now that most nationals are over, let me make an intro post lol

but hi, my name is jenna and i’ve been a long time dance fan! like many others, my introduction into the world of dance was facilitated by dance moms. however, i fell in love with competition dance and began to follow popular dancers/studios at the time

i don’t follow the competition circuit as closely as i used to, but i enjoy seeing the liveliness and energy in here during national season! i love the jokes, the support, the (usual) positivity, and the talent that i get to witness every single year

outside of being a dance fan, i’m 22, i’m getting a masters degree in statistics (i LOVE all the spreadsheet people and data organizers on here haha). my goal is to be more engaged with the fandom outside of lurking through posts and asking for playlist links.

anyway, i hope to connect with other dance fans out there as well! thanks for coming to my blog :)

to all dancers/performers/choreographers/costumers, what purpose do tights serve? to my knowledge, most tights are sheer but i keep seeing people (on tiktok 🙃) say that leotards without tights are scandalous and revealing. i know it’s “standard” for ballerinas to wear tights for uniformity purposes, but do tan tights serve a different purpose?

on a similar note, i totally understand why fishnet tights are frowned down upon in most contexts. but what makes black, brown, tan, and pink tights more modest? is it the illusion of the leg being covered? do they keep costumes from riding up? are they typically more opaque than i’m thinking?

i’m so glad there is a dialogue around child safety and appropriateness in the competitive dance circuit. i wanna make sure i’m fully informed before i start arguing with people in tiktok comments 😭
