Damon Sebastian Blakewood made his appearance in this world two years after his parents married. Daniel and Maria Blakewood were blissfully in love when their son was born in 1983.

Born into a prominent family in town, Damon was given everything he had ever wanted. That includes two younger siblings, ones who became his closest confidants

Though born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he was taught right from wrong early on and was disciplined appropriately by his parents. Both of whom had good heads on their shoulders. 

He was an active kid, always loved being outdoors and tinkering with things, trying to find out how things worked. 

Being from a prominent family allowed him to breeze through school on a social level, always able to make friends and have a good group. His grades were average in some subjects but he excelled in science and math. 

After graduating high school, he moved across the country for college, attending MIT for his undergraduate degree before moving back to the west coast while obtaining his PhD. 

While in college he met his future wife and they fell in love hard and fast. They didn't start a family right away, both he and his wife pursuing future education. 

Their daughter was finally born a year after they moved to Kismet in 2012. He was the poster child for the American dream, complete with white picket fence and all. 

However on a rainy night in 2018 his world turned upside down. Opting to stay late at the office working on a project, he missed his daughter's dance recital. What should have been a family outing turned into a family tragedy when his wife and daughter crashed due to the weather. 

Losing a child was the hardest thing he had ever gone through, even worse than when his wife left and divorced him in 2021. The pain being too much to bear. 

In 2023 he made a vow to himself that he'd work less, shifting his focus to teaching. Getting a job at Chapman University, he started to help open the minds of Kismet. 

Now he's a full time professor and mentor, consulting for a big company on a as needed basis. He lives with his dog in Emerald Mist and is always trying to lend a helping hand to whomever needs it.

"Well, the dog is totally more important than travel, so I get that. If uh, I mean, if you ever need someone, though, I'm pretty good with pets. I dog sit for my family a lot," she offered, tossing it out there just in case he actually did want to take the time for himself to go somewhere. "You still get to do cool stuff here. Research is like the foundation of all science, if you think about it." Even if he wasn't actively out there building rockets, the work that he was able to do here with the students he taught was just as important. Her shoulders sunk down as they talked about the expense of school, her head nodding again. It was the biggest hurdle to her going back to school, knowing that she barely had money to eat, let alone to pay for classes. "Yeah, like, I dunno. Even if I did think I could do it, I could never afford it, so its like. At least I get to come pretend for a little bit and talk to you about cool stuff." It was a solace for her sometimes being able to bring research articles she found or news from big companies to Damon to get his opinion. "I uh - I mean, I had a full scholarship to MIT like right when I graduated, just um. Made some bad choices and...yeah. I may not be too old to come back to school, but I am most definitely too poor to."

"True, and I agree to a point," he smiled softly, eyes averting to the framed photo he had on his desk of him and his dog. "Oh wow, uh yeah sure, I can definitely let you know. He's a big guy though so be forewarned." He turned the photo around to show her, the St. Bernard lounging by Damon's side in his backyard last summer. Turning it back around and nodding, "I absolutely do and it is, though I made a vow to someone a few years ago to not work as much," his demeanor shifting ever so slightly at the memory of his daughter peeking through momentarily. Sitting back in his chair, he then nodded, seeing how Remi reacted and he paused for a moment. He hummed for a moment, "There are a ton of scholarships out there," he started to say before she had revealed about her full ride to MIT. "You could always try to apply again and apply here," he suggested and then chewed his lip, breathing through his nose softly. "You have been a great help and a lot of fun to talk with," he hated the situation and wondered if there was any way around her situation, "it couldn't hurt to try to apply again right?" Now wondering if there was anything he could do to potentially get her back in school, as she had been a lot of help and he could see the potential she had. @remingtonelliot

James looked up at the man who approached, bordering on the line of telling him to leave them alone or to be thankful. Luckily for James, her friend was a dainty small, yet clumsy woman. "I can manage, thank you." She told him in a lyrical tone, which most definitely had to do with the fact she'd been drinking. Taking her friends hands she hoisted her up, it ending in a weighty hug from the other before she yelled SHOTS and ran to the bar. "She's got thick skin, she'll be juuust fine." She responded to the man, taking a good look at him and seeing that the beer had landed on him. Bar risk hazard, right? @damonxblakewood

