Haddatha-kathoth, or "Haddy" as Daedalus calls it, is a feminine entity known for its rule over death itself. Most refer to it with it pronouns, although feminine pronouns are acceptable.

Haddatha-kathoth was said to be behind some of the most horrific events involving the dead within human history, some of which had been erased. Even the concept of the zombie apocalypse is attributed to her by her worshippers, a concept helped along by the story of a kingdom whose blasphemous activities invoked her wrath and unleashed a great number of zombies to basically level the kingdom beneath their feet.

Her followers have waned in recent years, and when a feisty soul like Daedalus's arrived, the Old Ones chose him to be Haddatha-kathoth's new oracle and the key to bringing her back in her fullest glory.

She is known for her nearly-black red skin, many black and purple eyes, and fangs and tusks. Her hair is said to be darker than raven's feathers, the blackest of nights.

“it’s funny you should say that. i was about to ask you the same thing.” valdís can’t exactly help but wonder exactly why they had both seemed so determined to head exactly to the same place. ugh. it’d be great if having to be out at an ungodly hour like this at least could guarantee her privacy.

“i just so happen to have someone to visit there, & no, i was not intentionally following you. however… that is a good question. why are you out here in the middle of the night yourself?”

valis knew it wasn’t the greatest excuse in the book for the situation she’s found herself in, but she couldn’t exactly say there’s someone’s ghost with unfinished business there that i need to collect.

"funny. right. then we seem to be heading toward the same place.” he briefly considered standing his ground, just bickering with the woman until they threw down, but daedalus decided it wasn’t worth it. besides, he’d feel bad if she got hurt during a fight, a part of him knowing it was because of his mother’s memory lingering in the back of his mind.

after a few long moments, he sighed, turning away. “well, if we’re going to the same place...i guess we’re going to the same place, then. dunno if you’re, like...” another pause. it sounded stupid in his own mind, this euphemism, but he may as well try it anyway. “...y’know, a dealer in unfinished business, like me.”

at those last words, his hand touched at the bandages at his throat. she didn’t seem to be dealing with such a thing on the surface, but he wasn’t going to pry.

"uh, look, lady, you’ve been following me down the same three blocks. can i fucking help you?”

actually, at certain points, daedalus couldn’t help but wonder if he had been following her instead. it was actually kind of creepy, and for a moment, he wondered if this was one of those other “oracles” that haddy had implied him to be a part of. considering he knew nothing about “the great old ones”, this was probably the part where that was going to bite him in the ass.

“because if not, then why the hell are you going in my direction? to a graveyard, in the middle of the goddamned night?” he had the excuse of being a zombie, after all. something about eating brains.

“oh. you must be that traveler everyone’s talked about.” everyone living, that is. most of the dead that daedalus seemed to encounter came from times long before the traveler was reported to have arrived in the area. perhaps it was fortunate that they weren’t on some sort of rampage.

returning his gaze to the grave he had been led to, he closed his eyes briefly. this was the grave, all right, but the only thing he could deduce was that this one’s unfinished business was...want. ugh. he’d have to stay the night, wouldn’t he? all to hear this person’s unfinished business in an otherwise-dreamless slumber.

he gave a sigh, before removing his backpack. “what do you want? if you can’t tell, i’m pretty fuckin’ busy.”

“i guess it’d be easy to say the dead have no secrets if you can’t hear them.” a hand eases to his throat, making sure the bandages there were still tight, still fresh enough that the ever-flowing blood wouldn’t reveal itself too soon.

the last thing he wanted was to cause a scene.

turning to the bookshelf, he pondered for a few moments, before returning his gaze onto her. “you guys don’t, like, happen to have an obituary? library like this, you’d expect something, but...can’t find one.”

if it was handled by the church, though, he’d likely have to skip out. not because he was afraid of the archon, otherwise he would’ve just stayed in fontaine. no, he’d heard rumors about the nuns.

and he’d rather deal with this woman than the crazy that these nuns possessed.

"the last tip turned out pretty good. got a bunch of crap i don’t need, so...”

backpack slung onto table, before the straps are undone and the “shop” rolled out. lithe fingers picked out several items ---- three simple golden bands, an old book, and what appeared to be a ringbox. the latter of these, he opened, revealing a diamond ring, despite the damage to the box itself.

the dead had their secrets, and the phantom thieves were helping him to coax them out. this little arrangement was the least he could do.

“i got more stuff, of course.” a hand gestured to the rest of the contents of the bag as he laid them out. “but i figured these would catch your eye. you hear anything new?”

“uh...thanks. didn’t think treasure hoarders were that smart.” go to mondstadt, the goddess had said, it’d be perfectly fine, she said. and yet, he nearly got a new ever-bleeding wound from the first encounter with fucking treasure hoarders of all things.

still, he wasn’t going to discard the opportunity. “you from mondstadt? i, uh, have some business there.” he’d be honest if needed, but frankly, talking about going to find a specific grave and fulfilling some dead guy’s last wishes was still weird.

“look, if i wasn’t completely out of shimmer, i’d offer to split it, but...i’m out. like, OUT out.” and he was going to slip off the deep end if he went too long without it, daedalus knew that much. grasping the flask of shimmer in his hand, he took a step back. “so SCRAM!”

hey there, it’s RI’AH, here with a man on a mission...well, a lot of missions, technically. see, daedalus here is an oracle for a lovecraftian goddess known as haddatha-kathoth, responsible for the dead and undead. in fact, she even selected daedalus after he had died, bringing him back in order to help her fulfill the final wishes of the dying and dead.

i currently have verses for genshin impact, arcane, and p5...but i’m sure to add more with plotting and care.
