𝓙ay could remember watching meteor showers in Bahia de Kino. The town lined the Sea of Cortez, and everything was always more visible by the beach. He could also remember wishing that his family wouldn’t move away that last summer, bummed that he would be leaving his childhood home and all of his extended family behind. 

Of course, his wish didn’t come true.

If it had, he wouldn’t be conjuring sleeping bags in Delaney and Damon’s living room, creating a pillow fort from the tip of his wand. He also wouldn’t know that the only reason his wishes hadn’t come true before was because he had no spells on hand. Life was loco that way.

“Yo, I think this is some of my best work.”

Jay lowered himself onto one of the sleeping bags. Since it was magic, he could custom fit it to his seven foot frame. “Let’s get some snacks over here. It’s not a party without snacks.” ( &. @dlaneys, @damonfvk )

for all things considered,  damon was somewhat  content  with his life.  the first time watching the meteor showers in his personal suite in st.  regal was somewhat memorable.  granted,  he didn’t make a wish.  he didn’t even know  what  to wish for.  even now,  he still didn’t know what to wish for.  for all he knew,  it might not come true.

but he shook his head from those thoughts.  it’ll come instinctually.

with that out of the way,  damon walked from the kitchen area to the living room of his and delaney’s shared flat.  trailing after him were three enchanted mugs of hot chocolate that were charmed to levitate.  he came to a stop once he spotted the pillow fort.

“  bro,  i have to agree with you.  ”

he sat down.  with a swish of his wand,  the mugs all settled themselves on the nearby coffee table.  with another flick of his wrist,  he summoned the candy he bought from honeydukes just after work today.  cauldron cakes.  chocoballs.  pumpkin pasties.    “  well this is some of the stuff i got today.  i think delaney might be whipping something up.  ”  (  @dlaneys  )

“oh for sure. i think that would have been awful if i didn’t, but i didn’t figure that’d be the case.” not when aurora had enjoyed– even training a lot. so, she figured it’d be the same when she officially started, and she had been right! “oh yeah, everything’s good with aidan and i. indeed! i mean it’s one of those things where it honestly just depends. but it’s also nice if that happens. i s’pose, that’s one of the great things about being in the same career field.” the blonde has to admit, for more reasons than she could probably list off the top of her head. “now that’s something i honestly don’t know if they teach the same things in healer training versus mediwix training.. aside from shadowing someone. i mean i would imagine some things would be different? or it would be a bit repetitive in some ways. could be a bit boring too. i reckon it’ll be something i’ll be looking into more. i’m excited to find out how that’d work exactly.” the former lion figured she’d find out for herself at some point– even if right now it wasn’t a matter of if but when. "no problem. it’s definitely great for sure, i’m glad things are going good. it’s weird how things work out sometimes, and that quite literally they just do. so i get what you mean entirely! merlin it’d be bad for me, being in such close proximity. it’s got to be really brilliant at the same time. now so being able to be there in a hop and a skip. i feel like most of mine would be spent at honeydukes and tomes and scrolls. because that’s usually where i go when visit hogsmeade.”

“  glad to hear it then  !  ”  damon grins.  “  i will honestly say that it’s really cute that you two are in the same career field.  i have always wondered about that you know  ?  like couples who are in the same career field and all that.  with you being an mediwitch and him as a mediwizard,  it’s understandable that you may not be scheduled to work the same shifts.  ”

the understanding dawns on him.  the medical life is a demanding one.  but at least now he knows the slight differences between mediwix training and healer training.

“  if anything,  i’m sure you can ask daphne  ?  she’s a healer trainee,  is she not  ?  and if you end up finding out the differences,  please do tell.  it’s a question that i  personally  believe needs some answering.  ”

the former ravenclaw chuckles.  “  well there needs to be a lot of self-control involved when it comes to  avoiding  honeydukes.  don’t get me wrong,  hogsmeade is great and all,  but there are days where i feel like it’s a little  too  close to hogwarts.  ”

