I think this is funny.
Saying it's a new beginning for you and you are ready to explore a new sound and a new vibe. But is it really new if we have seen it before? I get one can take inspiration and reference things but people make their own twists to make it their own.
Verlo, formerly known as Louise Verneuil, released a new EP named Générique, with "new" visuals compared to her last work.
Personally, I only liked one song from her EP, "Bella Donna", still it isn't a song I would play, I'd probably skip it. But listening to her EP made me think of another artist...
When I saw the visuals for "Bleu Mirage", a scene looked vaguely familiar... It even made me question if I was looking at one of my favorite artists, Charlotte Gainsburg.
Personally if I were be trying to rebrand myself and take out new music I'd avoid presenting something that is already out there, your goal is to make people be like "this is new, I haven't seen or heard anything like that before". But can you really do that when you sound and look too like another artist?
Like I said one thing is being inspired, but straight up copying?
No.
Where is the originality? Where is the grab? What makes me want to listen to this again if I can get it from the original, Charlotte Gainsburg, and even better?
This is a joke, hype an album that is a cheap copy of another artist. Don't you know what you want to do for your career?
