
It was something about the girls face that had Azzi captured just off one photo, she clicked her tongue for a minute before she shrugged. “We’ll see. Send this to my email, I’m a go over these films during my meetings.” Melissa immediately agreed and that’s when Azzi had spun and left, sipping on her water again as she made her way towards her own office. These meetings were going to be a killer, each one had been scheduled to be an hour and thirty long, she knew she’d probably have to skip lunch to prepare for auditions.
With her stepping inside, she easily went over towards her desk. All she could really do is breathe, slow and deep inhales and exhales as she logged onto her computer. It was going to be such a busy ass day and all she could think about is what she had waiting for her at home when this was all over, she loved her life and everything about it but she could never be to graceful for long before her mind drifts back to what use to be. All she had were thoughts at the moment just as her smile fixed on her face with the first meeting beginning,

Melissa Thorton was her own icon. She hadn’t always been on Azzi’s team, she started in her own element at first just to try and find her footing. It was fun when she was her own boss but she realized she soon enough had wanted to be apart of something big and was so grateful when her best friend offered her the spot in head of audio. A lot of people may knew Melissa as her best friend, they were always anywhere and everywhere together if anyone spotted them. If you seen Azzi, you seen Melissa whom also won the title of best sound design at a music festival for the second year in a row. When Azzi was silent, she would pop into other things, she had always gotten favors of working on audio for different films.
Melissa opt at times to be silent with her so they would show face on projects together but Azzi makes her anyway. She loved her spot in Brown Pictures though and what she did here outcasted anything else she could possibly accomplish—she wanted her all into her first actual project with this production, Azzi never failed to remind her that this is her film as well making them bias on the actual leader. They just had a set program here and it’s been working for years, she was stuffing her phone inside of Zara mid-rise jeans with walking down the hall, the sounds of her buckled high heels tapped against the ground. Melissa wore a fitted white Micas asymmetrical buttoned shirt, the opposite side rising just enough for a flash of her flat stomach to show. “Good morning everyone, I’m Melissa! Thank you so much for coming by here today, me and Azzi both so excited to meet you all. I know auditions can be nerve-wracking but just be yourself and you’ll do fine, we’re only looking for honest performances. Good luck to you all, we’ll be beginning shortly.” It was a handful of girls who stood in the lobby, Melissa honestly was introducing herself to see if she could catch Ashanti but with her eyes scanning over all the girls, she didn’t see her.
It made her mentally frown but she gave them one last good luck and even shook a few of the girls hands before she spun and walked the few steps to the casting room. When she stepped inside, her eyes went to Azzi who was trying to eat her Chipotle bowl as quick as she could. “Please slow down before you choke like last time.” Azzi’s eyes narrowed as they lifted from her food. “I thought I told you not to bring that up anymore.” Azzi moved her hand to grab her Snapple, she brought it to her lips just as Melissa laughed.
“I went out there to see what’s tea and why didn’t I see our husky?” Azzi shook her head. “Our husky? Lissa, you already giving her a nickname? You know we can’t show favoritism.” The brunette had been fastening her food and pushed it off to the side. “I know but it was just something about her—I don’t know, I’m probably tripping.”
“Would she have been there when we went?” Melissa tilted her head at the question, thinking for a moment. “She probably would’ve been what—a sophomore by the time we were seniors? Her folder say she graduating this year.”
Azzi tried not to get to excited herself, after as many auditions as they’ve been through for this part, she honestly had been losing all hope. If she didn’t find her certain someone today then they had no choice at this point to just backtrack; the excitement Melissa had was stuck with her during her meetings and even going over some of the films that Ashanti had, the girl had talent, she had hoped to see it in person.
Her not being here though sort of crushed it. “Maybe, she’ll be here for last call. Let’s just see who we have now.” Melissa agreed after hearing it, she had went over to the black Sony camera firstly that sat high on the sturdy tripod. Two soft LED lights hung from the ceiling with a grey backdrop, it helped bringing the person to the center giving each participant nowhere to hide. Melissa set a quiet click to the camera, being sure it was angled to perfection before walking away and heading towards the door. She pulled it open, “First person!” Melissa backed up then and Azzi watched the girl come inside, she quickly heard Melissa shut the door behind her and went to her ordinary seat next to her.
The casting room at this point started to feel like a revolving door. Fifteen auditions fulfilled with the same look, the same sound, everything about them was not the look that she had been hoping for. Fifteen actresses who cried at all the right moments, hit every dialogue mark but left Azzi feeling jack shit. The side of her that tended to not get upset with these females was slowly yet surely breaking, she huffed as she sat back in her chair, tossing her pen down. “Last call?” Melissa questioned and she nodded her head, they still hadn’t even seen Ashanti and honestly Azzi had a feeling she probably wouldn’t show.
Melissa was standing from the chair, tiredly walking her legs over towards the door to pull it open. The lobby was empty, the girls had all left making Kaitlyn really be the only one sitting at the desk, her fingers moving fast against her phone and Melissa had a feeling her and her boyfriend had probably been into it again bad. “Was there anymore girls, Kait?” She tried and Kaitlyn quickly shook her head, her eyes never leaving her phone. “Unt-uh.” She turned then, going back into the casting room, slowly shutting the door behind her.
“Nobody?” Azzi asked making Melissa shake her head.
Azzi sighed then, looking back down at Ashanti’s folder in front of her. “We could stick with the other girl from earlier this week. The one with the short hair, we probably have to get her extensions.” Melissa lifted her head, going over towards the table. “I can try to push production back again, see if they’ll pivot—,” Azzi shook her own head though, it’s been to long and as much as she wanted to continue with auditions, it was time to cut it. She needed this out by January and at the point she was at now, she knew she’d just have to move on to the next.
“We start auditions for the rest of the crew next week. I’ll have my pick by Saturday morning, email me everyone again so I can go through it.” Azzi was shutting her folder then, clasping her hands to rest her forehead on them and when Melissa had went to speak was when a sudden knock on the door made them both look towards it. The knocks were soft making Melissa turn and walk over to it quickly, she pulled it open and there she was. Ashanti Paxton stood there with those same soft eyes in the photo, it’s different with seeing a opposite expression on her face now, her innocent baby face filled with such worry. “I’m sorry—I’m late, I had to catch the bus. Am I too late?” Melissa turned her head over her shoulder to Azzi who had been watching the girl too, she gestured them both inside making Melissa back up.
“Right on time, you can stand there.” Melissa suddenly had an excitement in her eyes, she closed the door gently behind her and quickly walked across the room to go back to her chair.
“No script?” Azzi questioned her seeing her empty hands but she watched the girl tug off the bag on her back, sitting it close by the wall afar from her feet. “I lost the only copy I had on campus, I remember them fine though.” Her voice was soft, she moved effortlessly with her fitted jacket on and a pair of jeans. Ashanti’s hair was longer in person too, wavy black dark waves that sat at her shoulders with its natural curl. Her dark eyes were wide now and watchful, the brunette could now feel that intensity that Melissa was explaining earlier. Full lips that were resting parted, a calmness to her face that Azzi couldn’t look away from.
“Whenever you’re ready.” Azzi spoke, giving her the floor.
There wasn’t much fidgeting, not that same lame ass dramatic inhale that most of the girls caught a habit of. Ashanti waited, her face a quick morph into something so real. The scene itself should’ve always began with no emotion, that was the key with what she had been searching for, she didn’t feel any sadness that night just yet mostly a state of shock at first. Ashanti stared straight ahead like the imaginary police lights had been surrounding her, blinking slowly enough like they would help her process her surroundings better. “No..” She whispered, her chest started that small rise and fall.
It wasn’t loud. It wasn’t for the camera facing her way or the two women watching her, she breathed it so true. Azzi leaned forward, her hands tight in front of her. “Don’t do this to me.” The crack in her voice made Azzi frown, her eyes hadn’t even started to water yet as if he was trying so hard not to. Azzi could feel everything she was giving her, she watched her take one hesitant step forward. “Please, let’s just run—I can’t live like that, do do this please.” Tears gathered in her eyes then, just a few blinks managed to make one theoretically cascade down her cheek.
Ashanti was watching the empty space in front of her, her sniffles valuable within the quiet room. The girls face changed suddenly, not into that grief but realization. That type that comes when you understand right in that instant that it would be goodbye. Ashanti’s full lips parted as if she wanted to say something before taking another step backward as if she’d been told to leave, more tears slid down her cheeks making her long lashes damp as she blinked them away. “I’m sorry.” Azzi’s heart could lurch right out of her chest right then and there, the room itself that was around her dissipated.
For that nagging second, she had been twenty again. Those lights, the sirens that she still felt like she could hear in her sleep most nights, how loud they had been—the look on Paige’s face, the tiny movement of her lips that told her to go for the final time.
That was just when Ashanti had straightened up, calling the scene as she lifted her hand to wipe the tears away from her face. Melissa looked over at Azzi, a smile bright on her lips just when Azzi looked back over at her. The brunette couldn’t even speak for the moment, she looked back over at Ashanti and rose to her heels. This would be the first time in weeks she’d walked past the recording camera, she came around the table and stopped directly in front of her. “Ashanti Paxton?” Azzi repeated and she nodded her head, her eyes ridded the sad expression so quickly and she looked so hopeful with Azzi so close.
“You got the part.” Ashanti blinked then. “Oh shit! You lying! Don’t play with me Azzi, you so dead ass right now?” Azzi smiled at her, nodding her head.
“I’ve been looking all over for you.” Azzi couldn’t even pin point with words how special she had been, she finally found her person and something in her was healed from that. She was perfect for it, she seen herself within her brown eyes. “Would you mind with changing the color?” Azzi questioned, gesturing to her mouth.
Ashanti didn’t think twice with the agreement falling from her lips. Since the first time from her writing this script out, Azzi finally believed her story could be told the correct way.

Melissa had those plastic containers in her hands from today’s lunch. She had been walking down the hallway with her natural strut, heading towards the back because she didn’t want the smell staying trapped within the building. Melissa spun around to use her back and push open the door with having her hands full, she stepping outside and the air brushed against the white shirt she wore making it rise only a little. Her heels clacked against the concrete as she tossed the containers away into the trash, she dusted both hands off and when she went to turn back around, she had noticed someone standing in the lot. Whomever they could’ve been had on a baggy grey hoodie, the hoodie pulled over their head, it had been a bench outside and they were just sitting on it casually. “Excuse me?” She called out, stepping further down.
“This is private property. You can’t be back here.” Melissa had been reaching behind her to pull her phone out of her pocket once they had started to stand up but when they turned around, her eyes damn near popped out of her head. Melissa gasped, her phone still in her grip as her eyes bored to the blonde standing just a few steps away from her. “Jesus, Mary and fucking Joseph.” The girl said in disbelief—Paige was so tall, she only wore a hoodie and a pair of black sweats. She reached her hand up to push her hoodie back, her blonde hair only showing to a minimum because of the rest being tucked inside said hoodie.
“Wassup Melissa.” Paige simply said, she stuffed both her hands inside of her pockets with watching her. Melissa was to lost for words at the moment, she felt like she was being punked as she raised her head, looking for any type of camera with spinning in a clean circle before diverting her eyes back to her.