              “ oh, without a doubt. “ monty replied evenly.  internally, he was tittering.  lezekiel was going to have a hippogriff when the announcement played.  he couldn’t wait to see his reaction.  really, it was a birthday present for himself too;  after all, their birthday’s were only a day apart.  lezekiel’s on the 13th, and his on the 14th.  “ he’ll LOVE it, i’m sure … “  he patted his pockets, searching for his galleons pouch.  “ so what will it run me ?  “

anything to add some fun into the show.  not that his show lacked substance or anything.  but being a broadcaster for the wizarding wireless network has its perks.  “  reckon it’ll run you  five  galleons.  let’s call it a friends and family discount.  you’re claramae’s husband and i consider her a close friend.  i hardly do these types of things so it ought to be fun.  ”  FIN.

      avalon nodded, a polite   –   but very slight   –   smile gracing her features. she remembered the party well, especially since her and gwaine had attended very few pureblood society events since the death of their parents in the winter of avalon’s fourth year. the memory of them had made avalon quite anxious and tense all night, and she was sure that she probably had not made the best impression on the nott family due to this. “i suppose it has been quite some time,” she confirmed. “things are well, just focusing on finishing up my last year at hogwarts strong and determining what i want to do with my time after graduation, you know? and how about yourself, damon?”

damon nods in comprehension.  he recalled the lack of socializing he did between the slytherin witch and her brother.  however,  his mother’s insistence that he go speak to avalon was something he could not  ignore.  he even tried to get cassandra to go with him just so that it wasn’t so  awkward.  despite not getting a proper read on the younger witch,  he got the distinct impression that she wasn’t in the mood to socialize.  it was understandable.

“  i know that feeling rather well.  i’m sure you’ll end up finding something you want to do.  i often do think that despite meeting with our head of house,  it’s hard to determine a  specific  career path.  but i’m doing well.  the show’s got a steady rise in viewers and whatnot.  ”

with her cloak wrapped around her, and a hot-air charm cast around her avalon clutched her hot butterbeer mug in her hands. it wasn’t that cold really, but the young slytherin witch had never dealt with impending winter weather all that well, and she hadn’t been feeling well  –  only made worse after being within the castle’s cold walls all day and forgetting her slytherin sweater in her dorm during classes.

walking back towards the castle from the three broomsticks, avalon focused on the warmth of her butterbeer between her hands, not noticing the impending collision with another wix until it was too late. 

“merlin!” she exclaimed, steadying her butterbeer and looking up at who had steadied her, recognizing damon instantly. “i’m fine  –  sorry about that damon, that was on me  –  wasn’t payin’ attention to where i was headed.” she took another sip from her butterbeer, taking a step back from the wizard now that she was steady on her feet again.

in an instant,  his hand flew up to run through his hair.  it’d become a habit.  he internally thanked merlin that he didn’t end up spilling avalon’s butterbeer.  of course,  a simple cleaning spell would most likely clean up the mess should it end up on his clothes.  but anything to save the effort.      “      oh no,  it’s okay.  really,  if anything i think it may have been my fault.  i wasn’t exactly watching where i was going.      ”      he gave her a polite smile.  damon hadn’t seen avalon since the opening of st.  regal all the way in liverpool.  his parents insisted on throwing a party of sorts and inviting anyone who was  anyone  in wizarding society in attendance.  fortunately,  this went  BEYOND  blood status.  and this,  included the balinor family.  though,  he never really could get a clear read on the blonde witch standing in front of him.      “      say,  i haven’t seen you since the party at st.  regal’s last winter,      ”      he started.      “      how are things  ?      ”

“it does more or less. some shifts aren’t as long as others. it really just depends.” aurora explains. not minding it at all, in fact she loved getting the chance to talk about her career. “honestly? i really just enjoy being able to help, and doing what i do. it is indeed! it is a lot especially at once. it’s so much information to take in. but i’m lucky enough to have this memory of mine that made things more bearable. and easier to remember everything being tossed at me. i thoroughly did enjoy training though. it was really great honestly. i know, at some point i’d like to be a healer as well. just; so that i would be able to really help. in anyway i possibly can.” even if she knew that it was more training. the former gryffindor was also sure it made her sound mental for wanting to go through more training. “that’s really good to hear! i definitely try to tune in whenever i can. it honestly always sounds like it’s so much fun to be able to do. congratulations too! on the success on your show, and the possibility of being on for three times a week. so true, the ties are always a dead giveaway and the robes too. i’m sure you see that a lot then being so close to hogwarts, makes it easier for visiting if anything. it’s been ages since i’ve stopped by for a visit. though i was at hogsmeade not that long ago for butterbeer.”

