âHow did that even happen?â Holden asked. âWas she adopted or something? So she was raised as a hero while you werenât? Or were you adopted instead? I donât think I understand correctly.â He shrugged his shoulders. âYeah but youâre two more years wiser than I am,â he said to Dalia. âI really donât know much for an eighteen year old. I mean, I havenât even gotten laid yet and everyone else out here is fucking each othersâ brains out!â Holden looked Dalia up and down, as she was looking away, when she said she was going to look fantastic forever but he didnât comment on it. âI mean⊠I am a villain,â he corrected her. âBut a bad one at that, I guess. I donât have all that energy and anger in me.â Holden noticed that he was clearly annoying this girl in front of him. It was the wrong person to ramble to, but he couldnât help it lately. He was ranting to more and more strangers he met each day. âGee thanks,â he said sarcastically. âI think it was more jealousy than love⊠or both⊠maybe. I want her, but she wants someone else that I couldnât compete with.â Holden realized he was doing the zero confidence thing again. âGoddammit I did it again,â he said out loud. âSorry.â
Holden looked down at his hand when he realized it was all patched up then he looked up at Dalia. He got up from his seat on the toilet and followed her to the kitchen. Holden noticed Dalia pouring them some drinks. âUh, what is that?â Holden questioned, innocently not knowing for the naive eighteen year old that he was. âAnd sorry⊠for complaining so much. I know itâs annoying, I canât help it.â He crossed his arms, feeling insecure. âEither way Iâll get hurt in the end,â Holden replied. âI continue to never talk to her, I spend the rest of my life wondering if it would be better if I talked to her the first time I saw her. I somehow manage to actually talk to her, I can put her danger or she could reject me. I know I canât win but itâs so hard to move on too.â He looked down at the drink, feeling a bit nervous to actually drink it. Holden looked up at Dalia then down at the glass again. âUh okay,â he agreed. Holden lifted the drink to his lips and took a small sip.
âWeâre twins, how would she have been adopted?â Dalia raised a brow, not understanding what he meant. âMy parents got rid of me when I was little. I wasnât the favorite one,â she shrugged her shoulders, pretending as if it really didnât bother her. It didnât anymore, truthfully. âIâm like 10 years wiser than you, but weâll let that slide. Who the hell is fucking someoneâs brain? That sounds-- wait, how do you know everyone is having sex? Iâm not having sex, and Iâm the hottest person here,â she grumbled. She hadnât hooked up with anyone since Cal left, and she was almost mad at herself that she had let herself fall for him at all. âThatâs why you seem so young. Youâre a virgin. Donât tell me you were saving yourself for that girl. So youâre just from an evil little family, but youâve never done anything bad. And why arenât you mad at whoever it is your family is mad at?â Not that Dalia was mad at anyone in particular at first, other than her parents and sister. But that rage had grown into a hatred for the world and how cruel it had been to her. Holden was lucky and he didnât even realize it.
Sighing, she attempted not to roll her eyes for once. Holden wasnât a child, despite him acting like one. Maybe that was how he had been treated all his life, but it wouldnât happen here, and it did him no good. âItâs whiskey. It doesnât taste good at first, but the ice mostly fixes that. Youâll be fine, donât complain,â she waved her hand dismissively, taking a sip of her own drink. It would make him feel better soon. âI donât care if you complain, but donât apologize to anyone for anything. Youâve done nothing wrong, start seeing yourself that way. This girl, whoever she is, is taken? So you have to move on. Youâre already hurt. You didnât talk to her back then and even if you talked to her now, who says it would end well? Besides, how can you really love someone without ever having spoken to them? Thatâs infatuation, Holden,â she shook her head. He wouldnât like hearing it, but she was never one to lie. âDo yourself, and me, a favor and focus on something else. Like getting laid, dear gods, how are you eighteen and this innocent?â

âAh okay, Greece. To be honest, I havenât traveled much⊠and I donât know much as well. All I know is: forest, outside the forest with the markets, the palace, and the tower across from the palace,â Holden said. âWhy canât you stay in the palace but your sister can? Whatâs the difference?â He smiled softly at Dalia. âYeah, I know! I look like a child,â he agreed. âI definitely look young for my age but positive thing to that is I wonât look all wrinkly before Iâm even fifty years old like some people.â Holden snickered at his own joke. He nodded his head when Dalia mentioned the villains in the area. âIâm aware they do,â Holden said to her. âIâm used to it. I grew up with it.â He looked around a bit until he spotted the toilet and sat on top of the closed cover.