“You out? And, standing in my face.” Melissa words had true confusion to it but Paige simply nodded her head. “Since this morning.” Paige had lifted her head higher to look at the broad building behind her, when she got released all they had gave her was the worn release clothes that they had and a twenty-five dollar release requirement. She was walking around all morning but with no phone, she had no one to reach, it was hard even finding this place but she did. Once she’d seen it, she instantly knew whose building it was—her name in a bold print might’ve gave it away too, but she knew whose production this had been just off first look. Azzi truly did it and Paige couldn’t have been more proud of her, she was in shock too which explains why she’d been sitting outside for almost two hours, trying to figure out how she could possibly approach her.
It scared her that she might’ve not even remembered her. With Paige being transferred so much, she had no direct address for her to contact her at. Azzi could’ve moved on by now, leaving her in a past she’d kill to get out of. Melissa though turned around to look at the building too before looking back over her shoulder at her. “Come inside.” Melissa stated, she even went to step back making Paige step up quick, “Wait,” Melissa paused and turned to look at her.
“She inner?” Paige questioned, her voice having a slight shake from her nervousness.
Melissa nodded her head yes. “She’d wanna see you.” The girl spoke truthfully, she wasn’t her taste then and that small part of her still remained but she knew of somebody who’d be more than fond. Paige felt some type of assurance from that—if she wanted to see her, she wondered if that met she still thought about her. Paige was now walking up the concrete, that whole twenty-five now gone completely from her having to buy socks and slides from Walmart and a five dollar meal just to get something in her stomach. It was the best she could do, she took whatever she could from prison but she currently now had nothing to her name. When she stepped inside, she felt the warm air of the place, she walked further behind as Melissa moved down the hallway.
“Wait—wait, wait” Paige breathed out, she hated herself for feeling like a child but she genuinely couldn’t even breathe from how crazy nervous she was. Melissa turned around to find her leaning with a hand to the wall, staring at the ground below her as she breathed in and out. Melissa stood still, crossing her hands in front of her as she patiently waited in place. “Is this all hers?” Paige questioned, raising her head suddenly to look around the polished building. With where they were located, nobody could see them unless they took the back door, they hadn’t even really entered fully into the building just yet.
Melissa nodded her head. “She waited a lil minute to open its doors though. We had graduated and she didn’t start it till a year or two later, she’s finally releasing her first movie in January.” Paige leaned up straight, turning around to lean against the wall, chewing on her jaw. “What if she hates me?” The question came out terrified and so small making Melissa’s heart crush but she kept her gamble face on, bringing her arms up from in front of her to cross them in front of her chest. The girl inched over closer towards her, twisting her legs at the ankles once she stood still.
“She doesn’t.” It was hard to comfort someone like her, she felt fake as hell but she could tell she needed it. “Do you really believe that?”
“I do. She could never hate you even though I thought it was best but she doesn’t, my girl doesn’t even have a hateful bone in her body.” Melissa noticed how her features truly remained the exact same but she definitely looked older and kept up with herself while she was locked up, she wasn’t scrawny anymore at all, she truly had defined muscle to her arms now. “I didn’t like you, I thought you would ruin her.” Melissa started, watching the blondes head tilt lower to the ground knowing everything she would sock to her would be nothing but the truth.
“But then, I watched what losing you did to my best friend.” Paige blinked at the floor, she could feel her hands started to tremble before she raised them and stuffed them into her pockets again. “So no, she doesn’t hate you or whatever the hell you’re thinking. Azzi misses you, more than you’d probably ever know.” Azzi hadn’t really dated much after her and she knew not to push her into that because Melissa was well aware of where her heart would always reminded—she witnessed the heartbreak first person, it was no coming back from her for her best friend. Azzi didn’t have to talk about her constantly for Melissa to know the fact, her intuition told her where her heart would stay.
“I’m so fucking scared.”
“I know.”
“I don’t even know what to say to her.”
“Then don’t say anything, just look at her. I hear that’s y’all thing.” Melissa shrugged her shoulders, ready to spin around and keep walking. “Can we go now?” She questioned and she watched the blonde lift up from the wall and she had spun around to start her pace again, they had barley even made it three steps before she heard the blonde call wait again making her turn around sharply.
“Alright now, you finna piss me off.” Melissa stated with a sarcastic smile on her face, her voice going up a octave. She tried to be as sympathetic as she could but Paige had truly been taking her there at this point, she listened to her voice come out again as if it was strained. “I can’t.”
“Yes you can.” Melissa said, her head tilting with exhaustion from this game.
“You survived prison.” Paige rolled her eyes. “I know that.”
“Four years Paige, you been locked up for four consecutive years.” Melissa stated again. “I know that too.” Paige repeated, looking over at her.
“So why are you scared acting scared of my girl?” Paige huffed out a breath, her eyes slowly blinking. “Cause it’s her Melissa.”
It was a silence following it afterwards, Melissa couldn’t even argue with her about that fact. Instead, she had moved forward and latched onto her grey hoodie to start pulling her in the direction of the offices. “You’re acting ridiculous, I’m about to start screaming.” Melissa stated, she could feel Paige fighting against the pull otherwise the blondes feet tumbled forward underneath her. “If you break my nail, I’m beating your ass, watch and see.” Melissa stated, having to swing her arm around now to pull her with both arms, she had to multitask with pushing open the door for the actual buildings hallway to push her through it. Paige had been in front of her now and she continuously pushed her towards the direction of her own office first; she knew Azzi was probably shutting her things off in her own office to leave for the day, she knew the girl wasn’t making it to Azzi’s office.
“My heart is literally—,” Melissa cut her off, pushing her into the office completely. “I can hear it from here.”
“It’s beating so fast.” Paige had her hand to her chest, walking forward so she could instantly sit down in one of the seats before she shot up again.
“Good, that means you’re alive. Listen, don’t move okay?” Paige looked over at her, she’d never seen the blonde so nervous like this, it was laughable for a second before she realized that she was truly having a panic attack. “It’s water in here if you need it, I’ll be right back.” Melissa said deliberately, pointing towards her as she backed away and turned around so that she could leave out. Melissa shut her door behind her before walking down the hall just a few steps towards Azzi’s office, when she was walking inside, the brunette was standing up to finally leave out.
Azzi’s head lifted with her coming in. “Hey, I was tryna find my cord for my computer, you seen it?” Melissa shook her head. “You can borrow mine though, it’s in my office. I have something to show you too, come with me.” Melissa stated and Azzi nodded her head but still had been looking around, she’d eventually have to returns Melissa’s cord and she knew she’d need her own back eventually.
“Azzi!” She heard her calling after her making her kiss her teeth, she straightened up then and went over to her lights to flick the switch. Azzi made sure to carefully shut and lock her door behind her after it, following behind Melissa who had already been halfway down the hallway. She tried to keep up with her, speeding up a bit in her heels whilst she made her way down.
Melissa had stopped in front of her door giving the brunette just enough time to catch up with her completely and when she finally made it and tried to walk forward, Melissa held her arm in her way. “Before you go in,” Melissa spoke before stepping forward and wrapping her arms around her with a tight embrace and Azzi froze for only a few seconds, registering it before she slowly wrapped her arms around her to hug her back. “I told you I forgave you about the security guard thing.” Melissa instantly kissed her teeth and pulled away from her, the ongoing joke of Azzi walking in on her and the old security was something she’d bring up atleast twice a week.
Melissa didn’t say much else as she turned and twisted the door to push it open. When Azzi walked inside, her eyes instantly turned to the woman standing close by the window with her back facing them. Her blonde hair was tucked in her hoodie, she was tall, her eyes tracing over the woman but when she turned around she felt her heart stop in her chest. Melissa was standing off to the side with watching them both briefly before she turned and left her office as well leaving the two alone; when the door clicked close though, they both were still standing in place and with a deep shock.
The room went quiet. Azzi couldn’t move, all she really could do was stare. She’d imagined seeing this face again so many times that for a simple second, she felt like this was some sort of sick dream. Paige looked entirely different and older but still herself, the softness of her face had still been there but matured indefinitely. Her shoulders big and broad, her large hands that only rested at her sides as Paige had watched her simply too. “Hi.” The one word nearly broke Azzi, she felt her eyes prickle, only thing she could get out of her lips were the simple breaths.
Azzi blinked twice before her hand flew to her mouth. “Paige?” Azzi took another step forward but she noticed Paige backing up within that same distance whenever she moved, the blonde was to scared to even touch her, she didn’t even feel like she deserved to.
“I’m sorry.” Paige apologized, her words a short breath away from a breakdown. “Why are you apologizing to me?” Azzi asked her, her own words even softer while she tried to inch close the best she could manage.
Paige shook her head. “I couldn’t reach you. I tried to everytime they moved me, they kept bouncing me around to different prisons. I always wrote you letters but they just toss them out—I started realizing that when you stopped writing me back.” Azzi face morphed to a sadness, “I waited for you. I thought you gave up, I didn’t know what else to do after I stopped getting them so I stopped sending them.” Azzi explained after her.
Another silence between them two. Paige was nervous and Azzi could read it all over her face, that beautiful face that she continues to love even after all these years. It took nothing for her to have her again and she hadn’t even been in her presence a whole hour and Paige already had her back even though she’d honestly never really lost her, she’d always been hers. Azzi continued to walk forward and Paige didn’t back away from her this time, she let the brunette walk into her space entirely. The perfume she wore was the first thing to really reach her, she still smelled of a sharp vanilla with just a tang of expensive Chanel. Paige breathed out a breath and Azzi slightly lifted her hand to grab onto hers; she allowed their fingers to tangle, lacing them quietly as she held her hand close. Her touch was enough to make Paige want to pass out, she couldn’t even believe this was real. “You’re really here with me.” Azzi spoke in disbelief with her eyes still, she allowed them to eventually travel down her clothes and her long feet stuffed in the slides. “How long have you been out?” Azzi questioned her with her head coming back up.
“I was released this morning on good behavior.” Azzi smiled, she stepped backwards so that she could pull her further outside. “Let’s go.”
“Where we going?” Paige questioned her, the girls feet moving slowly underneath her. “To my place.” Azzi said the location so simply but Paige was starting to panic again, she really tried not to show that shit though, she felt like a punk right now but her heart just wouldn’t stop thumping. Paige has been waiting for this reunion, she didn’t even think it’d be possible, she figured that Azzi left town as soon as she got the chance. Paige didn’t know how she had gotten so lucky but she wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. With Azzi leading her out of the office, she never dropped her hand as they both had walked to the lobby and Azzi seen Kaitlyn and Melissa speaking as Melissa stood leaning against the desk. With the two coming around the corner, they both lifted their heads whilst Kaitlyn then reached underneath the desk to grab her clutch and glasses.
“Who’s this?” Kaitlyn questioned and the brunette already knew it was coming as she had to finally drop her hand so that she could grab her things—Paige stayed back a few paces, soon as she let her go, it was like she was planted in place. “This is Paige; Kaitlyn meet Paige, Paige meet Kait she’s our receptionist.” Kaitlyn lifted her hand with a slight wave and Paige did the same and Azzi had to tuck her lips in to not smirk at how nervous she really was.