“      that sounds rather interesting.  but i’m glad to hear that you’re enjoying your job.  and i take it you and aidan are doing well  ?  he’s a mediwizard,  right  ?  if that’s so,  i do wonder if you two ever get assigned shifts at the same time,      ”      damon mused.      “      well i’m glad to hear that this is something you enjoy.  i wonder if there is a slightly different training for mediwix who wish to go into healer training.  i would suspect that you’d learn some of the same things as you would in regular healer training  ?      ”      he didn’t think it was a question that would ever arise in his circumstance.  but he figured it was worth asking since aurora mentioned it.      “      thank you  !  i do feel very fortunate for the show to have been such a success.  i think it’s funny that maybe a year ago,  i thought i would end up at the st. regal in golden pine helping out adonis.  i know,  i’m in hogsmeade more than i would have been when i was still in school.  then again,  i do like having all the shops within close proximity.  i could visit zonkos for a laugh if i’m feeling it or just go into tomes and scrolls for a new book or something.      ”

olivia rae‌:

a freezing wind whipped her auburn hair against her pale skin as olivia rae stood outside dominic maestro’s music shop, turning her clarinet in her hands to inspect the shopkeeper’s work in repairing what in the end was just slack tenons. the slytherin was not one to count her knuts, but she had spent weeks trying to figure out what was wrong with her instrument just to pay some guy a few galleons to lay a damp towel around the cork. ″ bloody mercenary. ″ she whispered into the town landscape, locking her clarinet inside the case and turning to walk back to the castle. 

she only made it a few steps in the direction before she turned again, this time hearing her name being shouted amongst the sounds of the village. the halfblood faced damon nott, whom she swore she hadn’t seen in person since when she still wet her bed at night. of course, she had seen photographs in the paper about his new show at the wizarding wireless network, and even caught a glimpse of him and his sister while they attended hogwarts at the same time as her. 

″ damon ? ″ her tone was almost shy. the nott siblings had always been kind to her, despite her family’s disgrace amongst pureblood families and her overall disgust of other people. ″ oh, i guess you hang around here a lot, recording your show. ″ she offered him a polite, albeit genuine, smile.

“      hey  !       ”      he greeted the younger witch with a smile.  it really had been a while since he last saw her.  of course he and cassandra saw glimpses of ollie during their time at hogwarts.  but none of them were in the same house,  though,  he often debated with both his siblings that cassandra could’ve easily ended up in slytherin with adonis.      “      yeah,  the wwn is just right up there.  so unfortunately,  that means i do happen to be in hogsmeade a lot,      ”      he jokes.      “      but it’s been a while since i last saw you,  how are you  ?      ”      despite the fact that his family stopped hanging out with hers,  it didn’t stop him from being nice to the halfblood witch.  it wasn’t his fault that those within the upper echelon of pureblood society would rather avoid dealing with those deemed  lesser.  but now was not the time to dwell on that.  besides,  his sister was certainly more vocal than him about these issues.

    𝓙ay watched Damon walk around the room, his air guitar solo falling from his consciousness as he decided to sit down on the chair next to Damon’s. “It’s good! Ah! Man, I have a course on Accounting right now, and I wish I had kept up with Arithmancy, because dude. Believe. me. when. I. say. it. is. killer.” He wiped his hands over his face in exaggerated exhaustion, but you could tell that he was happy where he was learning. “But if I’m a victim of Accounting, then I’m the Jason Vorhees of my sales course, my wiz!” He held his hand up for a high five, just as a wizard poked his head in to let Damon know the show would be starting.

