"tana!" lyra's tone is chipper as she enters the library – forgetting she's just stepped into a place where she's literally meant to be quiet. realization comes a moment later, and the witch's cheeks flush at the few pairs of judging eyes that fall on her. thank gods the library was mostly empty today.
"sorry, sorry..." she makes sure to whisper now, apologizing to people as she walks past them. only when she's next to tana does lyra allow herself to speak more freely. "good morning! are you free today? i was experimenting with some potions last night." lyra pulls out a small paper bag from her backpack and shakes it lightly. "i brought breakfast!"
tana is a bit startled at the sound of his name. rarely had anyone ever called out to him so loudly, especially within the walls of the library. however, he was quick to realize who's voice it belonged to. approached by lyra who immediately apologized for the outburst, he'd quick to shake his head in reassurance. "it's fine. they'll forget about it once they get back to reading their books." he said with a chuckle.
"good morning to you too, i actually do have some time right now." he'd just finished organizing some stray books and didn't have anything pressing he needed to attend to at the moment. "wait---are you here to have breakfast with me? or are you hoping for a partner in your potions experiments?"

"i didn't need the assist." her tone is more butthurt than anything else, even if jiah refuses to admit it. she was most certainly struggling with the criminal she had taken on, ignorant to their superpowers. if the other hadn't jumped in to help, cloaked spider might've been done for.
"shit. i needed him awake for questioning." she clicks her tongue as she squats next to the unconscious body for a better look. "you have any other brilliant ideas?"
"perhaps you did not need it, but can't you just be thankful for the help anyways?" celestia did her best to not take the others tone to heart. she knew she might be stepping on toes for swooping in to try and help where she might not be needed. however, she finds that she can't help herself sometimes.
"i didn't meant to knock him unconscious. however, it wasn't too hard of a blow, so he shouldn't be down too long and you should be able to get whatever information out of him." she had only meant to momentarily blind him with her light, not for him to stumble and knock himself unconscious. however, that was the tricky think about her abilities.
Playing with Fire | plotted starter
It wasn't often that Tyler heard about someone who could use fire manipulation, sometimes he believed he was the only one. The eldest Atlas always had a love hate relationship with his abilities, given that in his youth he viewed fire as a way to hurt people and cause destruction but now, he viewed it as life itself. Not only could fire hurt, but it provided warmth and it was alive.
After hearing from his niece that she came across someone who was like him, he had no problems trying to find them with the help of Victoria. The perks of having a witch in the family who was powerful, it was like having a personal eye in the sky. Of course, he wanted to play it carefully as he walked into the bar. It was odd being a patron in another establishment but there was always a first time for everything.
Hands in his jacket pockets, he made his way to the bar and sat on the bar stool and thought of ways to approach and ask about the pyro. As he thought of scenarios he finally parted his lips to speak. " Hey, I'm lookin' for a guy. Affinity for burning things, " he pauses before showing his hand, in his palm was a flame that danced on his skin. " Kinda like me? " Tyler stated before closing his fist and smothering it. " Y'know anyone like that? " So much for playing it carefully, as much as he curious about finding and getting to know the person behind fire manipulation, he always leaned towards the direct approach. Even if it meant showing off a bit.
starter for Dominic Greene // @indigodreames
Dominic had rarely met others over the years that had the same abilities to him. Thankfull having P'Naro around, he was introduced to Wild, but other than that, he hadn't come across any others. So when Kalmiya had run into him after an episode and seeing his abilties, he'd found out about her uncle who could manipulate fire. While she'd mentioned it to him, he didn't think he'd ever see the man, let alone that he'd come seek him out at his workplace.
So, he was surprised to say the least when the older man came in and asking about knowing anyone with an affinity for burning things. His eyes darted around to see if anyone else had saw the man's flames dance across his hand. Because if so, he wasn't exactly sure how he'd explain that to them, or if this man would. He certainly didn't put his abilities on display for others to see. It wasn't something he really showcased or told others about. Her certainly didn't want any of the patrons to hear.
