The portrait of Rochester is drawn in the dark. We feel the influence of fear in it; just as we constantly feel an acidity which is the result of oppression, a buried suffering smouldering beneath her passion, a rancour which contracts those books, splendid as they are, with a spasm of pain.
Virginia Woolf on Charlotte Brontë, A Room of One’s Own
I think one of the worst things about being a girl who likes girls is that men always assume you share their male gaze. When I see a pretty girl I’m imagining what it’d be like to hold her hand and kiss her, not hoping a gust of wind blows her skirt up. I don’t plan my outings based on which place has the hottest girls. I don’t find it appropriate to make lewd comments about women. Just because I like girls doesn’t mean I like to disrespect them or prey on them the way you do.

Who needs Halloween makeup when you already have the dark eye circles and the half dead look
living with your significant other is sitting crossed legged in your underwear and big tshirt, sharing your hoodies, arguying about who’s turning the light off, taking showers together, giggling during sexy time, laughing with your best friend, consoling the love of your life, hearing about their day, finding annoying habits that you didn’t know about and loving them even more, planning great things together, being comfortable, building a home, collecting cats.

The Great Gatsby (2013) production design Designed by Catherine Martin
“One of Baz’s main design directives for the look and feel of this particular movie was that he didn’t want a nostalgic, sepia-toned New York City of the 1920s. He wanted the New York we created to feel as vibrant, modern, and cutting-edge as it would have felt to Fitzgerald in 1922.”
