harleen, popping her head into the hospital's break room between rounds. thank god for friendly nurses who check in on him && give him apple juice. " hi. wanna have lunch? "

        Jason was very into his coloring book right now. Mom's coworkers kept giving him things to color with highlighters, pens, markers. It was great. Plenty of snacks and juice, and compliments. Jason was having a great day. Separation anxiety at a minimum with how much he had to do.

         It wasn't too long ago he was all alone. His first mom went to sleep and didn't wake up. Which is how he ended up outside looking for food and how to get dry and warm. And that's when he met Harleen. New mom was a lot nicer. A lot kinder in ways that Jason never knew of. With soft hands and warm words, Jason could just take all of that and live better in these last few months than he ever had in his short years. Now add to that an actual stable home and food and Jason didn't know what he did to deserve it all. No one yelled at him. No one hit him. And his socks all didn't have holes.

         Jason looked up from his art and beamed at her. Just happy to see her. He nodded quickly and moved all his things out of the way.  ❝ Sandwiches? ❞

        with a frown on his face, dick looks up from the case files he’s been reading as he feels weight on his arm. he puts the files away to pay full attention to jason.   “ you should go to bed instead of sleeping here, ”   he says as he notices that his younger brother is slowly falling asleep on his arm.   “ your neck will hurt in the morning otherwise. ”

        BROTHERS; Jason frowns softly and didn’t move, only sinking deeper struggling to keep himself from completely slumping over. The files were so boring he thinks he might be dying of brain rot. Heavy lashes closed for a just a second, just to rest for a moment.    ❝ ‘M not tired yet. ❞    He grumbles. He didn’t get to spend a lot of time with his brother and he didn’t want to sleep it all away. They were just starting to be brothers. He had never had that before.

        STOLEN FOR A PRICE; Jason had been hiding out in the pantry for a while. A walk-in closet lined with more food than he's ever seen before, all without lock and key. Jason didn't want to take more than he was allowed, not wanting to steal from his new family. But it just started as a little bite, no one would miss one box of cheese squares. A little snack he didn't want anyone to know he was sneaking. But then he didn't stop. And he ate as much as he could get his hands on. Salty, sweet, savory.

        So long worrying about when his next meal would be. Focused only on survival and not thinking about anything else. And here he was, presented with more food than he could even eat. That is till his belly started hurting with the seer volume he ate. Which led to Bruce finding him vomiting violently into a trashcan.

        ❝ yeah ❞  His voice was a waver and he didn’t lift his head up. He’s not sure when Bruce would find out how much he stole but maybe he could play it off long enough to get away with it all.
