* it’s delightfully warm ( by late november standards , at least ) , and the sun is filtering gently through the last leaves of the season . bustling campus is perfect serenity for a simple moment in time ... that is , until his voice is ringing out rather loudly , completely distrupting what is otherwise a peaceful afternoon . “ heads up !! ” dallas comes bounding towards them ; seems like he’s going to crash directly into them , in fact , but soon enough , he’s coming to a screeching halt and leaping to catch a rogue frisbee before it can nail them in the face . “ --- whew . that’d would’ve been pretty bad , huh ? ” dallas is breathless , lips cracked into a boyish ( apologetic ) grin . he turns to fling the disc back in the direction of the group , watching it cut through the air effortlessly . “ huh ... i’m not usually that good at throwing . maybe you’re my good luck charm . ”

‘ trust me on this ! ’ she starts , wrapping a blanket around her head and handing the other a mint green one . ‘ i got these online , they were like 70 bucks each , but aren’t they so fluffy !? ’ hwa snuggles in her blanket , gives her shoulders a cute ‘lil shake . ‘ if you join me , you can keep it . ’ and yeah , she’s the type to buy friends - because god forbid anyone truly like her anyways .

* “ is this you trying to bribe me ? ” dallas can’t help but laugh at the sight of her all cozied up in the blanket . still , he’s gingerly taking the blanket from her grasp to wrap himself up in the fabric ---- she’s right , they’re insanely fluffy . “ would it be overstepping to complain about the color ? i don’t think i’m a mint green kind of guy . ” he’s half - joking ; truthfully , he’d prefer it in black , but he’s not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth . “ these are great , but i don’t think anything’s ever gonna top my costco blanket . that shit’s got me out like a light as soon as it’s on top of me . ”

Judging by the dark circles under Spencer’s eyes appearing to be even more noticeable than usual, it wouldn’t have been a far leap to assume that he was in need for far more caffeine than what was provided in the single cup of coffee in front of him. He just hoped it would at least give him enough of a boost to prevent his head from collapsing and falling on the table at Planet Bean. “Before you tell me I look like shit, or ask if I got any sleep, no. I didn’t.” Spencer explained through a deep sigh as he saw a someone approaching. Maybe they weren’t even going to say anything, but his entire morning consisted of other people giving their unsolicited opinions or faux concern. “The entire night, some idiot in my hall was screaming on the top of their lungs at someone. If you’re able to sleep through that, congratulations.”

* dallas does his best to mask the amused expression that threatens to quirk the corners of his lips upwards at spencer’s vibrant reaction to his approach . “ down , boy . ” tone laced with warm laughter , he nods in the other’s direction . “ i was just going to ask if you’ve eaten anything yet ---- food’s gonna give you more energy than a cup of coffee , and you won’t have to face the dreaded caffeine crash either . ” the tail end of his sentence is emphasized by jazz hands , moving to plop down in the seat across from spencer . he slaps a bag down on the table and pushes it towards him ---- a chocolate croissant , courtesy of planet bean . being friends with the barista really has its perks . “ you ever consider noise - cancelling headphones ? sounds like you need to invest in some if you want to enjoy your beauty sleep . ”