Once the wizard was gone, Jay leaned back in for part of their intricate handshake, which was equipped with finger wiggles, sound effects, and even putting their wands together for a fake sword fight, which caused sparks to fly. Just before the fake fight could reach its crescendo, the broadcast from the Wizarding Wireless Network began. As planned, instead of Damon’s usual introduction, Jay began to throw down a sick beat. His hands covered his mouth as he beatboxed, keeping it crisp so his best mate could freestyle that the boys of the wrock duo DJ were in the castle!

damon laughed again and returned the high five.  he only has a vague understanding of the muggle terms jay was using.  he went in for their intricate handshake.  was it unnecessarily long to the outsider  ?  probably.  but did that stop them from adding more moves  ?  it  absolutely  did  NOT.  as soon as he heard the familiar countdown,  damon plopped down on the seat in front of the enchanted microphone.

at the sound of his best friend beatboxing,  he nodded to the beat.      “     ...  it’s d and j comin’ at you from wwn.  you know what it is,  it’s untitled yo  !  ...      ”      he continued freestyling for a bit longer before ending it.      “      well as you can tell,  it’s not your average day here in the studio.  and you can tell that my best mate is here  !  what’s up,  man  ?      ”      it was still really hard to believe that the wwn gave him the opportunity to have his own wireless show.

“i appreciate it, thank you.” aurora has a smile written across her features, much like there is always one on her face– it was a rare sight to see when there wasn’t. as she takes the drink upon it being offered to her. “oh for sure! but i completely understand.” there’s a wave of one of her hands with dismissal, the natural blonde didn’t mind. not all. “i love being a mediwitch and being able to help people on a day to day basis. it’s one of my favorite things, even if the shifts can be long, sometimes. but it’s worth it.” it had gone left unsaid; that after the cauldron heists, that she was just beyond happy to be back to work. “oh definitely a lot can change! but with me not so much. everything is more or less the same since the last time. i reckon it’s just me being an official mediwitch now and being done with training. it went by so quick honest to merlin. how have you been, and your radio show of course? good i hope.”

damon nodded and settled down in his seat.  he took a small sip of his beverage.  he listened intently to what rory was saying.      “      i’m glad to hear it  !  i mean i guess working in the medical field would require long hours.  i don’t know how healers do it either.  it’s not like st.  mungos can be closed.  but i don’t know how you do it rory.  isn’t mediwix training three weeks  ?  that must be a lot to learn within that time span.      ”      he really did admire those in the medical field.      “      i’ve been well  !  my show is doing just as well.  the executives were thinking of having my show on three times a week instead of two.  so i’m doing pretty well.  it’s still weird being in such close proximity to hogwarts.  i have the tendency to forget and once i see the ravenclaw,  slytherin,  hufflepuff,  or gryffindor ties  ––  that’s  when i remember.      ”

he ran his hand through his neatly styled quiff.  walking alongside a colleague through the streets of hogsmeade,  the two chatted about the success of his radio show.  sure he still had no idea where in merlin’s name he was taking the show,  but  untitled  was still a good name for a show.  “      sounds great,  mate  ...      ”      the two stepped into dominic maestro’s music shop.  while damon didn’t play as much as he used to in school,  he still liked to dabble around on his show.  he just needed to pop in and grab some valve oil. 

just as he made his purchase,  damon spotted a familiar face outside.      “      listen,  i don’t mean to be rude,  but is it okay if we move this conversation for tomorrow  ?  when we’re back in the studio sorting out stuff  ?      ”      a confirmation from his colleague was all he needed before the two parted ways.

“      ollie  !      ”      he stepped out of the shop and called the younger witch.  it’d been a while since he saw the slytherin.  then again,  the last time he could recall was when he and cassandra were children.

  “damn, alesso. look at you, living the dream,” jay sat down on the edge of one of the tables laden with old looking tech, enchanted to channel magic. he took a sip of the butterbeer, then put it down, unaware of the foam mustache he was now rocking. his warm brown eyes sparkled. “i wish people would pay me to sit around and talk all day.” he smiled goofily. “no, no wait. i think i feel a song coming on.” the seven foot tall wizard stood, shaggy curls bouncing, as he prepared his nonexistent axe against his neon sweatshirt. “ ♪ i wish people would pay me, to sit around and slay thee. i’m a dragon on the mic, baby. ♪  esto es para tí mi amor. ” cue him going into an exaggerated guitar solo, his teeth digging into his bottom lip in faux concentration.

