View from my balcony in Rio
Ipanema Favela -- you can see in the last photo how all the fancy hotels at down on the beach to the right. Just four or five blocks behind those hotels starts a sprawl of favelas -- slums that creep up the hills. Packed with people. I believe 60,000 people live in the favela pictured here. There are not really any streets, just an intricate system of alleyways and walkways.
Today we got caught in this parade along the beach in Ipanema

Rio.
I travel light these days.
Conventional tea cups are far too small for this British woman. She likes a solid bowl of tea.
Bogota, Columbia
Today at lunch the waitress gave me a bracelet with the Colombian colors, so that I could take a piece of Columbia with me. It's the seemingly insignificant moments in life that I am beginning to find so sacred.
Cali, Columbia. Some serious high diving went down.
Leticia. Everyone here rides motorbikes. You can see entire families of four stacked up on a little honda dirt bike. There are no roads in or out of Leticia, a town that boarders Peru, Brazil, and Columbia. A true river town that serves as a main hub for all the outlying tribal regions.
Too many days I forget to look up and remember where I am.
Jessica decided to order piranha tonight. Teeth and all. Tasty, but would not want to meet a live one.