Melissa though still had her face turned up, reaching her hand up to tug her hoodie back into place. “Fix yourself up, make yourself look like somethin’ other than you being locked up for years.” Paige was trying to shrug her off though and that was finally when Azzi’s smile broke out. “What the fuck girl, I have?” Paige said and Azzi had stepped forward to grab the blondes hand again with her clutch and glasses in hand, she pulled her to her side as she turned to leave. “Goodnight ladies.” Azzi said with a giggle to her voice and Paige squeezed her hand back as she briefly glanced over her shoulder just to tease Melissa with sticking her tongue out, the girl though raised both her hands to flick her off as they both exited the building.
Kaitlyn waited until the revolving doors slid closed before she spoke. “You mean to tell me Azzi messes with jail bait? Why am I just now finding out about this Paige stranger?”
“Jail bait? What does that even mean?” Melissa asked her yet Kaitlyn completely bypasses her question. “Azzi doesn’t even seem like the type, I’m on a need to know Lissa please!” Melissa lips pursed as she looked over at her for only a few seconds, she had more work to do before she could leave for the day so instead of replying she only waved her off as she spun around to walk away. “Grown folk business.” Melissa inquired and she could hear Kaitlyn calling behind her but she left her at the desk, heading back to her office.
Azzi felt wordless. This was something shes had dreams about and wished over for the past three years everytime she’s blown out a birthday candle, she couldn’t believe she was sitting next to her right now. This was meant to be but she hated herself for not really having much to say, they sat in Stanley’s truck and the brunette even introduced the two as well. The drive to her house wasn’t to far and thankfully the highway didn’t have much traffic and as soon as they got there, they both got out. The air whipped against Azzi’s face as she spun to speak to Stanley, “Goodnight, you can head home, thank you Stanley.” Azzi mentioned, he had gave her a signal with his eyes just as a smile played on his lips but she could only smirk before shutting the door.
After she shut it closed, she turned around to find Paige standing at the curb waiting for her.
She walked up the concrete, stepping up the curb and going towards the front of the building. Azzi could see her reflection clear in the door and noticed how Paige was moving slow like a snail behind her making her pause before she walked inside, she reached her hand backwards for the blonde to take it and she did easy. Azzi walked them both inside, the woman sitting at the desk had spoke like typical and she spoke back. Paige noticed how friendly she was with everyone, her genuine heart still stayed the same over all these years and she was loved by many.
It gave her anxiety for a reason she couldn’t really explain. Azzi had lived an entire life and all Paige had been doing was spending half of her twenties in prison.
Azzi had never been so excited to be at home. The brunette pushed open the door and Paige’s eyes had went around the entire place, she was in shock with how nice and tidy it was. The entire aroma of the house smelled simply of Azzi, Azzi felt her move away from her while she drifted off towards the living room to look at the wide brown cushions. The blondes eyes trailing upwards then to find the stand that held a few framed photos—Azzi was tilting her head, taking her hoops out of her ears. “I don’t even remember this.” Paige’s voice came out mumbled with a small shy tint to it, she picked up the lilac purple picture frame that was of them together lying in bed. “It was the only one that went with my color scheme.” Azzi said, leaning against the counter so that she could take her heels off next.
Paige’s head came up again to move slow feet to the opposite end of the living room, the space was wide enough that the kitchen had been on the other side. Paige still held the photo in her hand, close to her heart as her eyes peered around the knickknacks on the stand. “You really making movies?” Paige asked again, picking up what looks to be a diploma with an even wider frame. “I am. I’m trying to release it by January, it’ll be my first one out technically.” Azzi leaned against it, she allowed her to pick up whatever she saw.
It was giving her such deja-vu, she watched the curious blonde from afar. “Are you scared?” Paige asked her, finally turning around to look at her in the face whilst Azzi simply shook her head. “Not anymore. I use to be because I was worried about criticism and I knew everybody would have an opinion but then I realized I can’t keep letting the fear hold me back.”
Paige smiled but it faded almost instantly then. “I’m proud of that. I’m happy you went through with your dream, that makes me happy.”
“It was so hard, I won’t lie about that part. Support though goes a very long way and that’s all people have been giving me with this project so it gives me the motivation I need, people went crazy with the leak just imagine how I’ll blow minds with this trailer.” Paige nodded at her voice, her eyes dripping down low to the ground before she pulled the frame away from her chest to look at the photo again. Azzi surely had grown into those softer features as well, she still looked so pure though but she definitely wasn’t young anymore. Her body did more than just develop and she had long legs underneath her making Paige only really beat her by an inch now with her heels off, she was beautiful. It was making her heart pang harder, she was really in her presence right now and didn’t even know how to react. The blonde blew out a breath as she spun to put the frame back on the stand, “What is it?” Azzi questioned softly with watching her, she wanted to go over to her but had a feeling she wasn’t ready for that.
It didn’t matter though, she could take months and she’d still wait hand and foot. “It’s stupid.” Paige said, still watching the photo. “Tell me please.” Azzi pleaded, leaning up straight from the counter just to ease upwards but the couch and coffee table still had been between them.
Paige spun, “I don’t know…you look so much older.” Azzi breathed out a laugh at that, leaning her hands down into the couch. “I’m twenty-four.” Azzi spoke and Paige shook her head side to side.
“No—not like that, I know how old you are. I mean your eyes, you look the exact same but so different at the same time.” Azzi tilted her head. “Really?” She said in some short of surprise, she didn’t think she looked much different herself. Paige finally left the frame where it was in the beginning, trailing around the table and Azzi noticed her getting closer making her turn against the couch as Paige walked up on her. Paige was getting comfortable and the brunette could tell, she didn’t move an inch as she walked up on her.
“Did they get darker?” Paige questioned her, she allowed her blue hues to stare deep into her eyes and Azzi tried not to melt with a small shrug. “I dunno.” Her curls had been next for admiration, the blonde kept her hands at her side even though she was aching to touch her but she felt like they were restrained there. Her curls were still full but they were sitting at her shoulders now, in tight curls fixed around her head.
“You even cut your hair.” Azzi hesitantly reached her hand up to her curls, touching her hair. “Yeah, I regret it honestly. I was just doing anything.”
“Can I see yours?” Azzi had asked her with a hopeful voice, she could only see the top half seeing as she had the rest still stuffed inside of her hoodie and didn’t even bother with taking it out when they got in the car. Paige slowly nodded her head yes whilst Azzi moved quick to step around to go behind her, she reached her hands up to tug her hair upwards to free it from the hoodie. As soon as it fell to her back, she allowed her eyes to go over her locs.
Paige’s blonde hair had always grown well past her shoulders, but it no longer fell the way Azzi remembered. The golden strands looked dull beneath the afternoon light, stripped of the healthy shine that used to catch so effortlessly. The last few inches were thin and frayed, splitting into wispy ends but she still ran her fingers through it. It wasn’t ugly. It was simply forgotten. Azzi couldn’t stop looking at it for a second. It was still the same shade she remembered running her fingers through—warm, golden, almost sunlit but prison left its fingerprints on it for sure. It was the way the hair no longer looked cared for, as if somewhere along the way, Paige had stopped believing she was worth taking care of.
Azzi lifted both hands to effortlessly pull it all to the back, she twisted her lips to the side with watching it. “I could cut your ends?” Paige nodded her head up and down and Azzi could sense how stiff she was making her hand move from her hair to glide to her back—her touch made the blonde shudder, not even sexually, she just felt so new to her touch, she squeezed her shoulders making Paige’s head drop forward with another clipped breath. “Relax.” Azzi whispered behind her, she tried to give her the provided space but she just couldn’t, she was so tightened up when she didn’t have to be. If Azzi had to talk her through these steps, she had no problem with doing so, she allowed her hands to trail down her arms eventually.
“I can trim it. You probably should just wet it first, I can leave some clothes out for you if you wanna shower.” Paige had turned around at the sound of that making Azzi’s hands stay to her arms, her head lowering to look into her eyes. The blonde nodded her head again and Azzi took her answer, going for her hand again so that she could tug her towards the hallway. “You’ve already seen the living room and there’s the kitchen, don’t go in the fridge expecting anything because I haven’t shopped in weeks.” The laugh Paige had let out was soft and the first one she had heard of the day, she tried not to make a big deal out of it though as she guided her through their her home.
“This here is a guest bedroom I don’t know what to do with.” Azzi said, patting the closed door of the room. “Up here is my bedroom, when you get out, I’ll have your clothes on my bed.” Paige couldn’t wait to look around here after she got out her shower, her place was so nice, she truly came a long way and the blonde couldn’t be more proud of her.
“Thank you.” Paige said, her eyes raising to look at her.
It made Azzi smile, her dimples going deep into her cheeks. “Of course, feel free to use whatever’s in there. I’ll be in here when you get out.”

While We’re Young by Jhené Aiko filled the space playing from her Alexa dot. Jhené’s soft voice was mumbled enough to still pair with the 85”flat screen that had sat in front of them, Azzi’s apartment always had minimal lightning it truly was her in it’s own way, the screen had been mounted on the wall with that golden hue lit behind it from the strip LED light she had on the back. It was now later into the night and Azzi finally decided to take her own shower after they ate dinner together making them both now dressed in comfortable pajamas—the brunette was coming from the back room after retrieving a rat tail comb and silver shears with her phone in her hands, she was sending a message through to the group chat before she paused directly at the threshold of the hall. Paige was sitting where she had left her last, she told her they’d be doing it in the center of the living room and she pulled the chair from her table so that Paige could face the television.
The blonde was already slumped comfortably with her hues fixed on the screen, the sounds of SpongeBobs laughter made Azzi frown. She was so into it like she was actually watching something important, the sight itself was cute though. Azzi lifted her phone up so that she could snap a picture of her; the blonde sitting there with her legs spread accordingly, her arms at her sides and hands tucked into her lap as she watched the screen. Azzi gave her one of her long sleeved sleeping shirts she had that would swallow her whole but it fit the blonde just right, along with a pair of fabric grey pants that were bunched at her knees. The girl was really lucky that Azzi insisted in loose pajamas, she hated anything tight on her when she was sleeping otherwise she’d just sleep naked. Paige was so into it, she didn’t even hear her come up behind her.
Azzi sat her phone down and Paige heard the clatter making her head turn quick to find her standing behind her. Azzi was dressed in comfortable carebear printed shorts, the spaghetti strap on next with her curls still damp from her own shower. The brunette moved around her kitchen then, tugging open the fridge so that she could reach forward and grab a Gatorade. After she leaned back up, she noticed the blonde still watching her making the smile spread across her face and waved in her direction. Azzi had noticed her eyes going to the drink in her hand before she laughed—biting down on her bottom lip as she turned her head then to look forward again. “You washed it?” Azzi asked her, walking up behind her again to run her fingers throughout her wet hair.