“      i will readily admit that merlin has blessed me.     ”      damon laughed at the sight of the foam mustache that jay was sporting.  he tapped the microphone sitting at the table.  there was one there,  and there was another enchanted to follow him around the room should he feel like walking around. he let out another laugh,  almost falling off his seat.      “      well you’re not wrong.  it’s nice.  never thought that i’d end up here to be honest.  and besides,  the show will start in a couple minutes.  someone will let me know  ...  they usually do.      ”    he shrugged.  the studio area was something that came out of his imagination.  the candy station could rival that of the honeydukes express.  then again,  it was either honeydukes providing the sweets or the wwn stockpiling on sweets.

he couldn’t help but think how different things turned out to be.  then again,  he didn’t expect to form a wrock duo with jay.  nor did he expect dj to gain so much popularity.  that was probably what aided his show’s quick rise to popularity.  but he was grateful nonetheless.      “      anyways,      ”      he cleared his throat.  he took out his wand and cast a levitation charm on his cup just so that he didn’t have to keep setting it down on the table.      “      what’s up with you,  man  ?  how’s muggle education treating you  ?      ”

「 @avalcns​​ gets a semi-plotted starter. 」

to the outsider,  damon was a presentable and charming lad that was representing the family name.  even if no one knew that he was only cassandra and adonis’ half-brother.  the three were closer than ever.  him with cassandra moreso than adonis.  any social gatherings that required the family of  five to be there,  the nott siblings were always held to a standard.  hence why first impressions could be quite misleading.  

the impression followed once he’d gone to hogwarts.  boarding the hogwarts express with his sister by his side was nothing different.  that changed in his fifth year when he was suddenly regarded as the new heartthrob of the school.  he had no idea how this happened.  for merlin’s sake  !  the girls who tried to get his attention were rather intimidating to say in the least. it didn’t stop even when he had a girlfriend.  it was safe to say that there could be others who didn’t particularly like him for that.  he wasn’t to know.

nonetheless,  he continued to reminisce.  it happened every so often.  especially since he was so close to his alma mater.  sure he established himself by becoming a broadcaster.  but it was nothing compared to cassandra when she deviated from working in the family business and built a name for herself in the quidditch world.  then again,  she was also known for helping and supporting the philantropwix.  through his musings,  he continued to walk absentmindedly through the streets only to stop when he realized he bumped into someone.

“      oh  !   my apologies.  are you alright  ?      ”      he reflexively reached out to steady the wix.

           there were no particular shows that monty would single out to be the best option. each show had its own audiences.  to have and to hold, a show about dating, was popular among teens, but shows like damon’s and some of the wizarding soap operas had targeted audiences – sometimes LARGER audience bases.  truthfully, tracking down someone else to ask about the announcement seemed like a hassle.  damon was sat before him, after all.  better the wix you know than the wix you don’t.  “ let’s have you do it then. “  he decided.  reaching into his cloak to withdraw a scroll of parchment.  on it, he’d written what he wanted the announcement to say.  it was vert sweet, almost saccharine, and he knew lezekiel would HATE it.  all in all,  it was perfect.  “ here yo go. “  he handed it over.  “ best announce it the day before and the day of, i’d reckon. “

damon took the parchment from monty.  he briefly glanced over the contents.  it was going to be  entertaining  to say in the least.  he figured it was a good thing that monty asked him about it rather than someone within the wizarding soap operas.  merlin knows how that is going to end up.      “      this is certainly something.      ”      he raised his brows at the former slytherin.      “      and you reckon that he’ll appreciate the sentiment  ?      ”      he couldn’t help but chuckle.

“      alright,  here we go.      ”      damon sat down as he charmed the levitated cups of coffee to follow him.  he handed one to aurora.     “      it’s definitely been a while.  how’s being a mediwitch  ?      ”      he grabbed the cup and took a small sip of his drink.      “      it’s been a while since we last spoke.  i feel like i’ve missed  SO MUCH.      ”

“      alright  !  we’re back at it again in the studio,      ”      damon laughs as he flops onto one of the nearby chairs in his studio.   it only seemed like yesterday when he had claramae on the show with him.  and now,  he was even happier to have his best mate here.  he grabbed the cups of butterbeer sitting on the desk,  a courtesy of the three broomsticks and handed one to jay.  he enjoyed the perks that came with working for the wizarding wireless network.  it was nice.  he was in charge of his own radio show.  and he thought he was fortunate enough to have garnered such a viewership.  even if he didn’t know what in the name of merlin he was doing.      “      it’s pretty cool right  ?      ”
