Just some tips from one caregiver to another. I hope these help you and your little to get a good night’s rest!
🌙 Don’t give them a hot bath before bed! ⭐️
Though it seems like a good idea to take a warm, relaxing bath to unwind, your body needs to be cool to sleep. So, if your little one wants a warm bubble bath, make sure it’s at least two hours before bedtime!
White noise is important! Not only is monotonous sound relaxing, it assures that your precious peach won’t wake up at every thumb and bump in the night!
🌙 Consider vitamin supplements! ⭐️
Melatoninis a well known vitamin to help with sleep, but Valerian is also really helpful! *Note: Always check with your doctor before introducing new substances to your diet. Valerian may react negatively when taken with some medicines.
⭐️ Quiet time before bed! 🌙
This means no loud noises, no screens, and no sweets. About an hour before bed, put away all the screens and just relax with your pumpkin. Read them a story, ask them about their day, give them puzzles to play with or a coloring book to draw in! Screens have blue lights in them which halt melatonin production, which prevents your little from getting sleepy!
🌙 Try to keep to a schedule! ⭐️
Routine is one of the best ways to promote good sleeping habits! Waking up, winding down, and going to sleep around the same time every day does wonders!
⭐️ Address fears and anxiety. 🌙
It may seem like it’s counteractive, but if your little one is worried or afraid of something, not talking about it isn’t going to help! If your little is scared of a monster under the bed, make some monster spray and get rid of it! If they’re worried about a test the next day, remind them they’re little geniuses, that they studied, and everything is going to be okay!
🌙 Make your little one feel good before sending them off to sleep. ⭐️
Ask them about their favorite part of the day. Praise them for a good deed. Remind them that they are the world’s greatest gift to you. Not only will this help your little wonder have sweet dreams, it will send them off to bed feeling ten feet tall!
