Ma Maison Restaurant (The Central)
After hibernating for sometime, I finally decide to update my tumblr! Sorry for all my followers who have been waiting for this update.
So, after much recommendation and persuasion from my friend, I finally made some time during lunch time to patron Ma Maison. It is a Japanese Western Restaurant. The restaurant is dimly lit with a hint of classic French colonial decoration, serving a fusion of European and Japanese food.
To my surprise, they offer set lunches ranging from $12.9++ to $16.5++ ( which is considered cheap as their main menu ala cart items ranges from 21+). The set lunches come with a main course, soup, salad, rice/bread and a drink.
They have quite a wide variety and options for the set lunches mainly from Set A to Set J. We are definitely being spoiled for choice here! So, before that day, I did some research and found out that their speciality is their hamburg steak. So, it definitely goes without saying that I have to try their famous hamburg steak (set B).
I like how they serve the bread as the appetizer. It feels very English-y to me and it really compliments the ambiance inside the restaurant with all the vintage decoration and ornaments. There is even butter or jam served alongside with the bread.
The hamburg steak is delicious, with a sunny side-up resting graciously on top of the perfectly well prepared patty. The patty is succulent and juicy on the inside and grilled to perfection on the outside. The brown sauce that comes along compliment the texture of the meat and left us asking for more.
We decided to try their dessert as it was recommended by the restaurant. We had a chocolate tart. The simple name had our feeling cheated. The texture was smooth and light, unlike some other tarts. It was simply tasty, but it can be quite pricey at $8.90 per tart (if not for the price, I would have ordered another one). the set meals come with a choice of coffee or tea and it can be served during the course or after meal.
A set of tag and key is given to each table denoting their table number
The perfect restaurant for you and you date to enjoy some peaceful and romantic moments overlooking the Singapore River!