The nodding was becoming a bit much—Azzi just couldn’t wait for when she’d be comfortable enough to start using her voice again, whenever she did, it was so soft like she was to scared to even speak. “Here.” Azzi said mindlessly handing off the beverage and Paige lifted her hand to quickly take it and put it up to her lips—Azzi was moving back to grab the comb and shears sitting by her phone, she came up again to throughly comb it through her hair.
The girls ends were crying at this rate. “We have to wake up early tomorrow, I wanna take you to get a few outfits before I go to the office.” Paige frowned her lips a bit, licking over them to taste the fruit punch Gatorade. “I don’t have any money.” Her voice came out again, still having her eyes glued to the T.V.
“I have it so that means you do to.” Azzi now had been parting it into sections, tracing the comb into her scalp before she pulled it through to section it off. “You don’t have to do that.”
“I’m aware.” Azzi states, pulling the comb through her hair again, each time it caught she made sure paused instead of pulling again. She was trying to focus onto her hair being sure to pull the comb towards her ends before she lifted her hand to snip it, her ends either fell to her floor or caught onto the towel that had been around her neck. Her streaks were dark with it not being much light throughout her apartment, she could still see the blonde trying to seep its way through. It was still long overall making her move onto another section so she could snip it too, the only sound being the scissors and the floor creaking underneath her whenever she moved.
Paige had been sitting there though. The girl was lost in her mind and the truth that she deadass had no income at the moment, it was making her overthink with how she could go from so much just to now have so little. “How will I take care of you?” Paige asked her, she was trying to find the voice she felt she no longer had. “What do you mean?” Azzi asked her, she was taking any opportunity to get her to talk.
Paige shook her head as if she was signaling her to forget about it. Azzi was stepping around though, finished with the back just so she could go to her side. “I don’t need to be taken care of, I just need you here with me.” Paige was agitated with how easy she could talk to her—it was a weird feeling, she just didn’t know why she had her so lost for words like this. It was embarrassing and the embarrassment would make her stop talking all together, she didn’t even know what to say back to her after hearing it.
Azzi followed her silence, giving her time to think of what she wanted to say or even say anything at all. She’d talk when she wanted and the brunette would be right there listening.
With her being directly at her side, Paige was able to flick her eyes to the right of her to catch the small rise of her top. Her stomach showing and the piercing that dangled from it was silver, she didn’t even think about it too much before she lifted her hand to push the jewel making it swing back and forth. Azzi felt it, her effort to not have big reactions whenever she touched her was only getting harder and harder. The blonde truly seemed fascinated with the piece of jewelry, her finger diverting to the side a little just to allow her fingertip to run against the skin next to it on her stomach.
Azzi was keeping her composure or atleast trying to. “What is your movie about?” Paige questioned her just as Azzi went over to the opposite side on her left.
“That’s why I want you to come to the studio tomorrow so that I can show you in person.” Paige could hear the excitement laced in her voice, it made her smile slightly as she tried to keep her head up straight. “Can I have a hint?”
“Nope.” Azzi popped the statement as she rose up just to back up a few paces, she brought the comb up again to comb through it all just to make sure everything was evenly like. “See, all pretty.” Azzi sat down both the comb and the scissors before she came forward again to take the towel off her shoulders with a soft snicker coming from the blonde—Paige had stood from the chair then, the sight of her stretching her arms out had to make Azzi look away from her before she fainted. Everything seemed so new again, she tried not to press but feined to be wrapped in her skin.
This would be the first night of many that she gets to actually lay next to her including the first night of many she hadn’t had to get fried before she went to bed. Azzi knew she was going to get some good sleep tonight, she watched her trail towards the mirror by the front door. The blonde turned around to look at her trimmed hair sitting now neater at her back, it of course could’ve had more work but it was better than the alternative. “Thank you.” Paige said making the brunette smile, nodding her head. “You’re welcome.” She was starting to now clean up the minimal mess being sure to wipe down then sweep the floor in a timely manner, the only time she lifted her head is when the blonde got to quiet, she lifted her head every few seconds to either see her still staring at the screen or picking up something to look over it.
Azzi went over to the light only flicking the bigger one, the kitchen had its own small mellow lighting that was now more visible on her with the light off. Paige had turned a little at the lighting going away only seeing Azzi watching her for a minute, she told her Alexa to stop then as well making the only noise being come from the television. “You tired?” Azzi asked just to watch her nod her head and grab the remote so she could turn off the screen; the remote clattered back on the table once she sat it down and Azzi lifted her hand to hold it out for her, the blonde made slow steps in her direction just when Azzi started to lead her towards the back.
This wasn’t her college dorm anymore at all. Paige hadn’t been in here to long after she finished getting dressed so she couldn’t really snoop like she wanted but her eyes went over everything again, the look of it may have been different but the aroma remained warmed and inviting. Her queen-sized bedding was wide with natural colored comforters and oversized pillows, she still had a small stand sitting next to her bed as well with a gentle amber light. A dresser that was wide enough to hold more framed photos with a broad mirror atop it along side the perfume and the jewelry dishes filled with silver jewelry. Azzi went over to her stand to put her phone on the tangled charger across the wood, slipping off her house shoes next to her bed.
In one corner sat a comfortable reading chair draped with a throw blanket, next to a small bookshelf packed with novels, journals, and a few plants that had somehow survived her inconsistent watering schedule. A woven rug covered the hardwood floor, soft beneath bare feet on chilly mornings.
The room carried a faint scent of vanilla and clean laundry. There was no clutter that felt overwhelming, only the quiet signs of someone building a life—an unfinished mug on the nightstand, a tote bag leaning against the dresser from yesterday’s errands, her iPad actually sitting on the floor by the trunk at the edge of her bed, and a laptop left open on a small desk beneath the window. It was all hers too which is what had been most important—she was really in her space like this, she still couldn’t believe her life. “You don’t have to sleep in that if you don’t want to.” Azzi reminded, pulling back the thick cover so that she could climb her legs in firstly. Paige looked down at her clothes before lifting her head back up. “Do you have anything else?” Azzi slowly shook her head, leaning back against her upholstered bed frame.
“We can get all that stuff tomorrow but if you’re more comfortable with sleeping with it on that’s fine too, I was just letting you know.” Paige could feel her body getting hot from her nervousness, she was still standing at the edge of the bed but for some reason she just couldn’t move. She was eyeing the bed like it was a piece of lava, she couldn’t move her feet no matter how bad she ached to.
Azzi was watching her too, her hands sitting in her lap as she gave her the silence she needed. It of course could only last for so long though, the time slowly ticking by. “Are you scared of me?” Paige eyes came up again at the sound of her soft voice that was filled with so much concern, she shook her head no fairly quick though. “Of course not, I want this so bad.”
“I’m just…it feels like I forgot everything.” She tried to explain it, saying anything other than the word scared when she knew that was exactly what she felt. Paige just couldn’t pinpoint what it was exactly though that she had been so terrified of; she felt like she should’ve kept running than coming here and risking Azzi’s safety again, she felt so many things and they only came to a quiet hush when Azzi leaned forward to reach her arm out for her. It caused her to rise a little making the comforter fall from her lap, pulling her towards the bed and that was only when Paige had finally allowed her feet to move, she followed wherever she guided her as she came to lay on the bed. “I’ll teach you again.” Azzi spoke softly, she was moving her other hand to help the comforters back further so she could lay down.
When Paige laid down against the pillows—Azzi allowed her hand to move from her arm so that she could stretch backwards and turn off the lamp, when she let her go, the blondes hand followed her free arm instantly just to feel her close. The brunette tried to move quick as soon as the light turned off, the only lighting they had was coming from the moon that dipped inside of the room. It was pitch back regardless than that and Paige blinked at the ceiling, she could hear the covers ruffle when Azzi settled on her side next to her. “None of this feels real.” Azzi heard her voice say and even with the dark room she could make her out clearly, her own hand lifting to grab the hand still holding her arm so that she could lace their fingers together. “I know right.” Azzi whispered, squeezing her hand tighter.
“I’ve probably dreamed about this moment a million times.” Paige spoke again, she felt more confident to speak to the darkness of the bedroom.
Azzi listened to her, bringing her other hand up to trace the back of the blondes hand. “I thought of you everyday.” Azzi smiled at that, her lips curling upwards as she blinked. “Me too. It wasn’t a day that went past where I didn’t think of you, it doesn’t even matter where I am, sometimes you’ll pop into my brain at times when I least expect it.” Azzi spoke this time with a soft mellow.
“I could be going to bed but my brain would need another ten minutes just to think about you or what you could’ve been doing at that moment. I wondered if you would be laying down too like me or if I’m eating something, I’ll think the same thing—it’s weird.” Her rambles had Paige all ears, it only made her turn her body a little to lay on her side and face her better. “Tell me more.” Paige asked, squeezing her hand back.
“I would dream about you every night. At times when I think my brain has finally had enough, you’ll just pop up out of nowhere. Sometimes you wouldn’t even be facing me or you would be so far away but I can tell when it’s you—no matter where you are, I know when you’re in my dream.” Azzi felt Paige scoot closer towards her making their legs touch underneath the covers, the brunette lifted her legs to tangle them within hers at the ankles. “I tried to go back to Virginia, twice actually,” Azzi said, she was taking her parents through it with the chaotic moves but they were there for her too even though she only allowed them to know minimal things, they were supportive.
“I just couldn’t stay there long with knowing you were still here. I wanted to be here when you got out.” Paige blinked, she felt her eyes burning as she slowly exhaled through her nose. “Take the time you need but I’ve never forgotten you, you’re not a stranger to me.”
“I don’t know why it’s so hard for me. I’m scared to do anything, I don’t wanna mess it up again.” Azzi shook her head. “That isn’t even possible.” Azzi had to let go of her hand as much as she hated to do the act but she grabbed her wrist, she brought her hand directly over her beating heart just as Paige flattened her hand to feel it completely. They both were still and Paige could feel how crazy fast her heart was thumping against her chest, it was crazy—her blue eyes trailed, looking down at her chest that still rose every few seconds.
“I’ve been like this all day just so you know how mutual the feeling is.”
The blonde felt her words, she loved this girl next to her so much and it eased her mind wonders to know that she never stopped loving her. Even after all this time, she still looked at her the exact same. It gave her confidence to move again, she reached her hands out to grab onto the girls waist, she picked her body up so easy and moved her on top of her. Azzi followed her pursuit with spreading her legs so that she could lay on top of the girl, she had both of her hands wrapping around her body comfortably as she laid down against her front. Paige felt her embrace her tighter, Azzi’s legs even went to hook underneath her own to get impossibly closer.
It made a laugh slip out of Paige from her hands rubbing against her back. “Cmon’—chill,” Azzi couldn’t though, she only hummed into her even lazily lifting her head up so her nose could go directly into her neck. The blonde smelled like her soap but the tang of just her it was like her own drug that enlightens her insides, she allowed her eyes to close as she dragged her hands upwards to cuff against her shoulders with her arms still underneath her back. “Oh my God.” Azzi spoke softly making the blonde eyes blink, still staring straight ahead with her own arms wrapped around her.
Paige had one arm wrapped around her waist with her other rubbing against her shoulder, she squeezed it with the brunette settling on top of her. “What is it?” She questioned her, turning her head to engulf her entirely.
