Sometimes it was harder remembering all the good times over the bad ones but with Hallie, it was inevitable. With the flood of good memories always came the bad ones too. And yet, he could never see himself letting her go, not for a period longer than a month. While they fought and reunited in an endless cycle, he was glad that she at least continued to come back to him. He knew he didn’t deserve her but he refused to let anyone else have her. When he had found out that she was engaged, he was sent into a fury like never before, she had brought out the beast in him. He should have just let her be happy but that wasn’t going to happen, not when he remained so attached to her like this. Here they were again and while maybe this wasn’t going to last long, Dallas knew he wasn’t going to regret the time they spent together tonight. It wasn’t about their feelings – it was about them sharing yet another night that neither of them would forget.

As he brought her body closer, he couldn’t keep his eyes away from her figure. As much as he could feel the tension between them, he simply had to know if she was truly happy to see him. It might have been the wrong question to ask right then and there but when she admitted that she was, his smile returned brighter than it had been all day. Hearing her say that would buy her a few more hours of Dallas’ nice time and when she questioned him, he didn’t answer her directly. Instead, his lips captured hers, letting his kiss answer her question for her because he didn’t want to ruin the moment with his words. He knew how much he fucked things up and said the wrong things at the wrong time so he let the gesture show his answer, fingers dancing delicately along the small of her back. He was overwhelmed by how good she tasted, never failing to make him want to kiss her even more, and his hunger spreading like a wildfire from the pit of his stomach.

Well I’ve grown up since then. Trust me, if they don’t have an ounce of respect for the work I do, I’ll quit, then knock some sense into them. And I know I have you to back me up.

It just comes natural to me, I can’t help but be this way. Do you see why I make so much money now, and why they wont let me take too much time off? From the moment the two of them first met, it had been a recipe for both ecstasy and disaster. While they had times together where they were amazing, like a couple was meant to be, there were other times that were downright terrible. A lot of times it was his fault; he was a screw-up who didn’t know how to handle his feelings and slept around, but it wasn’t completely his fault. There were times where she was to blame too but once again, it was usually because it was his fault in the first place. They were like fire and ice and yet, they were inseparable. They found themselves falling right back for each other in the end, no matter how hard they tried to push each other away. It was nice to know that Hallie never gave up on him and sometimes he wanted nothing more than to give her what she wanted the most, but he found it harder to settle down and behave than to keep living his life the only way he knew how. On this particular evening, though, he didn’t want anything else but to see her happy, to see that smile on her face because for once, he was doing things the way he should.

When she turned to face him and started talking about her store, he listened attentively. He had always known she was going to be immensely successful so he wasn’t surprised that her store had become quite popular. As she teased about needing her stress reliever, he was already getting images about what he wanted to do to her to help ease her tension. “Well, it’s a good thing you ran into me,” he teased right back at her, perking a brow when she asked what he was doing in the Hamptons. “I got a job at a car garage so I’ve been doing some mechanic work there. Plus I’m a stagehand now too and I like working at the venue here. I get to hang out with a lot of bands,” he admitted; it was always a routine – when she asked him about himself, he never failed to tell her what had been going on since they last talked, leaving out the details he knew would annoy her. When they entered her office and she jumped up on her desk, he didn’t waste a second. His hands fell to her hips and he pulled her closer, biting into his lower lip. “Are you happy to see me, Hallie?” he questioned softly – this was a rare moment when he actually showed he gave a damn about her.

I was offered a job which I can make due with, since it does involve my recently acquired business management degree. I’m only an assistant, but the pay is good enough. I found an apartment in Greenwood, so I’m going to start having my stuff shipped over soon. I’ll stay in a hotel for now. And please, don’t scare away any of my boyfriends this time, not that I have one. Or even friends.