As he offered to help, seeing the woman was way past just drunk, he knew she was in no way to stand up or walk on her own. He wasn't necessarily being chivalrous to the point where he thought they couldn't handle it but more so because he didn't want to seem like an asshole by ignoring them after he was soaked by the beer. At the other's insistence, he out his hands up, "you sure?" He asked purely because handling a drunk friend wasn't exactly an easy task, unfortunately having done so with friends way back when. His eyes got wide as the woman yelled SHOTS and ran to the bar, letting out a chuckle, "alrighty then." He looked down at his now beer soaked shirt and let out a breath, "well, uh, can I at least replace your drink that I am now wearing?" @jamesxadams

"You know you could've brought him over. I never say no to Apollo coming over, plus I keep the chocolate in unreachable places anyways so I wouldn't let him get into anything that would make him sick," Rhea told him with a grin. She had been almost devastated due to her specific niche career when her brother had gotten the Saint Bernard but had fallen in love with him almost instantly at the first meeting. And that was what led to her making her home safe for her dog nephew for all the times he'd come over and tackled her with hugs. "But valid...you are always early so I'll hold back judgement, for now," she warned with a grin as she led him into the home and pulled out the special tray of bonbons. "I was going to save them for dessert but I'm impatient...you know that," she grinned and pushed it over to his side. "Honest opinions okay? "I know, but do you really want all his fur and slobber all over the place?" He asked and shook his head, his saint Bernard being a lovable giant but made a mess with shedding and drooling all over the place. He knew she wouldn't let his dog get into anything that would hurt him, he trusted his sister implicitly. Getting his dig had been his saving grace and he was his constant companion, though he couldn't bring him everywhere. The larger the dog, the more of a mess they make. But Damon was grateful his sister loved Apollo as much as he did. "Of course I am but whatever," he shook his head before shooting her a look and playfully and childishly, stuck his tongue out at her. Watching as she took out the chocolate, he couldn't help but chuckle, "that I do know. And you always have been you know." His eyes worked their way from the tray back up to her and nodded before taking one and savoring them. "My favorite part about you being a chocolatier? Is getting to try all the new stuff because these are amazing." @rheaxblakewood

Abraham was always grateful to hear words coming from people in his life. The estates were incredibly special to him and had been for as long as he could remember. "Yeah," he nodded his head to Damon's words. "I grew up here, always running a muck around the estates. I think my parent's where disappointed when I didn't come home covered in dirt and have hay stuck in my hair." Instinctively, he reached up to touch the top of his head. "Never fails," he plucked a piece of hay, letting it fall to the ground. "This place will always hold a special place in my heart and I hope it continues to go on for generations." Damon let out a breath, the cool air was a contrast against the warmth outside. "Touche," he said with a soft smile before letting out a soft chuckle, "that means it was a day we'll had I'd say. Means you had fun and a good day which every parent wants for their kid." Or that's how he had felt way back when. "I definitely love it here still and you've done well with the place." He knew he had taken over for things at the estates and Damon saw firsthand how it still brought happiness to people. "I'm sure it will." @abrahamxwhitney

When Aliye had happened upon a sealed envelope addressed to simply whoever finds this, her curiosity had gotten the better of her. A card inside with an address and a time and nothing else, while ominous, did nothing to deter her from showing up outside the random downtown address. It was an unmarked building and when she arrived outside at the listed time, she spotted another man there that appeared to be just as confused as she was. "Hey, you get one of these too?" she called out, holding up her copy of the invitation towards Damon as she approached the building. "Or are you a serial killer luring people here to murder them? Fair warning, I won't be an easy murder."

Though classes hadn't been in session, he did his best work in his office at the university where is was nice and quiet. So after lunch he had gone back and found an envelope that was slipped under the locked the door. There wasn't a name on it, so he wasn't even sure if it was meant for him, however he had to open it, make sure if it was meant for someone else that it would eventually get to them. However as he opened it, and saw an invitation inside, he couldn't just ignore that either. He had nothing else to do, so he followed the instructions and went to the address at the specified time. Leaning against his car, he saw someone else there. Holding it up as the other questioned him, "yeah. Though I can't say I'm the actual person it's actually for." He shrugged his shoulders before shaking his head and putting up his hands, "definitely not a serial killer. Nor am I trying to become one by luring random people with invitations. And something tells me you definitely wouldnt go down without a fight." @aliyebalik