Holden could feel his face burn red as Dalia started to question him about his breakdown. This was so embarrassing. âUh yeah, thatâs exactly what I didâŠâ he mumbled. âI mean⊠it could have been worse. I could have punched a person instead. I donât know how to control my anger or sadness⊠or, for a matter of fact, I donât know how to control any of my emotions. I guessâŠâ Holden trailed off, pausing to think how he was going to word what he was thinking. âI guess I just hold them in too long,â he continued. âI donât know how to express it and all I do is mess up. Sorry, Iâm probably repeating myself with all this rambling.â His eyes widened when Dalia mentioned a she. âWha-what?â Holden choked out. âIs it really that obvious?!â He coughed, feeling awkward. âAnyways⊠it doesnât even matter,â Holden told the girl sitting in front of him. âShe doesnât even know who I am and even if she did, there is no way she would ever want me. Iâm not worthy of her.â
âRight, so youâre new.â Dalia had sort of figured that. â...my sister is nice and Iâm evil, or something.â Really, she was just cold and calculating, but her parents had made her that way. It wasnât as if she chose to be terrible. âWhatever, Iâm only two years older than you. Hey, Iâm going to look this fantastic forever,â she smirked, looking down at herself. Sheâd never had any trouble getting the attention of any male, especially when she actually put in a little effort, which was rare. âSo you grew up with villains, but youâre not one.â Of course he wasnât, he didnât look like one- and he was way too emotional. He cared way too much about something, and it didnât even matter what it was. That would need to be fixed.Â
She listened to how he felt, wanting him to get the rambling out of his system, and it gave her a change to focus more on his hand than anything. When she finished wrapping it, he had finally finished speaking. âYou have literally zero confidence. Itâs not that itâs obvious, but only something as stupid as love makes someone do something like punch a tree,â she rolled her eyes. âNow youâre not worthy of her? Jesus. Come on.â She took his hand and lead him back to the kitchen, motioning for him to sit at the counter and getting them both a drink. âWe need to have a little talk. And Iâm doing this for my benefit as much as yours, because hearing you whine is literally like a mixture of nails on a chalkboard and a crying baby- you are worthy of whatever this girl is,âshe waved her hand dismissively as she filled up the glasses. âAnd who cares, anyway? Love is overrated. It just gets you hurt in the end. Drink.â She pushed the glass toward him. âYou need to toughen up.â
holden-gothelâ:
âNice to meet you Dalia,â Holden said. âI have never seen you before the last time we met, which you did say was you, but anyways, Iâm sure I have never seen your twin sister around. Is she from the forest like you?â Holden tilted his head, confused that it sounded like Dalia was threatening him. âI meanâŠâ he trailed off. âItâs not big deal really. And no, Iâm not from the palace. I live in the woods as well.â Holden raised his eyebrows as Dalia referred to him as a kid. âDo I really look young and innocent enough to be mistaken for one of the palace kids?â he asked her. âThat is the second time I was asked if I was from there. Anyways, Iâm actually 18 years old.â Holden followed Dalia to a room, which turned out to be a bathroom. He awkwardly stood there, not knowing where he should sit. âI donât know,â Holden replied, shrugging his shoulders. âI got upset. I feel just feel alone with everything. Nothing works in my favor and I canât do anything about it. I was stupid and I took out my anger on that poor tree. Now my hand is all fucked up.â
âGod, youâre adorable. We arenât the forest, weâre from Greece. I stay here because I canât stay in the palace, unlike Daphne,â Dalia rolled her eyes. He seemed so flustered when she threatened him- and it was definitely a threat, but he wouldnât know that she really wasnât worried about anyone finding her. She could take care of herself. She was surprised, however, to find out that he didnât live in the palace. âInnocent enough. You do have a baby face, but thatâs not the problem. Villains live out here,â she waived her hand dismissively, running a hand through her curls. âSit on the toilet.â The seat was down, itâs not like he would fall in or anything. She grabbed some gauze and then some ointment, inspecting his knuckles. âYou punched a tree and screamed because you feel alone? Donât pity the tree, first of all,â she smirked. The tree barely had a dent, unlike Holden. âSecond of all, everyone feels alone at one point. Iâm not diminishing how you feel, but let me guess- itâs all over a girl?â She raised a brow at him, using the pause of silence to clean his scrapes and cuts. âOf course it is. It always is. Who is she?â