He'd used his abilities to make a fire-y cocktail on occasion for a pick-me-up on patrons he thought needed it. Other than that, however, he kept his abilities to himself. "Tyler Atlas, I'm guessing? I heard about you briefly from your niece, Kalmiya. Honestly, I wasn't expecting for you to show up at my workplace." He grabbed a clean glass and placed it down on the bar in front of the man. "I'm sure you're not here just for a drink, did you need something from me?"
@indigodreames liked for a starter.
"I just need some help," she requested, slowly and carefully. It hurt her pride; the back of her neck burning with her admittance. "I don't have a lot of extra cash - I can dry-clean your laundry for free?" Jandi offered, already trying to figure out how she could utilize her mom and dad's shop and materials without them realizing. She could work extra hours and help buy the materials she uses. . . if she had to. Jandi just couldn't keep living like this, getting knocked down and bullied over and over without a soul to help her.
"Sure! What did you need help with?" Perhaps it was premature to agree to help the other when she didn't even know what they needed help with. However, Jessie was never one to turn away someone in need. If there was something she could to do help she would. She's not sure if it's a response from her past trauma, but she simply can't turn a blind eye, even at the simplest request. "I don't think I need anything of mine dry-cleaned. How about coffee? It's not too expensive if you really feel the need to repay me somehow." Jessie offers with a shrug of her shoulders. While she doesn't feel it was necessary, if the other felt obligated to repay her help, she'd do what she could to make sure it was within their means.
While Jiah hadn't been in the industry as long as others, it seemed like a easy fit for her. Once she started landing roles that got her attention, it was like she found where she always belonged. Apart of her always wondered if she was making the right choice going down the path that made her mother choose her career over her family. However, she'd sworn to herself and her father that she would never repeat her mother's mistakes. She'd show her as her fame grew that she could juggle it all.
Jiah and Sohee had just finished their interview about their new show. And while interviews weren't uncommon especially with how well their show was doing. Jiah finds herself lingering on the questions that were thrown towards them. It was common knowledge that the two were close off screen despite their characters being rivals on screen. However, as people started to dig into their relationship more, questions started to rise over just how close the two actresses were offscreen.
Even rumors began floating around that they were closer than best friends, and possibly dating. She couldn't believe that when the interviewer had mentioned it. It was rare for celebrities to date, and with dating rumors speculating, it could easily break someone's career with raging fans against whomever they were dating unless they were just as beloved. Jiah tried to keep her private life as private as she could. Especially when it came to her family. Her dating life? Well, that wasn't very existent for her to worry about it too much.
Still, she finds herself surprised about these rumors about her and Sohee dating. Considering queer relationships aren't very common or at least publicized for fear of scrutiny. She can't help wonder if it's something that could wreck all the work she's been putting into her acting and her rising career. She also can't help but worry how this would affect Sohee as well. Rumors were dangerous and unless proven otherwise, that left the entire internet and tabloids to speculate as much as they wanted and to throw out the most ridiculous things without fact-checking.
It has become their thing, a sort of ritual to go out for coffee and pastries after they'd first met. It started off as something they did after auditions, or after whatever schedules they had. But it'd developed into something they did if they wanted to talk about personal matters or if the other needed a pick-me-up.
It seemed like a good idea to go after the interview since they both had their minds on it and it'd be good to talk things out. After they arrived at their usual café, and getting their orders placed, the pair sat down across each other. "So...what did you think of that interview? Those were some pretty intense questions, huh?"

single moms club | plotted starter
Making friends on the job was something that always happened naturally for Rosalie. Conversating, taking in her surroundings and finding her little land marks was something that she enjoyed doing. Rosalie never wanted to be the IT tech that was introverted and herself, she enjoyed talking with workers and having them know her face.
When it came to this job in particular, she had befriended a model, a model that she had seen from time to time due to advertisements. Advertisements that promoted products that she had own herself. After finally working up the courage, Rosalie had invited the model to afternoon coffee, just so she could get to know the female more and hear her story and of course ask questions about that adorable child she had with her that had very similar features to the model herself.
Sitting at her table, Rosalie crossed her legs underneath it as she idly scrolled through her social media few. The single mother enjoyed staying up to date of current events but always leaned more towards fandoms of different games she liked. This week there was a showing about a game she enjoyed getting an animated adaption that she was looking forward to seeing. Leave it to Twitter to already have game theorist analyzing and breaking down snippets of a trailer to foreshadow what viewers could be expecting.
