Dragon Age: The Veilguard - Now Taking Apps

Hey there folks, your lovely admin again. I'm here to announce that we are officially accepting applications for Veilguard-specific canons, OCs, and ROOK! Yes, that's right, players are now able to submit character sheets to us in order to apply for the coveted role of Rook.

How does this work?

Just like when choosing our Hero of Ferelden and Inquisitor, players who are interested in the protagonist role should submit their character app to us like normal. Once all submissions are in, the mod team will review any and all apps, then open it up to a server-wide voting process. The Rook who gains the popular vote is who gets the role. Simple right?

Stipulations include:

No players with an existing protagonist can apply (hof, hawke, etc) this is only fair, naturally.

Players with a large character roster should strongly consider if they can handle a protagonist role before applying

Protagonist players should be expected to "lead" their game timeline, almost like a GM of sorts. Of course the mods and actual GMs in the server will be there for support.

Submissions close and voting begins at the end of this month/the start of February so you have plenty of time to write up your sheet and get ready!

Happy New Year from everyone over on DA:AWWS!

What are some of your RP goals for the new year? Now is never a better time to join a new group and meet some wonderful new friends. We plan to be opening up Veilguard content here sometime in the coming weeks or month, depending on how everyone is feeling activity wise. Our goal was to make sure everyone had enough time to immerse themselves in the new game first before we opened the new locations and started taking apps for VG only characters.

Another idea, proposed by one of our wonderful GMs was the idea of mini OOC events, such as movie/game nights, maybe starting a book club, etc. Sounds like fun to me, so that will be something we can start workshopping.

What does "Canon Flexible" mean?

So one of the things I LOVE to emphasize about the server is that we are "lore/canon flexible" which means that the existing lore and canon setting is simply just a staging ground for us to write within. We adhere to many of the important lore notes, like major events and important aspects of the canon characters.

But little things like letting certain characters live (Karl, Malcolm, we talked about Duncan and Riordan if a player wants), allowing for all of the Origins to exist, both Hawke twins are alive, some families (Hawkes especially) have more family members like an extra sibling, and even cousins. Some players made more "Disciple" characters, the Inquisitor completed both IHW and CotJ, etc, etc. Half-elves? Different cultures? Blight researchers who are friends with the Darkspawn Disciples and the Architect? Sounds like fun.

The rule of thumb is if you can find a way to justify it and make it work, and if you think it would only enhance the RP, then usually I say - bring it on.

If it wouldn't completely change the entire story to be unrecognizable, then I don't see the harm.

Yes, that's right, DA:AWWS is on the hunt for a new Josie! We unfortunately lost our previous player and seek to fill the position once again.

Dragon Age: A World Worth Saving is a group RP server carefully curated and primarily geared toward the neurodivergent crowd in the RPC, those of us who have struggled in the past with other servers and found only friction and frustration rather than support and understanding.

We are 18+ so no minors permitted, as adult content is allowed and dark themes may be present.

Server runs on a "post at your own pace" method rather than enforcing activity checks

Veilguard canons are available to reserve but we won't be taking apps or begin RP in the new areas until after the new year sometime

OCs are cherished but still need to fit within the setting and players are responsible for finding connections and motivations within the story.

ANY named character ever featured in the games, books or stories is allowed but NOT the major big bads (evanuris, etc.) those are NPC only.

Come in and check us out. Lurkers are welcome but may be removed after a few months of not even speaking in the OOC. We just don't want inflated numbers. ♥

Another reminder that our server is extremely laid back, runs on a "post at your own pace" style and exists mostly to serve the neurodivergent community who have struggled in the past with other servers being less accepting or tolerant of their idiosyncracies.

DA:AWWS is going through a lull currently due to the new game and life hitting some of us hard but we still love new faces and would love to invite you in to come and bring some life back to our halls!

Meet the DA:WWS mods!

Kat (me)

Server Owner/Lead Admin and your (not-so) fearless leader. In charge of overall server structure and maintenance. Typically, the final say on all major decisions. I try my best to be fair and reasonable in all areas. Catch me trying to link up players and muses, proposing ideas and being the general “hype man” for our little group. I play our resident Champion of Kirkwall, the other Hawke sister Bethany, Nate Howe, Karl Thekla resurrected, and an OC!

Night

My trusty assistant Admin and resident lore fiend. That said, he’s also a wonderful listener, a fantastic storyteller, and is our primary “night crew” leader with his odd hours, as he works overnights. You'll find him usually sharing anecdotes about his fellow overnighters, about the infamous "Chad" or just being a delightful presence within the server. He writes for everyone's favorite storytelling dwarf Varric, Dorian, Anders and a handful of OCs!

Ace

She was newly modded just early this year! Sweet as can be, our resident Grey Warden and DAO fan, as well as space nerd! Ace is always encouraging, a massive positive force for good and supportive. She has been incredibly helpful at handling tasks around the server, hyping up other players, and just overall being an amazing force of positivity and enthusiasm. She's our Alistair, Rylen, and Captain of the Kirkwall Guard Aveline! She also plays one of 2 Cousland siblings as well as one-half of the Trevelyan Cousin Duo!

DA:AWWS is a carefully cultivated haven specifically geared towards the neurodivergent folks in the fandom. We run on a “post at your own pace” concept, strive to be lore/canon flexible and provide a deeply supportive and creative safehaven to explore the concepts and ideas you couldn’t in the games or even other RP servers!

Additionally, while we cross timelines (from DAO to DAI), we run on ONE worldstate, meaning one protagonist for each timeline. We also boast a LGBTQIA+ majority player base, even making up 2 3rds of the mod team. If you're eager for a community where you can relax, be your genuine self, make lasting friendships, and feel like you can flex your creativity, then we welcome you!

What To Expect:

Players and characters must all be 18+ with no exceptions.

Personal pacing means NO activity requirements or check-ins!

Any named character from the games, books or comics are welcome, but the “big bads” are restricted to the mods only at this time.

OCs are always welcome, but should fit within the setting and have plenty of content. The mods are not responsible for driving your character’s motivations.

Plenty of channels and places to get help with developing your character and seeking out engagement with your fellow players!

Veilguard discussion is to be kept behind the spoilers channel for now. RP within VG’s setting is allowed in individual threads in our AU setting (meaning any and all Rooks are welcome) until the game has been out long enough and the server is updated to include it in the overarching worldstate.
