Alastor isn't just a memory. He influences Vox's goals, ambitions, and relationships. Alastor was the reason Vox needed Val (and later Velvette) in the first place.

Why? Why do you think that? Cause people claim Alastor is aroace even though he's canonically just ace? Because radioapple is more popular? Because people have whispered it enough in your ear that you now believe the rotten naysayers? Your commitment to the cause is fragile.

And you think Viv, lgbtq rep extrordinare would forfeit making the hottest characters alive a canon couple? Characters who in their human forms have one of the most popular ships in the fandom. Viv, Miss 'I'm making huskerdust, staticmoth, Fizzmodeus, and stolitz canon' would pass up on RADIOSTATIC? You think she's gonna pass up putting Alastor, most beloved character in the fanon who constantly subconsciously searches for connection and found one is Vox not canon?

Who taught you this is how you ship? Here you are making the most beautiful and passionate art yet you can't commit your heart to Alastor finding happiness in someone? Do you love torturing yourself or others? Do you think Alastor's character will be ruined? Do you think if he finds love it will be bad ace rep? Do you truly believe that?

I think people have forgotten that rooting for a ship can be a part of shipping, and also that a ship not "becoming canon" doesn't mean anything when it comes to shipping.

I'll be team Radiostatic unless something happens in the show that makes me not like it anymore. I feel sorry for those holding themselves back because they're afraid to get disappointed. Newsflash - we're ALL going to get disappointed in some way, that's just how watching a show or reading a story goes. That doesn't mean you should stop enjoying the journey.

We also don't KNOW what Viv has planned; that's part of the fun. We have no idea what she's planning to do with Alastor and Vox, although we all have a lot of collective theories. Personally, I'm enjoying the fuck out of all the Post-Season 2 fics right now. Alastor stealing Vox's headless body; Vox deciding to gain power by staying at the hotel; Vox selling his soul to Alastor - it's all so much fun to read!