As she looked on her phone, she heard Gabriel whisper in her mind, Someone is approaching you, this caused her to look up and a warm smile spread her features as she stood up. " Hey you! Vanessa, right? " Rosalie asked just making sure she had the person right, the last thing she wanted was mistake the stranger for someone else.
plotted starter for Vanessa Alvarez // @indigodreames
While Vanessa and initially hesitant about becoming a model, she was glad that she had. It was a steady career and over the years she's grown to love it. It wasn't easy being a model and a single-mother, but it also wasn't as difficult as she had initially thought. It helped having her parents around when she needed someone to look after Macio when she had work, or events that would be late or out of the city, or even out of the country. And while she did hate being apart from her son for those moments, she knew that it would always greatly benefit her growing career as a model and those were opportunities she couldn't pass up. There were few times were she could bring him and her mother as well which she always enjoyed having them with her.
It wasn't that she didn't have friends she'd made through her work, whether it was other models or people she's worked with through whatever jobs she landed. However, there was something different about befriending someone else who was like you. She didn't think she'd make a friend with another single-mother like herself. So she was more than happy to befriend the IT Tech, and was also more than happy to meet her out for coffee so they could get to know each other better. It was rare that she got time to herself like this. While she would have preferred bringing Macio along, she knew that for a first meeting it was probably better to come alone.
Vanessa was running late since Macio was throwing a fit over her leaving him with grandma for the third time this week. She had to promise she'd bring him back something sweet after she'd finished meeting with her friend and after a few cuddles and kisses she was able to make out the door to meet up with Rosalie. "Hi, yeah. Sorry I'm running late, my son didn't want me to leave him with grandma again. I hope you weren't waiting too long?"
Roses among tea leaves | plotted starter
It had been some time since Rosalie herself actually took time to be in the tea shop that Jangmi owned. Her life had been so chaotic with her own business, and on top of that taking care of her daughter she forgot that she had to actually maintain her relationship dynamics that she has acquired over time.
Within hand, she held out a plate of various tea cupped shaped cookies that herself and her brother, Tyler Atlas had made last night. Perfectly wrapped in plastic on top of a porcelain plate she made her way inside of the tea shop.
The smell of her various herbal blends flooded her nose and a small smile crept on her features. Rosalie began to feel a sense of peace and serenity wash over her. Tea had always had that effect on her and it was a reason why she changed from drinking coffee all the time ( regular and decafe ) to tea at the end of a busy day. However, this morning she'd decided to visit Jangmi for not only catching up and offering a plate of baked goods as a way of saying; I'm sorry I faded into the abyss. She wanted to enjoy a cup of tea that wasn't one that came from the Atlas' family.
As she entered the shop, Rosalie had seen the yellow canary and her smile spread even wider. " Good morning, little one. Is your owner around, I come with a peace offering. " Rosalie stated, hopefully loud enough that Jangmi could hear so she knew Rosalie had arrived. Once the door shut behind her, she made her way to counter so she could gently place the plate the counter.
starter for Seo Jangmi // @indigodreames
Jangmi would be the first to admit she wasn't exactly the best and keeping contact with others. Between running two businesses, she found herself too busy most days for her to think about sending out a quick text or call to check in on others. It was definitely something she was trying to work on. So she couldn't fault Rosalie for not reaching out when she hadn't either.
She was doing her usual opening routine before her workers came in to make sure everything was to her own personal standards. When she heard a chirp from Tweetie, she knew that someone had come in. She was usually good about hearing the bell chime when someone entered but she figured she was just too into the zone of cleaning that she'd missed it.
Jangmi made her way to the front of the shop when she saw Rosalie talking to the yellow canary which caused a grin to spread across her lips. Waiting for the other to approach the counter before she made her way over. "Well, aren't you a site for sore eyes." She leans over the counter and grins at the other woman. Dark eyes caught the plate that was placed on the counter and she pointed towards them. "Are those for me? Aw, you brought gifts." A light laugh escaped her lips.
"Perfect timing, the tea I was brewing should be done shortly. We still have about half an our until the shop opens up and anyone comes in. How about we have tea with the snacks you brought and we can sit and chat and catch up, hmm?"
