Electroma, 2006
Seeing as today is the two year anniversary of my blog Trooper Tracks (named for the bruises you got from wearing Stormtrooper armor) I wanted to post some of my favorite studio photos I’ve taken with Robots over the last 730 days.
Fun fact; it was the first two images that got noticed at 20th Century Fox by a Daft Punk loving Director. Because of the quality he wanted a personal Thomas set for himself to which I obliged. Daft Punk Interview / LOUD Issue 142. October 2006 Photographer: Kamioka Shinsuke (profile / site / image)
(There exists a post of this with more notes, but the photo link is broken and there seems to be no translation of the article, so I fixed both of those things. This is an interview purely about the creation process of Electroma, though quite playful in tone. While translating, I thought that this piece seemed written in an odd manner, stylistically speaking; if you think that the questions sound very formal or stiff compared to the answers, that is not an accident. That’s how it reads - formally-spoken questions contrasted with gentle, informal, almost teacherly answers - and I’ve tried my best to get that across in English. I have no idea if this was a stylistic choice from the writers, or if it accurately represents what the interview was like. It isn’t clear who is answering the questions either, but I believe this to be a Thomas-only discourse, judging by content and the occasional exclamations or laughter, which were lovingly preserved in the text. Short and fun overall.)