There were a few people in Kismet James had already met, including some of her neighbours who had graciously invited her for a night out at Wingman's pub. She was having a blast, making friends fast, drinking the beverages pushed into her hands while occasionally eyeing the handsome bartender behind the bar. It was free to look, right? Her attention was pulled however when one of the girls she'd gone out with had fallen from her seat, the pint of beer she'd been holding thrown into the air and towards a group of men that stood near them. James had no eye for them though, getting up with half a laugh to help up her fallen comrade. "Oh boy, I think you had enough girl. Don't make me carry you home because I'm not as strong as I look."

Though he should have been home with his kid and wife, the powers that be had shifted that life into a different time line. So instead he was out with a group of friends, ones he held onto since childhood and had stuck by him through thick and thin. At Wingman's Pub the drinks had been flowing between the group of men when they felt a splash from the table beside them. As if on cue, they all turned at once, and looked upon the scene of a drunken girl and her friend. To Damon they both seemed to be sloshed, way past being able to drive home. "Hey let me help," he started to say, going over to the young women and of erring to help her up. "Thankfully I don't think she'll be able to feel any pain until the morning." @jamesxadams

"No big trips or anything? Go like, I dunno. Wherever people go. A break of any sort is probably nice, though. Is it hard being a professor? It seems like it would be," she chattered on. Most of the time spent talking to Damon had been about his research and the work he did, all things she found endlessly fascinating. It was an abrupt realization that she didn't know much about the man otherwise as they talked about what summer would look like for them both. Her lips pursed for a moment before her teeth bit down at her lower lip. "Uh - I guess um. A lot of reasons, I think. School is expensive, so like, that's a bummer. I don't even know how to like start school again since I'm like older now. I - well, I was supposed to do college like right out of high school, but um. Made some bad choices, I guess, and never got to finish. So, like, I don't know if they even um...give people second chances at school?" At the heart of it, though, a fear of failing again kept Remi from even trying anymore.

"Unfortunately not," he sighed and shook his head, fiddling with a paperclip on his desk. "I don't have anyone to watch my dog," he didn't go into detail that he didn't have the itch to travel nor did he have someone to go with. But he just left it at that. "Honestly I enjoy it. Do I miss the hands on stuff of actually being an engineer? Sure. But this is important here. Plus it gives me time to do other things I enjoy," he had some other hobbies but didn't go into too much detail, especially as she would potentially become his student one day. Nodding, he shifted and leaned back in his chair, "unfortunately it is. I never understood why college and universities were so expensive here. Like overseas they're free." He didn't want to get into it but he had plenty of qualms about a lot of things in the states. Shaking his head, "there's nothing wrong with going back to school. Plenty of people do it much later in life. Come on you can't be more than twenty five?" He asked before fiddling with a pen, "I knew a guy who was in his sixties and just going for his degree. That's the great thing about college, you can start whenever. And when you do it's a clean slate. No questions asked." @remingtonelliot

Emma listened as Damon began to speak through their options, and she laughed, shaking her head. "You make me sound so boring, D." she added, exhaling as she lifted her own cup of tea and sipped it as Darcy situated herself right next to Damon, a spot she'd deemed her favorite anytime the male was over. "I figured - if you wanted - we could finish up our drinks, go grab some food, come back here and watch a movie or something?" she paused. "Unless you'd rather do something out and I think there are a few things going on around town." she paused. "Like pride week I know is this week and I'm pretty sure there's some performance at the local theater if that's more your speed." she looked away for a second as if thinking. He rolled his eyes and stuck out his tongue, playfully showcasing his distain for her sentiment. Of course he was purely joking, thankful for an old friend with whom he could banter and joke around with. "We're old, might as well lean into the boring part," he took a sip of the tea, welcoming the hot liquid as he settled him on the couch, his hand reaching to pet Darcy. "That sounds good to me," he nodded, leaning the mug on his knee, "honestly I haven't the slightest idea of what else to do. I barely know what's going on in this town half the time. At least during the school year I don't." He didn't have a reason to keep up with that kind of thing; not anymore at least. Not since losing his daughter and divorcing his wife. So now he stayed in and stuck to the familiar. "Unless you wanted to do something?" He asked before sitting up straighter at the sound of the car show, "a vintage car show? That sounds interesting enough." @emmajlin