“I haven’t felt like this in so long.” Azzi words were slightly muffled but Paige heard her clearly enough to make a smile fix on her face—she let out one slow breath after it, feeling the tension leave her body with her blue hues finally closing shut.

“Good morning queen, good morning stranger who anyone refuses to tell me about.” Kaitlyn had a bright smile on her face this morning, her bare face covered in brown freckles that scattered around it. It only caused Azzi eyes to squint in her direction as they both approached the desk from the entrance, the couple running a bit behind was an understatement. The brunette had the blonde up early with precise destinations in mind, the girl had practically took Paige to every mall known to man just to splurge on whatever she saw fit. Azzi had been doing most of the swiping and the picking though, they had a smooth rotation with her picking up two options to let her decide or if Azzi had gotten just enough lucky, she would speak up and tell her both.
Paige had still muttered a short good morning to her, the two laced hands finally slipping when Azzi walked forward.
Them being out all morning caused her to come late to the office which wasn’t its usual but everyone minded their own. It was going on noon when they were finally coming in and Azzi was aware she had two meetings today, they were on sight too and she was already annoyed from the time that was going to be taken away from the blonde who stayed a few paces back to look around the building. “I’m serious, when will I know the lore on this stranger?” Azzi sighed, she handed off her black bag to her as she decided against shades with her fitted denim two piece set. It had the sculpted long-sleeves with the denim tennis skirt to pair, she only wore black stilettos on her feet with silver accessories and her hair pulled up high in a curly pony. It sat cutely on top of her head, her rounded face pretty with her innocent eyes. “I’ll tell you later, right now I need you to make sure my meetings for tomorrow don’t overlap, I was looking at my schedule and they cut to close.” She reminded her and Kaitlyn took the discretion while then turning her head to look at Paige, she was all the way on the opposite side, admiring the trophy case she kept in the lobby.
Azzi walked over towards her, coming up behind her slowly enough but Paige could hear her heels as she gotten closer. The blonde in her own blue jeans that paired with the jean color Azzi wore and a cashmere sweater that had brought out her eye color beautifully and the blonde with the color was a ten in its own—she had it slightly cuffed up to her elbows, she blinked at the trophy in front of her whilst Azzi pulled up on her side. “You okay?” Azzi asked her with her hand coming up to rub against her back and Paige melted into it, a short nod of her head before her voice came out. “You won an award for that film from school?”
The brunette nodded her head easy. “UConn gave it to me at the showcase, it isn’t even real metal.” Azzi snorted making Paige laugh but she was indefinitely serious. “It honestly made me though so I had to find some place to put it.” The case also held a few other valuable monuments, her trophy case wasn’t to full but she knew in due time that she’ll have all the shelves tipping with them.
Azzi looked back over at her, trailing her hand down her arm just to hold her hand and Paige quickly clasped it at her side. “I have a few meetings today, I won’t be out till after two probably. You can sit in my office and wait for me if you want to, they’re in person today.” Azzi spoke with her other hand eventually coming upwards to push the blondes hair behind her ear, she tucked it quickly making the side of her face glow from the sudden angle. “Will you tell me what the movie is about after?” Azzi had smirked at her question, nodding again and with Kaitlyn afar at the desk, she still had been eavesdropping on the conversation making her speak up as well,
“I can watch her if you want!” Azzi flicked her head towards her with a confused face. “Kaitlyn, whose gonna watch the door?” Kaitlyn jumped up from behind the desk, coming around it so she could approach them both at the trophy case.
“Child, nobody comes in here anyway. I can multitask, I just wanna show her around a little and my favorite room.” Azzi looked over at the blonde who had a smirk on her face. “That sounds fun.” Paige said in Azzi’s direction and Kaitlyn was squealing with excitement at this point as she grabbed onto her wrist and pulled her down the way of the hall.
“She’s not a dog Kait, be careful!” The sounds of their giggling could’ve been heard as they both disappeared down the hallway and Azzi had to bite her lip to stop herself from smiling, she quickly registered her intent as she started to move her feet in the way of Melissa’s office. When she approached her door, she of course knocked twice before she was told to come in and she stepped inside to find Melissa fingers clacking against her keyboard before her eyes raised to look at her. “The woman of the hour.” Melissa joked and Azzi had smirked, she took the familiar route as she leaned down to grab a water bottle from her fridge.
Azzi untwisted the cap before bringing it to her lips. “You ready? Henderson will be here in a minute, I hope he won’t have us in there all damn day.” Melissa agreed with her, grabbing a pile of papers for the meeting just as she stood up from her rolling chair. “No, literally. How was last night though with your jail bird?” Azzi tilted her head with stern eyes making a smile spread across Melissa’s face as she walked over towards her, she had her binder and additional papers cuffed in her arms as they walked out of her office together.
It was a specific room for all meetings that luckily was still on the first floor. “It was perfect, all I can think about is that I’m dreaming and will wake up soon. It scares me to be away from her for to long, I’ve missed her everyday and my body can finally feel like itself now that I have her here with me. Do I sound delusional?” Azzi asked her with pushing open the mahogany doors to allow Melissa to step inside first, it gave her a small chill from how cold the room had been as they both walked inside. “Of course not, you sound inlove is what you sound like.” The statement coming from her best friend made Azzi smile big, it seems as if that was all she had been doing all morning. The brunette came around the table so that she could find her original seat with Melissa sitting across from her, she leaned back in the chair as they awaited their guest.
It was a small silence with Melissa clacking on her computer, she was on it for a minute before her eyes peered to Azzi who seemed to be so distant but yet physically in her face. Melissa smirked at how down bad she truly was, she missed seeing the glow on her that she hadn’t had in a minute. “You know, I never had gotten the chance to apologize to you about that day.” Azzi had frowned slightly with her head coming up. “About what I said about her just for her to get locked up not even three days later, that was kinda fucked.” She honestly had forgotten all about the conversation that took place, the stuff she had said about Paige that had hurt her core in the beginning but she knew all she wanted was for her to be safe. Azzi couldn’t hate her for that, she didn’t even have it in her.
The brunette shook her head loosely. “Don’t worry about it. I know where your heart was coming from and that’s all that matters.”
Melissa nodded her head, agreeing just to then look back down at her computer screen. “Her ass still ain’t my kind but to each its own.” The girl shrugged carelessly only making a loud laughter fall from Azzi’s lips.
After said meeting, she couldn’t wait to get out just for her to find her other half. She barely even allowed them to finish wrap-ups before she was up to her feet and leaving the room all together; she said her fairwells of course but afterwards she was gone with the wind, her heels clacking down the hallway as she made a straight shot to the front desk. When she approached, she only saw Kaitlyn though just sitting with her face deep in her phone, it instantly made Azzi’s face frown. “Where she at?” Kaitlyn head rose from her phone to look at Azzi but then she looked over at the lounge area that was in the lobby, she twisted her lips slightly with seeing the empty cushions. “I swear she was just right here—my boyfriend called me and I got distracted, I’m sorry!” Kaitlyn haven’t even finished before Azzi turned around, she made quick feet back down the hallway.
The blonde hadn’t even been here that long to be trying to walk off so she moved quickly, she went from door to door on the first floor, trying to dodge the meeting room lastly because she knew she wouldn’t be in there. It was no luck; the sound of her heels were the only noise behind her when she pushed herself out the elevator, the second floor wasn’t much to look at, most of them were a few vacant rooms or some of them still being worked on. It made her anxious because one of the sets were on this floor, she pushed open the first and it was one of the vacant rooms.
Azzi could finally breathe when she found Paige sitting in the middle of the room, she had been crisscrossed sitting on the floor with her head bowed into the thick sheet of papers in her hands. Paige head snapped upwards at the sound of the door hitting the wall, she shot up to her feet even at the sight of Azzi in front of her. “Paige, are you crazy?” Azzi asked her, the door shutting behind her with her coming forward but before Paige could even speak, her eyes flicked towards the sheets going behind her back. “What’re you doing?” Azzi asked her; the room was plenty of wide, broad windows sitting next to them making the sun shine on them.
Paige shook her head. “Nothing, M’ sorry, don’t blame Kait.” She quickly spit up but Azzi was now more so focused on what she was reading, she stood a few inches in front of her with her arms coming and tightly crossing across her chest. Azzi had a skeptical expression on her as she watched her, her brown hues never left her blue ones even for a second. The brunette was feeling her out indefinitely and Paige felt herself giving in with her sudden look, she couldn’t really hold it behind her back for long before she brought it around and Azzi saw that she had the first scenes script in her grasp. It made her brown eyes widen before they shot back up to her face—truthfully they were honestly so assessable in this building, Paige found the copy when Kait was showing her around and finally found time to sneak off so she could read it.
Paige was dying with needing to know what her film was about, she couldn’t wait any longer and she caved soon as she saw the bold font.
“You stole the script?” Azzi asked her. “Of course not, I didn’t steal it, I borrowed it.” Paige looked down at the paper in her hands, she was only able to make it through a couple of pages and her first scene was them meeting for the first time. Azzi switched up the details a little making them meet up at a college party rather than a lecture, even with the brand new setting, the blonde could remember the day like it was yesterday.
“I wasn’t going to, I was gonna wait for you.” Azzi took the script from her hands abruptly, spinning her body before she could snatch it back making Paige hands glide past her waist with her spinning away from her. Azzi moved quick as she flicked through the pages, there was so many copies but so many different scenes and she was grateful to know that she only really only had the first beginning part. The brunette spun around towards her again with the script behind her back this time, a stretch away from her now. “I wanted to show you myself, I wasn’t prepared yet.”
Paige frowned her pink lips, eyeing the script behind her before looking back at her face. “Why?”
Azzi groaned, her arm shooting up. “Well first you just scared the life outta me cause I couldn’t find you.” Paige laughed at her then, the noise of it filling the room. “That’s funny?” Azzi asked her only making the blonde buss out laughing harder, she was even bent forward with her crying laughter it only made the brunette eyes roll at her. She was so extra, her laughter eventually making her giggle when she straightened up.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you, I knew you’d find me so I just kept going further and further.” Her dimples were so deep into her cheeks at this point, she shook her head, going back to the problem at hand. “I really can’t believe you read this Paige, next time, you’re going to my office.” Paige shrugged her shoulders then, her hands crossing across her chest now.
“Why you acting like I would hate it?” She questioned her genuinely, she knew that if Azzi put anything on that paper, she would’ve been inlove.
The brunette shook her head though. “It’s not about that. I just wanna make sure I got it right, now that you seen it—it’s like it’s really real, all of it’s real.” The blonde was studying her for quiet moment feeling nothing but gratitude flowing through her veins, she still was trying to eye the packet she had behind her back. “I couldn’t hate anything you make. You could’ve had cereal falling from the sky and I would’ve loved it all, don’t underestimate how talented you are.” Paige spoke to her, the words of encouragement making Azzi’s head lower again to look at her script in her hands.
