DANCIN' FOR HANSEN
This Saturday (March 24) the DanceCult DJs will be spinning at Dancin' for Hansen, an 80's themed dance party, in support of our friends Betsy and Johnny at Radar Hair and Records.
Betsy Hansen and Johnny Samra are co-owners of Radar, one of the coolest spaces in Seattle, which triples as a hair salon, record shop/vintage boutique, and performance/party venue. Proceeds from this event will go towards supporting the couple as they deal with Betsy's cancer and manage to keep their business going during these difficult times.

You may know Betsy Hansen as a talented and bubbly stylist, or maybe you've seen her playing bass in her band, Blank its. You may have partied at RADAR Hair and Records, which she co-owns with husband Johnny Samra. With the help of Betsy's ingenuity and DIY sensibilities, RADAR has quickly blossomed into a welcoming and unique space for bands, designers, and artists. Betsy has lived in this city a long time, and has always been a dynamic force in Seattle's creative community. Betsy was recently diagnosed with cancer and she and Johnny need help. Fortunately, they have qualified for state medical assistance, but Betsy will be out of work for at least two months. Given the energy and resources it takes to make a small business thrive, Betsy's time away from cutting hair at RADAR and Johnny's role in her recovery will be a substantial blow to their income, as neither will have the capacity to earn money during this time. Our goal with this fund is to ease the immediate financial burden on these wonderful people by covering their mortgage and bills while neither is able to work. To reach this goal, we need to raise $18000 by June 15th. Betsy and Johnny are loved by many people, and a community like theirs has the power to help these two through a very tough time. Money is tight right now for lots of us, and anything you give will make a difference.