holden-gothelâ:
Holden paused for a second. Should he really be telling this stranger his name? âUh, Iâm Holden,â he replied. Looks like Iâm telling her my name anyways, he thought. It was impossible to think straight right now. Holden looked at his hand again, realizing the cuts were beginning to sting and hurt more. âYeah youâre definitely right about that,â he agreed. âThis is bad, this is really bad.â Holden looked up in shock as the girl told him she would pretend that she didnât see anything. Of course it still happened, but pretending was better than everyone knowing. That is, assuming she wouldnât tell everyone in the forest. âThank you,â Holden thanked the girl. âIt means a lot.â She started to walk away and Holden tilted his head, confused. When she turned around and called him over, he realized she wanted him to follow her. âOh!â he exclaimed. âYeah okay, Iâm following.â Holden sprinted after her, noticing there was a house over in the distance. âAlso I forgot to askâŠâ Holden began to say. âI already told you my name but who are you?â
âOf course Iâm right,â Dalia smirked softly. Obviously this guy hadnât heard of her, though maybe that was a good thing. She could be whomever she wanted now, especially now that she was on her own. âNo big deal,â she shrugged, not used to anyone thanking her in general. Normally, she wasnât the nicest person, but he seemed so upset. She wasnât the type to kick a person when he was down. âIâm Dalia. Not to be confused with my twin sister, Daphne, though honestly I doubt youâd ever confuse us,â she waved her hand dismissively. Daphne was soft. Sure, sheâd been hurt, but her life had been nothing like Daliaâs. âIf you tell anyone where I live...â she didnât finish the sentence, unlocking the door to the ornate home still filled with Calâs things. âAre you one of those kids from the palace? Sorry, not a kid. You just look innocent.â She closed the door behind them, leading him to the bathroom where her first aid items were. âWhat were you doing out in the woods?â
holden-gothelâ:
âShit, youâre right,â he said, realizing who the girl standing before him was. âWe have met before.â This was more of a worse situation that it was someone who recognized him. Holden looked at her shocked that she was offering her hand. First he reached out his bloody hand, then looked at it, realized what he was doing and quickly pulled away. âI got it,â Holden said to her. He stood up and got near the dark haired girl. âThank you anyways though.â Holden sighed heavily, realized how much of a fool he must look right now. âSorry you had to witness that,â he told her. âIâm just a mess right now and honestly I donât think I know how to control it.â
âRight, but I never got your name.â At the time, Dalia really hadnât cared enough to stick around. She had been bored, itching to get out and do something fun. But that was then. Reality had set in and she wasnât really looking to do much of anything, for once. She saw that his hand had blood on it, and she assumed it was his, given his current state. âYouâll need that wrapped if you donât want it to get infected. I donât know what youâre talking about, I didnât witness anything,â she shook her head, giving him a way out. âWell, thatâs a problem. You need to get that in check.â She started walking toward her house, assuming he was following her. âCome on,â she called over her shoulder. âDonât dilly dally, we have things to do, including fixing you.â
holden-gothelâ:
It was all his familyâs fault. Holden couldnât take the manipulation and the pressure to hate on the people he did not want to hate. By this time in his life without his family he couldâve had the girl to himself. He could have been happy. Holden had to get out. His breathing picked up, it felt like he was going to die. Holden stood up fast. His heartbeat was pumping throughout his whole body, his head felt dizzy, and he felt like he was going to cry. All he could do was run. Holden ran out of the tower, sprinting down the spiral stairs as fast as could. He ran towards the woods and stopped in front of a big tree, breathing heavily. Holden began to cry, so hard it hurt that he was getting choked up. âWhy, why does it have to be like this,â he coughed out. Tears were streaming down his face, clouding his vision.