Months of proofreading, casting, all the work she has put towards her dream and it’s finally coming true with her own story. “You’ve always done that, always dimmed yourself and it isn’t even to make other people feel good but to make yourself feel good like you’re preparing for the criticism that hasn’t even came yet—or surely, doesn’t even exist.” It’s only been a day in a half and she was reading her like she’d never left. “Don’t do that. You’re perfect—it’s perfect.” Azzi giggle was off instinct after it, she was nervous and couldn’t help the laugh coming out of her lips.
“You haven’t even read the whole thing.”
“I read enough to know you put my name in the acknowledgments.” Paige walked towards her, it only took a few steps before she was in front of her again with the close proximity. The fragrance of her cologne that she asked for from the mall filled Azzi’s nostrils, it was made just for the blonde with that bittersweet scent. It made Azzi step forward with just a simple pace allowing the smell to take over her entirely, she missed this girl so damn much that it was starting to make her chest ache. Azzi blinked with her eyes coming up to look at her, her bottom teeth going into her bottom lip from her smile spreading. “You’re dumb.” Paige smiled at it coming from her, the sudden moment of Paige moving slick to reach behind her and take the script back from her grasp making the brunette gasp from her snatching.
Even when Azzi tried to reach for it again, she only held it high over her head with their laughter filling the room now indefinitely. “You’re horrible Paige, oh my God—I have heels on!” The brunette screeched when she finally gave up and the blonde still had it in her grip. “You missed me, admit it for me first.”
Azzi looked at her, her eyes squinting only briefly. “I did. I missed you a lot, everyday was about you.”

“Will you always remain dirty minded for the rest of your life?” Azzi asked her with her head popping back into the camera of her iPhone, she was now currently putting up the rest of the dinner that she had made for them both tonight. Paige explained she was in need for some shrimp Alfredo bad with the specific Red Lobster biscuits—she seen them at the grocery store when they did a little bit of shopping when Azzi left the office and she begged her to make them, she of course couldn’t tell her girl no so she spent her evening being a Chef with making dinner. It was something so simple yet the blonde still scarfed down three bowls of it, she would’ve finished the entire pot tonight if Azzi didn’t tell her to wait till tomorrow. It was the only compromise she could make with her, it was going on eleven at night at this point as she fastened the plastic container of Alfredo shut. Paige finished the biscuits indefinitely, that pan itself already washed and put away along with the pot and she also had the task of taking off her acrylics for her nail appointment tomorrow morning.
“You know me! I need the details Azzi, I’m gonna jump off a cliff.” Dahlia’s voice came through her iPhone speakers with her and the trio being on a group FaceTime call. “You literally out the country right now, if you don’t go enjoy that damn trip before I do it for you.” Melissa told her, the camera angled with her lying in the bed with a bonnet tied securely and a moisturized face. Dahlia had graduated UConn and took on her dream with being a Victoria Secret model, she literally traveled all around the world whenever prompted and currently was on her many off seasons in Punta Cana. They all had a pact that once a year, when VS had their show, both Melissa and Azzi had to be in the crowd.
Azzi had filled her in on Paige being back home and and she had been gushing with the excitement for Azzi the entire time, she made her swear to call her once she got home. “I know, I know, look at this view.” Dahlia had been taking relaxation to an ultimate max, she was living her life through her best friends for sure. She was flipping her camera around to show the view in front of her, she was walking throughout the Bávaro Beach and they could see the water hitting shore from her angle. “It’s so beautiful, can we do a trio trip next time?” Melissa questioned them both as they were locked on their screens to watch the view before Dahlia flipped the phone back over to her with a smile on her face—she was beautiful, fully defined soft lips with long lashes, the Latina ended up dying her hair a midnight black that still remained thick and long behind her. It was parted down the middle on both sides of her face before she tossed it over her shoulder, continuing to walk.
“I would love that, let’s start planning right now.” Azzi agreed on her end, she was coming back towards the camera as she sipped from her water bottle. “We really gotta make it happen, I miss my girls.” Dahlia frowned her lips in the camera making them both go sweet on her.
“We miss youuuu.” Both Melissa and Azzi said in a unison. That was just when the blonde had came from the back, she had took another shower and was now dressed in more comfortable clothing that she had gotten this morning. The shirt along with the basketball shorts though had been underneath the Versace bathrobe that she refused to take off since they gotten back, she purchased her a black one whilst Azzi had her pink one hanging in her room. It was crazy because she had bought it so long ago and really only wore it twice; now that they have matching ones, she planned to wear hers more often. With Azzi’s head rising, Dahlia was already on it. “Is that her? Hey jailbird!” Azzi kissed her teeth and looked back at the camera to see both Melissa and Dahlia dying of laughter whilst the blondes eyes rolled.
“Very very funny, hi.” She said and with Azzi’s eyes trailing back to her, she could finally notice the locked container in her grasp. It made her eyebrows push together as she sat her bottle down. “Okay guys, I’ll talk to y’all later. Take more pictures for me D please, I love y’all!”
Dahlia nodded. “Okayy promise pinky, estoy muy feliz por ti, mami!” After she blew her one last kiss, she ended the call with her eyes trailing to the blonde in front of her.
“Snooping?” Azzi asked her with a hand coming to her hip like she was truly disappointed, the sound of the container popping open was the only noise they had now. “Never. I just got curious, you don’t even smoke, these yours?” Azzi had slowly nodded her head yes, her eyes going to the pre rolls that were stacked neatly inside of it along side the lighter that was at the bottom of it. With it being in her hands currently, she felt a flash of embarrassment for some reason. For the first time in a long one, she didn’t need any weed, her first thought would’ve been to toss them like trash if she didn’t honestly forget about them.
Paige had been looking down at the container like a newfound treasure. “Can I light one?” The question was almost unbelievable before Azzi had laughed softly at her, almost disbelieving. “Seriously?” Paige quickly nodded her head after that, her hair was only wet a little with it sitting to her shoulders while she tilted her hand to allow the container to shut close.
“Come on.” Azzi spoke softly to her, she even left her phone sitting there on the counter whilst she reached her hand first to shut the big light off inside so that no bugs would attract. The brunette moved her feet then with her hand laced within the blondes so that they could go to her sliding door, she slid it back and stepped outside and with this being the first time Paige had ever been on her balcony, she allowed her eyes to roam the small city of Storrs beneath them. Azzi though had been sitting on the ground with her back against the railing, she brought her knees up so that she could hug herself tight in her satin sleeping shorts and the loose long sleeved tee that she had on. Paige was only standing for a minute before she turned to sit down in the spot Azzi would normally be sitting in, her long legs had her having to adjust making her cross them underneath her. “When you start?” Paige asked, popping it open again to pick up the pre-rolled, she was bringing it to her lips and the typical routine of her lighting it had Azzi’s eyes set on her only as she inhaled the smoke.
Azzi shrugged a shoulder, remembering her question after a few seconds. “Few years ago, something to do when there was nothing to do.” Paige’s first hit, she could feel the smoke filling her entirely. Going from getting high everyday just to switch to none at all was a huge adjustment and she felt herself floating off the first hit, she hit it again swiftly with a smooth french inhale throughout her nose before she blew the rest from her mouth. Azzi was resting her head on her arms, just in a deep fascination with who was really sitting in front of her. Azzi came to the conclusion this wasn’t some type of dream at all, the shit was utterly and undeniably real, everything about this interaction had been real.
The smoke curled within the night, she hit it twice more before she raised up a bit to pass it off to the brunette who moved to unlace her arm from under her head to take it. Azzi hit it easy, she inhaled it deep before blowing the smoke into the air, leaning behind herself a little so that she could ash it in the tray. When she had turned her body back around, Paige was just eyeing her, her stare was soft though and Azzi kept the contact with bringing the blunt back up to her lips. “I missed you too.” Paige spoke, her hands between her legs now as she rested against the door.
“I know I don’t say it often or say much of anything but it’s already like I’ve missed everything with you. You’re this huge fucking celebrity but then there’s me, you really made something outta yourself and you still want me anyway. My mind hasn’t caught up to that fact yet.” Paige rambled whilst Azzi brought it back to her lips again, she blinked as she watched her talk. “I guess there was just a part of me that thought this wouldn’t have went like this—I just knew you moved on and I wouldn’t even have known, I was expecting anything. What am I gonna do with my life?”
Azzi lifted, handing it back to her. “There’s always something to do down at the company. I can put you somewhere your comfortable, you don’t have to start over Paige, not when I have everything here for you.” She tried to answer the jumbles of questions quick as she could,
“I’ve been alive and breathing this whole time without you on the outside but on the inside, I’m still there. I’ve never left that night, it fucked me up bad then without knowing how to reach you. Nobody can do what you do to me, I wasn’t even looking for that anyway.” Azzi reassured her with her own lowed eyes, resting back against the railing with her eyes set on her. Paige nodded her head at her words, bringing it to her lips as well. “It wasn’t even what I expected it to be like, I thought I’d be scared the whole time.” She spoke, her head going back against the door and Azzi still just listened with her head going back to her arms for warmth.
It was an admiration that she watched her with. She hung onto every word she’d say to her. “I was at first.” Paige said quietly like she didn’t want anyone to hear her confession but the brunette heard her clear. “I remember first night, they just closed the door and left me in there and all I did was sit there.” Paige’s mind evidently went back to that metal clanking close and the officers who teased her with a goodnight with the unnecessary chuckles walking down the hall—she was one of Simon’s, a drug lord who had been most hated, they couldn’t wait to charge her with anything.
“I couldn’t really sleep. Everytime I shut my eyes, all I could think about was you.” She brought it back to her lips again, the smoke making her feel a loose she hadn’t felt in four years and extremely talkative. She had the sudden urge to get everything off her chest. “I would wonder if you hated me or if you were really still waiting for me like you said you would, I tried to keep the few letters that I had but they started tossing those too. I had to switch prisons cause of my status, I was an adult convicted felon and my lawyer sucked ass.” Paige shook her head, she hated the lawyer that was appointed to her, she truly didn’t help her case one bit.
“Sometimes they would do shakedowns—tore my whole cell apart looking for contraband, they’d pull everything out, dump all my shit on the floor, flip mattress—they would look through everything just to pin anything on you. Then, we’d have to put the shit back exactly how it was.” Azzi’s heart had tightened in her chest with listening to her, she was speechless for any words so she just sat there with her voice in her head. “There had been days I wouldn’t really talk much. I’d just sit there, I would answer people if I really had to but I stopped feeling like myself after awhile.”
“No one visited you?” Azzi asked her softly, the wind picking up around them.
Paige thought about it, her words coming out her mouth slowly. “Just one. Simon had a wife and kid, she visited me twice before they transferred me.” Azzi frowned her eyebrows. “Really?”
The blonde nodded her head. “He only brought her up to me once, I thought he was to drunk though and was talkin’ out his ass. She stayed out the country, he had her hidden apparently and could only really visit her once a month.” The two gathered a smooth rotation with the blunt in hand.