Rhea knew she didn’t need to get the house all cleaned up for her brother’s visit. After all, she did grow up with Damon so he knew her living habits quite well but that didn’t mean she wasn’t going to keep a box of specially made chocolates out on the coffee table. He was meant to be her tester today and she couldn’t wait for his opinion. Of course, she’d called him over for dinner and to catch up but the chocolates were her real ulterior motive, one that was blatantly clear with the little notepad she kept right next to the box. Each flavour pictured, labelled and with a comment box for him to fill out. She was just lucky that he put up with her eccentricities this way. As soon as the doorbell rang, she threw open the front door with a bright grin. "Finally, I've only been waiting forever," she told him with an eye roll, even if he definitely wasn't late and really just loved exaggerating.

The single most constant person in his life other than his parents, was his sister. Through thick and thin, she had been by his side, and he had hoped he could always be there for her. Even when it came to being a guinea pig for her chocolates, which overall was a pretty sweet deal. Heading over to his sister's, he left Apollo at home with plenty of water and his favorite chew toy. "Sheesh," he rolled his syes, "Apollo took forever on his walk, had to stop and smell every damn rose and hydrant." He stepped inside her home and bent down to take off his shoes, "blame your dog nephew not me. I'm always early you know that." @rheaxblakewood

Having met Damon awhile back at the cafe while working, Remi had come to know him enough to feel comfortable dropping by his workplace whenever the thought struck her. While she wasn't in any classes at the university, she was fascinated by everything he was doing and loved to at least pop in and chat from time to time or bring cool videos of stuff she captured on her telescopes at night. "Summer? No, uh, I guess just like still working and...same stuff as always, I think. No trips or anything," she shrugged. Summer wasn't much different for her than any other time of year since she wasn't in school or in a job that changed with the seasons. Her head shook a bit when he mentioned the fall semester, an anxious laugh leaving her lips. "And uh, still not signed up for any fall semester classes or like. Any classes." Not only could she simply not afford to take classes, she also wasn't sure she was even ready to try college again after the first time had ended so poorly. "You doing anything fun for the summer? Or like. Do you teach summer classes too?

Damon nodded his head slowly as he listened to Remi before him. "I get that, same here honestly. Working and relaxing and maybe I'll go fishing. But other than that it's just the same as tgw rest of the year except minus a few classes," he lifted a shoulder as he scratched the scruff in his chin he had been growing. He didn't have much going on his life that would pull him to take time off anyway, only his dog who did not know the difference. So he'd occupy his time as much as he could. "Oh," he pulled his chair in closer to his desk which allowed him to rest his elbows on the surface, "is there a specific reason why? Any way I could help or sway you?" He asked, though he didn't want to overstep things, especially as they hadn't exactly worked together and he wasn't her professor, just a potential one one day. @remingtonelliot

"You know, for as long as I've been coming up here, I never get tired of it," he looked behind Abraham and over at the stables, "something about the horses." The sun glowed overhead, a golden hue upon everything it touched, as Damon took in a breath, the sound or lack there of, of nature filling in the gaps. "I remember being a kid and riding here and absolutely loving it," his own folks teaching him how to ride when he was younger, and growing up alongside the man beside him. "I'm sure the memories are just as good, if not better here for you too."

"You got me out of the house, away from pouring over the last of my grades to submit," he sighed and then took a sip of the wine in front of him, "now what?" He asked as he looked at his one of his best friends, one who he had known for well over twenty years. He had tirelessly worked himself during yet another semester, thankful to have the summer off, to recuperate his mind and body. "Did you wanna go out or stay in? Or we could go out, pick up food and come back to stay i. I just have to make sure I feed and walk Apollo before I knock out for the night."

"Any plans for the summer?" Damon asked as he sat behind his desk in his office, the sunlight peering in through the window. The sounds of birds and chatter filling up the background as a cool breeze poured in from the outside. Holding office hours at the end of the semester was important to Damon, especially to those he had agreed to mentor or took a liking to. "And I don't just mean thinking about the fall semester either, everyone deserves a chance to shut off and reboot for the summer. I sure as shit know I will be."