âIt shouldâve been me!â Holden screamed as he punched as hard as he can, hitting the tree in front of him. It hurt, but the anxiety and sadness he was feeling now hurt way more. He wiped away his tears with his other hand and looked down. The hand Holden punched the tree with was scratched up and cut, covered in blood. He felt numb. Suddenly he heard the sound of footsteps on dried up leaves coming in his direction. âShit,â he swore, not wanting to get caught as being a complete mess. Holden looked up at the person then quickly looked away, not wanting them to see him like this. âJust leave me alone,â he mumbled.
Dalia strolled through the forest, using the quietest way to get to her place. It was better to attract less attention to herself, and she hadnât really been feeling normal since Cal left so abruptly. She cursed herself for even letting herself feel something for someone when she had been adamant for so long about not breaking her own rules. Her gaze came up as she heard a yell, practically a scream, and she furrowed her brow. Who the hell else is out here? She couldnât help but worry for a second that someone was at her door, someone she hadnât wanted to run into- or maybe it was Cal. Her pace picked up, following the sound until she found the source of the yelling, her eyes narrowing at the sight of the boy. âYou. Weâve met before.â She raised a brow at his reaction, pursing her lips. âThatâs a little rude. Come on, get up,â she offered him her hand.Â
holden-gothelâ:
âYou just need to get a little creative, make a hobby out of something to pass the time.â
âWow, I fell asleep just listening to that. Who are you, anyway?â
âThis place couldnât possibly be any more boring. Gods, it almost makes me consider begging my uncle for a permanent hotel room in his little hell hole.â

âWhy donât we? We should show people who are in control. Make them scared to cross us.â Victor had always liked the idea of power. More than a healthy amount. He liked being able to command people, have people fear him. No one was ever scared of him anymore. It was a feeling he missed dearly. âWhy donât we kidnap then? Itâs not. What? Should I start just harming random people? It seems foolish to make unneeded enemies or hurt someone who could turn out later to be useful.â Â
âWe should. That was my plan with Callahan, but he seemed to have other pressing matters to attend to,â Dalia pursed her lips. She should have been the most important thing, but whatever the case, that was why she didnât get attached to anyone. âKidnapping...I like that. She has an annoying husband, we will have to make sure he isnât around. Do we have a place to put her?â That was the only thing Dalia hadnât secured yet. âAre you truly afraid of making enemies?â Dalia gave him a mischievous smile. âThatâs not how this will work. Everyone will be afraid of even speaking your name, including your enemies. I will be the queen of this place, and more. And you could do even better than that. Come on, what do you do for fun?â
victoroogie:
âI guess that makes me worth six of him?â Victor chuckled before raising his hand in defence. âKidding, kidding. I know the two of us could pull off just about anything we want together. No cold feet here. They just gave me a child to look after. Now, come on. Iâm craving trouble. Anyone on your hit list? I need some blood.â
âYou wish. Luckily for you, Iâm on your team and not against you. We could own this place.â Dalia smirked and nodded; there was plenty on her hit list and she wanted Victor to come along. âMy sister. So youâve got a thirst for this sort of thing, what have you been doing all this time? This place isnât in shambles, clearly it should be.â
kitmutton:
âI could have been, trust me. Caffeine? Never had that beforeâŠGot soft? Fine. Maybe that is true. But I havenât drank or smoked in months, I donât even know how my body would react if I started that all again. What did you normally do?â
âYouâve never had caffeine? What kind of idiot are you? Oh, you stopped smoking and drinking, that explains a lot. Your body would be fine, itâd be like starting over probably. For adrenaline? Hurt people, slay my enemies, set things on fire, sleep with inappropriate men. Donât even start to lecture me.â
kitmutton:
âBoring? Thatâs new. People used to think I was too much for them, but I guess a lot has happened. What would you suggest I do then? I am not dead, just deprived of sleep. My daughter still wakes up in the middle of the night. We were so close to, I donât know what has gotten into her.â
âI donât think anybodyâs too much for me. I suggest you drink some caffeine and man up. Oh, thatâs what happened. You had a kid and got all soft. Gross. Well, youâre no fun. What usually gets your adrenaline going?â
kitmutton:
âFor someone who hardly gets any sleep, it is loud. I want to take a nap, not listen to whatever the hell this is.â
âGods, youâre boring. Itâs not time to sleep, sleep when youâre dead. Speaking of which, you look like death. Whatâs wrong with you?â