The brunette through reached further to grab onto her lighter, she had to light it again allowing it to hit properly once she inhaled. “She use to tell me that I was the last person alive who was loyal to him. In a way, she promised me my safety in there by making sure nobody fucked with me. All of it is hers now, she runs that mob and her gift to me was letting me be a free woman once I got out. As long as I didn’t snitch, she didn’t care what I did after—I didn’t have the heart to tell her that I knew her son was plotting against them the whole time and I ain’t say shit.” Paige was high for sure at this rate, just talking because she had someone to finally listen.
Azzi lifted her head to rest it in her palm. “Is Dre still alive too?” She asked her, more curious than ever.
Paige shook her head. “She killed him.” Paige said it simply enough but the gasp that came from Azzi was truly genuine. “Her own son?”
“Her own son.” Paige stated, nodding her head.
“Wow.” Azzi was speechless as she looked straight ahead, her head shaking.
“What about your family?”
“I sent them one letter when I first had gotten locked up. I didn’t get anything back from them though so I waited and waited and never decided to try again. You really do loose yourself in there, I stopped caring about it all at a point, it was an endless loop of hope that I couldn’t get away from.” Azzi nodded her head, feeling her words even though she wasn’t in a prison but it felt like that everyday whenever she wasn’t in her presence. “Would you wanna try again?” Paige looked over at her this time, her head nodding a slow yes, she couldn’t even say the words aloud.
“We can go tomorrow. I’ll take you to get a phone so that you could.” Paige instantly shook her head from that. “Azzi, you not finna keep spending crazy money on me like this.”
Azzi shrugged. “In a way, you funded Black Pictures. The money you left for me, I put it all towards making my dream. I owe you.” Paige’s face went straight. “You don’t owe me anything.”
A laugh slipped from Azzi at her sudden seriousness before she straightened up. “It’s okay Paige,” She spoke sincerely, scooting over a little to sit more closer towards her but still on the opposite side. “I want to. I don’t wanna have to keep having this conversation because I know what I want, I’ve known it for the past four years and I’ll literally break the fucking bank on you just to have you right here with me.” Paige went silent after her words, that feeling the weed had been giving her and the girl sitting next to was taking her mind by a frenzy. It was making her tingle—she truly hadn’t felt like this in forever, she allowed her legs to untangle so she could sit them out in front of her.
“Can you come closer?” Azzi was moving once she heard the simple word can, walking with her knees as she came in her direction and she went to sit down next to her but Paige held onto the small of her small waist to spring her forward on her lap. Azzi’s hands instantly went to her shoulder blades as she laughed breathlessly at her embracing her tight, she was squeezing her making her head backwards with her laughs as she tried to wiggle out of her grasp. “Chilllll, chill, isn’t that what you told me?” Azzi giggled at her, leaning her head down now to look at her pretty face just to find Paige already looking directly at her. Azzi had slid her hands into her robe by now though, the thick bow of it unlacing as her hands circled towards her back. Paige was warm in the robe, she clasped her hands together behind her as the two only watched one another with a love they were itching to give. Azzi could feel both heartbeats thumping, the one between her legs though had been pulsing with a need to be in her lips.
The stare was lengthy. Something they could share together in the moment, something they’d have to cherish. Azzi was able to trace her hands against her muscles now, they were very much big in a healthy way that let her knew how much she kept up with herself in there. They had been together for almost two days now and hadn’t even shared something simple as a kiss, it wasn’t like neither of them didn’t want to but it felt to sacred. They each had their light and confidence with certain situations but kissing had them both spared; neither of them brought it up, neither tried to. The silence of the cars were the only noise the world offered them, the girls browned hues flicking towards her lips but still couldn’t lean in.
Her world was in her hands currently. She could feel her, Azzi could even listen to her voice. It was nothing that was better than this, she needed her entirely bad to give her an affection only she could suffice. “That thing on your counter,” Paige broke the silence and Azzi’s eyes lifted back to her face with a hum. “It can play anything?” She asked and Azzi nodded her head yes, knowing she was referring to her Alexa.
“When I was locked up, I did have this old man in there who was just full of regrets and lost dreams. His name was Johnny but he was probably lying about that—got locked up for some drug bust is what he’d say one day but then he would switch the story up the next, he was really my only highlight in there.” Paige smirked making Azzi follow pursuit with her listening to her. “Johnny use to play this song though. It reminded me so much of you, it’s supposed to be sad but I don’t know, it’s comforting.”
Azzi tilted her head. “Sounds like us.” They both laughed at that before Paige spoke up again. “Could I play it for you?” The nod from the brunette came quick as she stood up to her feet, the blonde had grabbed the container off the floor and they both had walked back inside. The air greeting them again and Paige sat the container down on the stand, she made quick feet over towards her Alexa that was sitting quietly in her kitchen. Azzi had been leaning against the wall with her eyes set on her, her arms coming up and across her chest again as she watched the blonde lean down close to the speaker like it was a telephone.
“Hey—, wait, what’s her name?” Azzi giggled. “Alexa.” Paige nodded her head understanding, leaning on the counter.
“Hey Alexa,” The speaker lit up, “Play Just to keep You Satisfied by Marvin Gaye.” Alexa had repeated the song in question and the title was unfamiliar to Azzi so she still just rested there, that was until the song had fulfilled the room. It sounded beautiful, classical almost and his voice was smooth throughout her kitchen. The song was slow, almost heartbreaking but something about his voice settled deep into her making her pay attention to the lyrics closely. The instrumentation felt soulfully enlightened, his steady voice that made the pain seem more personal rather than dramatic. It was a beautiful melody and the blonde was slipping the robe off of her body, sitting it best on the countertop as she could.
Paige approached her with her hand out. “I remember when he played it for the first time and I cried like a baby, I cried that whole night because I couldn’t stop thinking of what was taken away from us.” Azzi had slipped her hand inside of hers and Paige twirled her smoothly, their arms going up in the air as Azzi spun swiftly in a circle. She stepped her outwards and Azzi was following her rhythm before she pulled her back in making the brunette wrap her arms around her neck; Paige had her hands braced on her waist, they swayed softly with the music in the background. “You didn’t bless me with dreams every night but when I had them? I’d think about them for the whole day til cell time. I’d go back to sleep that night hoping there would be another waiting for me but I’d wake up heartbroken with nothing.” Her words made Azzi’s face warm, her nose going to her shirt with her fingers lifting to touch her hair.
No perfect moments and barely any rhythm—Azzi had her head going back to giggle at the blonde losing her pace but Paige would just spin her again whenever she messed up. “Still can’t dance.” Azzi cracked on her and Paige pulled her back in towards her chest, her laugh overlapping the music itself.
“I was incarcerated Azzi geez, not taking dance classes.” It made Azzi burst out with laughter, she swayed with her regardless as they went in small circles around her kitchen. The lighting from the stove reflecting them just enough making their shadows stick to the ground underneath them as they moved in a slow rhythm for only a minute, dwelling in one another feverishly. Paige even started to sing a little of the words to her, Azzi’s head tip backwards with her thumbs going to her cheeks at the sound of her soft octave.
They were watching one another again. That stare before anything took place between them, that understanding within the eyes that still remained.
“I wanna marry you.” Paige spoke up, her eyes a bloodshot now and Azzi smiled lazily. “You have to kiss me first.” She whispered to her, Paige only looked over her face briefly before she leaned in. Their lips touched and Azzi felt herself melt entirely, they kissed one another so sensually, Paige felt like she for sure lost half of her game but this? Kissing Azzi Fudd could never be forgotten, she was mouthing her whole just as the kiss turned hungrier with their need for one another and Azzi slid her hands up entirely to touch her face. It was a meaningful kiss even with the mess they were starting to make with it, the blonde hummed against her and she felt the noise rattle her insides.
“Jump.” Paige spoke against her lips and Azzi hopped up with her hands pressed into the back of her thighs making the brunette hook both of her legs around her waist, Paige carried her weight easy as she headed backwards towards the room. The blonde bypassing the Alexa that had started to replay the song after it had just ended; Azzi had pressed the plus on top of it making the music turn up all the way, the mellow beat filled their home again as she walked her towards the back. Her room sitting at the end of the hallway and Paige navigated clearly enough with her eyes closed for a minute, a soft catching of her breath when Azzi lips slowly slid towards the skin of her neck. Azzi stuck her tongue out to drag it from the bottom of her ear towards that small crevices of the neck and shoulder blade before she opened her mouth wider to suck on the skin, her warm tongue still pressed against it and even when Paige laid her down to her back she still didn’t let her neck go. Paige eyes had fluttered closed as she relaxed soon as she laid Azzi down, squeezing the spaces next to her head when she trailed her tongue towards the other side of her neck.
It’s been so long since she’d been touched like this. Her ocean eyes fluttering before the blonde eventually lifted her hand to grab onto her chin, she broke the attachment her lips had with her neck to lean her head down and kiss her lips again. Paige held her face in one hand—Azzi kissed her back sloppily, they were controlled though in a way that had Paige dripping. It made her break the kiss again so she could stand up straight, she was coming out her shirt whilst Azzi was lifting hers up too by the hem before tossing it off.
She wore no bra underneath it, Paige had her eyes set on her chest when she tugged her basketball shorts down quick. Paige stepped out of them with her hands going to Azzi’s shorts now to pull them down her long legs, her fingertips gliding past them on the way only making the brunette hands shake with need. Azzi felt her stomach heat when she eventually came back up her body making them both lock lips again in a deep tongue kiss, they couldn’t stop kissing at this point for longer than a minute before returning. The brunette was leaning herself back comfortably and Paige followed her down, her large hands at her sides was the only additional coldness she had to her heated body. She was all over her, she felt so weak underneath her and wanted to do whatever was asked of her.
She kissed her twice more before she went down her body, Paige couldn’t miss an inch. She was kissing on her neck; briefly hitting her chest before she came back up, she wanted to taste every part of her. The girls tongue coming out so she could slowly drag her tongue against the top half of her chest, the feeling had Azzi sighing towards the air even when she eventually trailed towards her nipple to suck it into her mouth. Her tongue flicking repeatedly against it had her soaking her panties along side her hands that never left her hips; the brunette’s back arching upwards towards the ceiling, the blonde still held her waist tightly. The feeling of her warm mouth had her close to cumming with just sucking her nipples, she would knick them with her teeth before soothing it again with a sensual suck.
The only noises the room had were relaxing breaths or Azzi’s soft moans like cries that slipped past her lips accidentally, she had her hands at her sides now with deep fists into the cover. “Paige please.” Azzi spoke up, she was shuddering with it just as her head moved to her other nipple to trace her tongue around that. The blonde was still silent, she was taking her time with the body that never truly forgotten her, Paige’s cold hues traced over it all. The warmth Paige gave her from laying her body flat at first went away when she leaned up, the blonde pulling off her panties. “S’okay, I’ll make it feel good. You know I will.” Her voice a kind whisper, two fingers teasing her naked thigh before going to rub circles on her wet clit whilst her free hand worked her boxers down her legs.
