Fili and his One @legolaslovely
“What's meant to be will always find a way.” -Trisha Yearwood
Your body was buzzing with a serene and peaceful mood, the warm air feeling fresh against your skin. The sun was just beginning to set, the vibrant hues of purple, red, and orange mingling in with the few clouds left in the sky to creature a beautiful painting across the horizon. Your legs were crossed together in front of you as you sat quietly in between Fili’s legs, your back pressed ever-so-lightly against his chest while his fingers gently combed through your dark hair. The feeling of his thick fingers massaging your sore scalp brought a hum past your lips. Your hair had been tightly and intricately braided to hold your crown in place, but as the day grew long your head began to ache at the taut hair pulling at your scalp. As soon as you were relieved to go back to your chambers you tugged thee crown off of your head and tossed it on to your bed. Fili’s crown too had long since been placed upon his vanity, his golden-hair left flowing free and around his shoulders. Usually it was you who would comb through his mane after a long day, but when he had offered to brush your hair for you, you jumped at the chance.
“Come now,” You felt Fili’s chest suddenly vibrate as he let out a soft laugh before he finally pulled the last strand of your hair free. As his fingers continued to comb through your hair you opened your eyes while one of your hand came to rest against his lower thigh, however the last rays of the sun shone bright in your eyes, causing you to quickly squeeze them shut again. “You can’t be falling asleep already.” He worked expertly to rid your hair of any knots or tangles, his eyes dancing down to where his fingers were grasping on to his thigh tightly.
“I do as I please.” Came your quiet reply, another laugh sounding from your prince at your words. Fili carded his fingers through your hair one last time before he grabbed two separate strands, this time instead of weaving a single tight braid again your head, he took to twisting your dark locks together. You felt yourself relax against his body, another sigh falling past your lips. Fili worked on your hair gently, his fingers pushing aside your courting braid so that it was in clear view before twisting another lock of hair in with the other twisted strands. Your arm soon grew slack against your knee as sleep clouded your mind, your other hand colliding with his other leg as you leaned further into his chest.
Fili remained silent as he tied off your twist with a red strip of silk, his arms scooping you up and pulling you on to his lap as he stretched his legs out in front of him. Your body immediately reacted to his touch, your fingers grabbing a hold of the front of his dark red tunic as he pressed his palm against your cheek, guiding your head to rest against his chest. As Fili leaned back against the cool stone his fingers smoothed patterns into your skin. Your lips parted slowly as you mumbled something incoherent in your sleep, whatever it was sounding like something between a small whine and a laugh. He wasn’t quite sure what to make of that, so he only tightened his grip around your waist before pressing his lips to your hairline.
One half of the sky was colored with shades of red and blue, the other half now dark and mysterious as the moon peeked out over the hills. A chill suddenly rose in the air, the night slowly taking over the blistering air and cooling the wind that blew through the trees and around the mountain of Erebor. Fili sat silently as he watched the night grow, his mind free of any duties that he had as prince while you lay peacefully in his arms. As his eyes fluttered down to your matching dark red attire and the bead that he had fashioned for you that held your courting braid together. His heart pounded at the sight, the love he felt when he first realized you were his One washing over him all over again as his body tingled. Fili remembered the first time he had met you and how he felt as if the whole world had literally stopped as his eyes took you in.
Your doe-like eyes still glittered as bright as they did back then, your ever smiling lips looking as pink and as kissable as he remembered. Fili’s chin soon rested upon your hair while he reminisced, his eyes crinkling in the corners even when they closed as the grin on his lips grew wider. “Amrâlimê, my princess.” Tears threaten to form in his blue eyes, just the thought of being able to court you and one day marry you being enough to make him want to cry out in happiness. Never did he think he would find his One. Even before the quest to reclaim Erebor started he had worried about finding someone to settle down with, especially since he was heir to the throne. Sure, he had a couple flings here and there, but never once did he feel like one of those dwarrowdams were the one he was supposed to be with.
But the world works in mysterious ways, and it was but a chance of fate that Gandalf had asked you to join them on the quest. Fili was sure he had thanked the wizard over a hundred times for that. Just sitting there now, holding you flush again his chest with your hands holding on to his body felt surreal, yet it was. You were there. You were real and you were his One. It was as if the universe pulled you two together, and in a way it did, pulling the strings of your heart together and knitting them tight. If anyone were to ask with whom his heart lay he would point to you, for you held his heart in your hands softly. And if anyone would ask you the same your reply would be identical. You loved each other deeply and with all your hearts, and some would even say that you had become his heart, his life.
Fili’s arms held you close when you suddenly stirred, your fingers dropping the fabric of his tunic to rub at your tired eyes. A small cry of distress fell past your lips, and what appeared to be tears glistened down your cheeks from what seemed to be a slight nightmare. “I’m here, thatrulkhud.” Fili’s lips brushed against the skin of your cheek as he tucked you under his chin, trying to make sure you were as comfortable as possible with his arms around you as he worked to ease your woes. “Sleep, my darling, for I’ll keep your nightmares away.” His words were soft and melodic to your ears, easing away the fright that your nightmare had caused. It didn’t take long for you to relax in his warming hold, and his eyes gleamed with delight when you responded with a small groan, your eyes drooping once again before your head fell this time against his shoulder.
With his arms around your waist and your head against his shoulder Fili relaxed again, your soft, shallow breath telling him you had drifted off again. Stars were now hanging high in the sky, casting an ethereal glow over the two of you. He knew he that he should move. He should pick you up in his arms and move the both of you to his soft mattress and fluffy pillows so you could both get a good night's rest. But the cool air kept him outside longer. The night was serene and calm, his eyes closing shut as he relied on his sense of touch to know you were still in his arms.
His throat rumbled with a soft lullaby as he rocked your body gently back and forth, his eyes closing as he tried to block out the world. Fili knew he would have to get up sooner or later, but the weight of his One asleep in his lap was reason enough to keep him put, his arms protectively around your frame until someone called him away. For now though, he reasoned with himself as a smile ghosted his lips, for now he would stay with you, his princess, his love, his One.