@indigodreames
while bianca had jumped in at the opportunity to investigate a haunting, she wasn't entirely sure how to go about it. she didn't deal in the supernatural. even when she first read detailed retellings from former tennants, she'd been certain there was a perfectly logical explanation behind it – an old house creeking, animal infestations, someone living behind the walls... surely not a ghost.
the detective paces around the living room, eyeing the ouija board she'd gotten from a local occult shop earlier. "do i actually need this thing to communicate with you?" bianca picks it up, wiggling it for emphasis as if the so-called ghost could see. "just seems like a very specific hassle..."
she sets it back down with a low thump and turns around to face the wall. "if anyone – or anything," the detective begrudgingly adds, "is in the room with me, please give me a sign."
before cami had died, she wasn't sure if she could say she believed in ghost or the supernatural. however, in her afterlife, she could no longer maintain any skepticism since this was how she would continue to be. unalive, wandering, alone.
while she eventually figured out she could make herself seen to those who were still living, and some even had a sixth sense and could see her anyways. but still, that nagging loneliness never seemed to disappear. she had stopped counting the number of people that came into her home. most of the ones who came wanted to see the house that was haunted by her. or were curious to see the house where an entire family was murdered.
the last thing she had expected was another paranormal investigator. not that they really meant any harm. most of the time they didn't. but she grew tired of trying to make herself seen to them for what? views on their video and give them the exposure they wanted at her expense?
cami doesn't do anything for a moment when the woman enters and begins pacing around. a bit surprised to see the oujia board. now that was a first. normally others would use devices or other means to try and communicate with her. she's never used one before. and a part of her is curious to try it out, but can't help but wonder if it'd be worth the risk. she'd heard all the stories about them when she was alive, and while she remains skeptical, she can't help but wonder if it'd harm the woman or not if she tried to use it to communicate with her.
she decides against it. however, when the woman waits for a response or some sort of sign of her presence, cami decides to knock over a picture frame off the fireplace mantel instead. waiting to see how she'd react to figure out what to do next.
@indigodreames asked: ❝ dying isn’t so bad…it’s the leaving. going away when you haven’t really even gotten to do anything yet. ❞ ( cami @ rosalie )
" I've never had to deal with death first hand, but I came close to it. " Rosalie admitted softly as she held her coffee mug close to her chest. She was recounting the time of Christopher and how he almost took her breath away; if it wasn't for Gabriel, she wouldn't be here. However, this wasn't about her, but about the fact Cami had died and now she was here as a ghost. " I'm heartbroken that you're here as a spirit and no longer a living person. " Rosalie admitted with sadden eyes looking at the female. At least being apart of Gabriel gave her an ability to see what needed to be seen, she wasn't sure if Cami made herself known but at least the voltaic knight helped in someway.
" Was it painful? "
She wouldn't wish death upon anyone, ever. So hearing that Rosalie came close to death was heartbreaking. She didn't know the details, but perhaps that's something for another conversation between the two for another time. "I dunno, I've grown used to it. It can be lonely, but it's nice when I make nice friends like you. Makes things a little more bearable, you know?" She says with a light chuckle and shrug of her shoulders. It's not so bad anymore, and when she has company it makes things much easier.
Her expression shifts a little when she asks if it was painful. Honestly, she doesn't remember much about the night that she died along with her family. It's a memory she'd rather forget, or perhaps she'd already had. Only having fragments of that night. "I don't remember much about that night. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. Even with the very little I remember, I don't doubt that it was..."

running away was always the easiest part. making sure no one was on her tail when she left to the next town she'd temporarily call home. but then again, could you call it a home when you never stayed long enough to settle down? either way, nova made sure to leave no traces as she left, as she always did. starting over fresh, having a clean slate in a new place where no one knew her face nor her name. it was late, and she wasn't sure if anyone was around, or if there were any places that would take her in. she never quite planned any of this out.
thankfully as she was walking through, she spotted someone and immediately stopped to ask for help. "excuse me," she said as she tapped the other's shoulder. "i'm new here, lookin' for a place to sleep for the night, or some place to eat if you could point a girl in the right direction." she managed a friendly grin. hoping she'd come up upon someone who was friendly enough to offer her some help and not turn her away.
