summary: your relationship with peter starts as a gradual process, but it’s a relationship that seems to be exactly what you both needed. 

a/n: so i wrote this as an homage to a friend who passed away from cancer a few months ago (she loved marvel) and this is my way to be cathartic and let out all of my emotions. conversations between peter and the reader are very similar to what we had, but dramatized. anyway, thank you for reading this and just know this fic isn’t like the others considering this is me thanking my friend for being the greatest person i knew.

Peter felt like his life was getting back on track after getting used to the fact that Liz had left Queens for Oregon. MJ became one of his closest friends along with Ned and he was getting used to the fact that MJ was no longer a person in the corner of his eye who would silently judge whatever he did. She did it to his face, but he didn’t mind it so much.

After a long time of thinking he was not deserving of the good that came his way with working alongside Tony Stark, forming a tight bond with Ned and MJ, and watching Aunt May support him as Spider-Man, he accepted the good in his life. He did so while struggling to accept the newfound peace he was given and trying to not feel guilty about feeling happy.

So becoming friends with you was a gradual process. It started with Peter noticing the looks you’d emit whenever Flash would make comments about the class or give a smart=ass answer. He’d notice you rolling your eyes and try your best to ignore him attempting to talk to you, and it seemed that you and Peter shared a small laugh whenever he did so. It became an exchange of smiles in the hallway and waving goodbye to one another when you left school founds. You became Peter’s small escape from his normal routine and that’s why he couldn’t wait to see you every morning at eight in Mr. Bellisario’s classroom.

dear Americans very concerned and angry about the concentration camps your government is running:

you should be angry, you should be furious, you should do everything and anything you can to shut them down.

but here in Australia, we've had concentration camps for refugees for nearly 25 years. we've protested and petitioned and yelled, but the government was 'clever' and put them offshore, away from the mainland where we can't reach them, can't storm them. then they banned journalists from going. then they banned doctors.

the only time mainstream news tends to report on the "offshore detention centres" is when yet another group of children try to commit suicide.

yes, the Australian government has concentration camps for people fleeing warzones, and the people in those camps are tortured so bad that the children try to kill themselves.

Americans, I hope you manage to close your governments camps, by law or by force. maybe when you're done, you can turn your attention to us? we could use some loud international outrage from a western ally, the government might care. the public has spent 20 years trying and failing.

non-Australians, please spread this information. I don't think many people know internationally, except the island nations we pay to host our camps and keep quiet.
