Baby had just finished a long week working for 6-days straight during the pandemic. It was Saturday evening. It was 6.30pm. She was stressed, fed up and exhausted. She didn’t even know if she wanted to be with anyone this weekend.
Daddy knew what needed to be done. But it had to be done right.
As soon as his little one arrived, Daddy took her belongings off her, and shushed her. He gave her the biggest hug in the world and kissed her on the forehead; something she had craved all day. He removed her shoes, picked her up like a tiny child straddling his hips and carried her up the flights of stairs straight to the bedroom. There, Daddy plopped a binkie in her mouth, placed Maya (her favourite penguin stuffy) in her arms and carried her to the bed.
“Alexa, play Disney playlist on Spotify” Daddy commanded. On came “Let it go” from Frozen.
Daddy started humming, gently removing his girlfriend’s work clothes.
“Shhhh, shhhh, it’s okay little one. Daddy’s here. I’m here for you. You’re going to be ok”.
Baby felt herself sink into the mattress, and started to squeeze Maya with all her might. She closed her eyes as she heard the familiar crinkle from the diaper drawer. Before she knew it, she could smell baby powder in the air and feel her legs crossed over in the air. She felt weightless as her bum was lifted and placed gently into a familiar thick padding. She was being diapered - just like a small baby. She gave a sigh of relief as the nappy between her legs taped firmly into place. Oh how thick and fluffy it felt - had Daddy put a booster in it?
Daddy sat baby up on the bed and proceeded to dress her into her pastel onesie. By now, all she could do was blush behind her pacifier and soak in how little she felt. Baby looked down whilst daddy dressed her. Oh my! She was wearing the new Rearz Alpaca diaper - how cute and thick they looked! “I love my daddy!”, she thought to herself as she was laid gently back down onto the bed - still only half dressed.
“Don’t go anywhere little one, ok? Daddy’s just gonna fetch you your baba and fluffy sockies…”
Baby closes her eyes and feels her Daddy’s peck on the cheek as he momentarily leaves the room. She tosses a bit, wrapping an arm around a pillow, getting comfy. Disney was still playing quietly in the background. She let out a massive sigh and felt every muscle of her body let go. A pleasant warmth trickled. She knew it wouldn’t be long until her Dada would return with a warm bottle of milk… just what she’d need to help her nap without a fuss…
Merely minutes later, Daddy returned with fluffy socks and a fresh bottle of warm milk in hand.
And his little one was already asleep.
