Where do they all come from?

Hello, you can call me DaftyDill, I mainly do fan art (found under #daftydoodles) here though occasionally I just ramble (found under the #🐏bles tag)

My main interests are The Beatles, Tintin, Talking Heads, The Sims, and Nintendo (Constantly subject to change, besides The Beatles)

I get asked this a lot so putting it here, if you're wondering how I translate people's faces into my style or want to try it yourself here's a tutorial: CLICK ME!

Another thing I get asked a lot is “can I make something for Linlin/The Beatlettes/etc?” And yes, yes you can! I don’t own the concept, my only “rule” is if you were inspired by me, tag me in whatever it is you’ve made because I want to see it! (What’s Linlin? That’s my silly little Linda McCartney and Tintin crossover. What’s The Beatlettes? I don't think Yoko would be blamed for breaking up the Beatlettes because the main reason why she's mainly the one getting thrown under the bus for "breaking up" the Beatles is because of how rapidly John changed when Yoko entered his life 😭🖐🏻

With the Beatles it's "John Lennon changed? IT'S BECAUSE OF THAT WOMAN. 🤬"

With the Beatlettes, because Yoko always been Yoko it's probs "Oh, Yoko is here and she brought her husband. How nice."

Click me! Yeah that makes sense but she’s also a woman and Japanese so I definitely could see misogyny and anti-Asian racism making folk still fault her

And because I misread Yoko as John for some reason you get the added bonus of me musing about how folk could view John Lennon:

John, as much as I love him was clingy as Hell towards Yoko (I understand why, with the life he lead) so I think the public could definitely view him him as a clingy, sissy who abandoned his family to drag Yoko away from the Beatlettes because he wasn’t man enough to live his life without being coddled by her, or even a manipulative abuser who convinced Yoko she needed to save him when he just wanted to leech off her fame and forced her to stay (and when I think about it that second interpretation is how folk view Yoko now isn’t it?)

What if Ringo accidentally gives Maureen the sacrificial ring as an engagement gift?

Click me! I like that! But maybe instead of the Ringo Starr, (because we must make sure the public see The Beatlettes as ready and available bachelorettes for marketing purposes) he’s a suspiciously similar, nameless and unseen fiancé that’s never mentioned again in the film or a member of the cult disguised as a mad fan wanting to propose to her?

Do you think radio stations will be more hesitant to play Beatlette songs because 1. they're women mostly singing love songs towards men instead of it being the other way around and 2. Yoko and Linda are not from England (P.S. I think this issue will be more towards Yoko as the band was formed roughly 15 years after WW2)

For the “women singing love songs about men” I don’t see any problem with that at all, The Ronettes sang about loving men, The Supremes too, Dusty Springfield, Janis Joplin sang a good deal of love songs too and they were all popular, and hey if the youth are all telling each other to buy this single because it’s real groovy why not play it and draw more attention and money to your station?

As for racism I think that’d become more a problem with touring and the papers as opposed to getting on the radio, Ringo was attacked during tours due to folk assuming he was Jewish, Linda was attacked in the papers using antisemitic stereotypes against her, Yoko also of course got a lot of racism for being Japanese

How did you come up with the Beatlettes AU?

A few years ago I was asking for requests because I was a bit dry for inspiration, and someone requested girl Beatles, initially I took this to mean they wanted me to draw The Beatles wives as The Beatles, so I chose to do the girls who were with them at the end of The Beatles so that’s Yoko, Maureen, Linda and Pattie and then put them in… Sgt Pepper’s uniforms? (Come on you dafty, you could’ve done an era that actually demonstrated why you chose those girls like the rooftop concert) And then as I went to post I realised “ohhh they meant to draw the Beatles as women not women as the Beatles, ah well too late now”

It’s strange to think, Paul and Linda aren’t together anymore, Linda’s since passed and yet the impact of their love endures so strongly that I can feel emotional after adding little polygons that only vaguely resemble them warming themselves by the fire, after Paul failed to cheer up Linda yet wanted to remain by her side regardless because, he loves her.

Maybe the quarrymen in the Beatlettes AU can include Astrid Kirchherr(Stu's girlfriend) as the bass player and Catherine Johnson(Pete's wife) on drums ? That's the only thing I can come up with :/

Yeah it has proven difficult for me to come up with who the Beatlette Quarrymen could be, because 1. There were so many Quarrymen who are really just guys, (one of whom I’ve met but that’s irrelevant) so information on their wives is scarce, and that includes Pete Best, his wife, I’m sure she’s lovely but I don’t know a single thing about her outside of she married Pete Best because she’s just a normal woman, and also, I can’t think of how we’re going to all centralise the girls in one place (Okay Yoko and Linda went to England when forming their band, they meet Pattie somewhere along the way, maybe London when she was working in Elizabeth Arden’s salon, and meet Maureen in Liverpool) but Astrid’s down in Germany, and I know a lot of Germans did not want to go up to England, so Linda and Yoko would have to go down to Hamburg before they have much of a band or meet her during their Hamburg days but by that point would they really need a bassist 😵‍💫

Oooh yeah, I think The Ronettes are a better match though, just on the basis of that’s also a sisters and cousin(s) band like the Beach Boys were