Azzi did knew that fact, she was aware of how good Paige was about to make her feel. Her eyes regularly got watery during the actual sex part but never before; not like this, she blinked once and the tear slid down her cheek making her whole face warm and Paige caught it expeditiously. “You okay?” Paige questioned her firstly before she continued and Azzi quickly nodded her head, she opened her mouth to say something but only a cracked version of her voice came past her lips. “Baby…talk to me.” Paige pleaded with her, she hadn’t even called her that yet and Azzi genuinely couldn’t understand how her body was functioning right now. She felt herself getting more emotional but she was still so turned on right now, she wanted to just be in Paige’s skin so she’d never have to leave her ever again.
“I’m okay, I just love you.” She tried not to be the first to say it, not like it was wrong or a bad thing to but she wanted Paige to be that vulnerable with her whenever she was ready. The years they missed out on could never come back and Azzi wanted nothing more but for the rest of them to be nothing less then perfect, it’s what they deserved. Paige had been lifting her legs then, her weight coming to the mattress first and it made Azzi move to spread her legs apart wider. Paige hooked her left her around Azzi’s, her knee meeting her hip exactly with her right still allowing her legs to spread wide enough that her pussy was exactly on top of Azzi’s. Paige moved her hand to grip her ankle in her hand whilst the brunette had her free hand on Paige’s leg that remained at her hip, she slowly exhaled when the blonde brought her hips down to make their pussies touch.
The weight of Paige on top of her felt so comforting, Azzi squeezed her leg in her grip next to her with her own hips slightly rising making their clits catch and slide together perfectly. Paige moaned on top of her from the sudden angle switch; she felt it in her pussy immediately, her blonde hair cradling her face with her head tilted down to watch it go down in real time.
Paige could express herself with her body, especially with Azzi, even when they were in college, she felt like her words were never as equivalent whenever she touched her. Paige’s head came up again though, the blondes eyes still lowed currently from the blunt sitting in her system and the repetitive feeling between her legs. “I love you,” Paige spoke up just to move her hand down where they continued to meet, she touched her pussy with only three simple circles before she used her two fingers to spread her lips. Her concentration was undeniable with her hips now starting to move against her clit. “I love you so much beautiful.” Paige repeated and Azzi gasped each time her hips dipped low, her belly clenching with the sight.
Both her hands came to grip onto her arms this time, she squeezed them and with her nails pressing into her skin it made the blonde eyes go towards her face, her bottom lip going between her teeth at the sight of her. Azzi’s eyes were lazily blinking with trying to keep them open, Paige continued grinding her hips upwards—those wet-sticky pats filling the room of them meeting repeatedly, it took her a minute but she eventually gathered that chef’s kiss angle for them to glide across one another everytime.
The blonde moved her hand to lean her body forward a little to make their chest touch together and Azzi felt the orgasm brewing in a restrained way that made her wetter. “You cumming?” Paige asked her before kissing her deep in her mouth and only giving Azzi enough time to nod her head yes, she hoped the answer would suffice but Paige’s whispered into her open mouth making her voice fill her head again. “Tell me baby—say it please, who you cumming for?” Azzi scratched her nails against her shoulders, her voice coming out so desperate,
“You, you baby—you makin’ me cum” Azzi spoke back to her and it suddenly snapped. Paige only had to watch Azzi’s orgasm take over and the way her face morphed into a bliss when she came, it only pushed for her to let hers go as well, their wetness trialing down Azzi’s pussy and ruining the bottom half of the bed beneath them.
After it overcame them both was when Paige leaned down again so that she could kiss her. The blonde indefinitely lifted her hips up though with her hand smooth sailing down in between her own legs, Paige felt her pussy still pulsing and the sensitivity didn’t even matter, she only rubbed her clit faster. Once the brunette realized what she was doing, she slowly licked her lips with her chest rising and falling, she watched the blonde above her moan against her skin. “Touch me please.” Paige whispered to her and Azzi instantly moved her hand, she twisted her wrist so that she could touch her clit. Paige was soaked, she moaned at how she found her with two fingers circling her clit and the blonde spreaded her legs further on top of her to rest of her knees.
“F-fuckk yes—yes” Paige repeated with her eyes slowly closing all together, both her hands going back to the sides of her head, her hips slowly bumping upwards to make them glide past her pearl easier. Her sticky mess made a soft noise that grew louder the longer she played with her pussy, she could feel the blonde trembling on top of her making her lift her head up best she could to press soft kisses to her cheek, trailing to her ear. “Relax your legs.” Paige was trying to keep most of her weight on her legs so she wouldn’t practically crush the girl underneath her, she shook her head mindlessly feeling her abdomen tighten quicker from the sound of her voice.
“I’ll be fine, please, I want you to lay on me.” Azzi kissed the outer of her ear and Paige groaned with her head even dipping then and forehead going to her shoulder just when Azzi pushed her fingers upwards making her pointer and middle finger glide inside of her, Paige had melted, allowing all of her weight to weigh on Azzi. “Does it feel good?” Paige brought her head lazily up from the question with her pupils barely visible, she adjusted her leg underneath her making it bend at the knee to spread her wider.
“Yess baby, I’m finna cum—I’m cumming.” It made Azzi speed up from the noise and she watched her eyes slip backwards, her blonde hair going behind her then with her head going backwards as well and Azzi bit her lip with watching her fall apart on top of her. Paige had her entire hand drenched from the position they laid in, she had pushed herself up though as soon as she came, the overstimulation making her whimper.
Azzi had caught her lips once her head slowly came back down after her high then lifted up a bit to flip them over and Paige went willingly to lay on her back as they ate one another up in the deep kiss, their heads moved clockwise to kiss deeper but then the brunette pushed upwards. She lifted her hand and stretched so that she could pull the drawer open by her bedside, she reached inside and pulled out the pink colored double-sided dildo, she only really used it a handful but it’s been a minute since she had came from it. The sight made Paige’s eyebrows frown though. “Whatchu be doing with that?” The question made her smirk as she adjusted back on top of her.
She shrugged, simply enough. “I like to experiment.” The simple sentence still made the blonde smirk and she had started to brace herself better, only pushing up a bit so the back of her head could rest against her pillows. “Is it okay for you?” Azzi tried to make sure with her, even scooting up the bed a little bit herself so that she was still between her legs. Paige nodded her head yes with her legs spreading, she had them caging Azzi in.
Azzi had gripped it in her hands just as she brought it to Paige’s entrance, she tried not to push it in right away only stimulating her clit with the tip making her moan at the top of the bed. Azzi felt her own pussy clench with her playing with her clit like that whilst Paige just tried to keep her hands out of her way so she left them at her sides. Paige was whispering a soft praise when she finally pushed it inside of her, her pussy was so wet and watching her take it so easily had Azzi’s heart hammering in her chest. The brunette looked up towards her face when she pushed it inside her deeper, she was still looking up whilst then going to lean down to take the opposite side of the toy in her mouth. “Shiittt.” Paige groaned at the sight of her head going up and down against the other end, wetting it just enough with her free hand still moving it inside of her.
“Azzi bro, I’m a cum if you keep doing that.” Paige had to move her hands this time to touch her arms and Azzi was sticking her tongue up to run it against the side of it before she lifted up again completely. She was smiling at seeing how undone she already had her, she was lifting her legs though so that she could slide on the other end. “I’m sorry but please don’t—hold it for me Paige just for a little bit.” Azzi whispered, she wanted to cum at the same time again and she was already there when she sunk down on the other end. The girth stretching her was as delicious as it always was and when the blonde underneath her, it was only making the feeling ten times better.
Paige had eased her hands towards her hips, deep breaths left her lips with the breath taking sight above her. Paige tried to concentrate on her entirely rather than the feeling between her legs, the girl having to cum so bad underneath her that it was making her stomach start to ache. Paige switched paces and started to guide her suddenly with watching their pussies stretch around the toy, she would pull her low enough making it slip deeper inside of them both. “Oh my God” Azzi moaned with both her hands going to her headboard to hold herself up—her own eyes set on the scene of them too. They were moaning together as Azzi moved her hips with whatever motion worked best, her eyes slipped shut just losing the pace for a second. “Open them.” Her brown hues opened just to find Paige watching her now, her flat palm coming up her stomach.
Paige pushed her up from the headboard making both her hands go back to rest on her thighs, she kept her eyes open whole time. The intensity of this position never left the room. It was something special about whatever push and pull they gave one another, it was a stimulation that they both could feel. It created a physical sensation for them both when Azzi pushed herself up higher with a new position to ease her hips down at, Azzi felt Paige squeeze her tighter at it. Azzi movements started to become frantic suddenly with chasing that orgasm that she needed to feel so bad, it made the material bend between them and Paige couldn’t help the groan slipping from her mouth. “Oh fuck” The length going fully inside of her from the motion—she moved her hand to grip it between them to keep it straight on both of their ends with her eyes rolling upwards then closing, her moans a soft noise but Azzi could hear her perfectly.
“Fuckk Azzi, I can’t hold it no more—” The blonde breathed and Azzi’s body rolled rhythmically. “Cum with me baby—we can cum together.” The spell she laid on her was insane because soon as Paige heard the words, she came so hard, her pussy was dripping and even after she came she couldn’t help but to get more wetter. It was leaving her trembling against the bed and Azzi was right behind her too with a soft hush of her voice and her moans that she breathed into her mouth once she leaned down to kiss her lips. The brunette lifted her hips then all the while pulling it completely out of Paige and the blonde exhaled against her lips at the feeling, Azzi had only kissed her in her mouth again with sitting aside the toy while they kissed.
The music remained in the background of them. It played softly from the kitchen, they honestly had forgotten about it but the noise filled the room again once they panted against one another lips. Their hearts were beating against one another’s with Azzi laying flat against her chest, they shared a simple heartbeat in the moment as they watched one another with that love that never went away. “I love you Azzi Fudd.” Paige’s eyes jumped around the perfect face on top of her—the brunettes dimples sank deeper into her cheeks from the sudden sentence, her innocence slowly finding her again as she giggled against her mouth.
“I love you Paige Bueckers, I never stopped.”
friend if you were to write anything more I would really love if you wrote that senator intern au the concept of that is actually killing me
well i made azzi a senator not the intern because i thought it was funnier and less appropriate but here's my late night bullshit drabble for the people

| tuesday, 9:00 a.m. |
paige cleared her throat as she pressed dial. the phone rang once, twice. an intern picked up.
"what up, jessica," paige grinned, picturing the intern's face.
"paige," the intern greeted her emotionlessly. "what'll it be today?"
"i'm calling as a constituent of senator fudd to urge her to vote against confirming todd blanche as attorney general."
"okay, i've noted that, paige."
"not gonna ask me for my address this time?"
"i know your address."
"does that ever feel creepy to you? that you know my number by heart and also my address? doesn't that signal any red flags about the surveillance state?" paige asked, trying to keep the laugh out of her voice.
"no."
paige sighed. jessica needed to lighten up.

here ya go 🫶
Y’all do realize these haters are NEVER going to stop, right? Paige and Azzi could literally drop a picture kissing and these people would still be like, “Yeah, but you can see it in their eyes that they don’t love each other anymore.” 😂
They will ALWAYS find some way to discredit their relationship. At this point, the best thing we can do is simply not give a fuck. As annoying as they are, that’s really the only solution. REPORT, BLOCK, and MOVE ON. That’s it. 😌
