One thing that no one told Fig about touring is that, most of the time, it’s really fucking boring.

The shows themselves are a whirlwind - the bright lights, the raucous crowd, the infectious energy that propels her through each song. And the novelty of entering a new city is fun, at least for a little bit. But for the most part, it’s just sitting - in the tour bus, in a hotel room, while waiting for the band to get set up on stage.

But even though the ever-present din of the city is loud - the honking of automobiles, the light chatter of voices on the streets below, the cooing of pigeons at ungodly hours of the night - it’s still quiet where it matters. There aren’t the sounds of a cane as it tap-taps against the floor, the quiet shuffling of papers as Sylvester pours over case details, soft humming along to the radio as he cooks dinner.
