i think it was in her best interest not to go to DC Dance Factory. they don't frequent convention and don't seem to fit her style. she would be much much better suited training at Milele Academy!
Are you actually for real !? The studios literally love bringing in Travis. The parents and dancers love it more and his co workers, friends, stand by him. No one cares about those accusations. hot take, molly has not done enough to expand her curriculum to maintain her high level of students. she is a PHENOMENAL jazz instructor! maybe the best of modern time...no denying that. but beyond that, she has struggled to hire and bring in instructors of other genres that match the level of her jazz training. sometimes, p21 can come off one dimensional. i will say though, brining in Cory and Troy next season is huge! i have seen first hand how they've transformed South Tulsa and they are both very reputable in terms of contemporary and modern.
If anything, jazz dance is harder than contemporary, technically! AND because “contemporary”(btf edition) is contemporary, you can get away with a lot more when it comes to choreography and judging.
valid take, anon! contemp routines def are held to a different standard and i believe that's because contemp pieces can win solely on concept and not on technique, while jazz routines are judged in a very critical technical manner.

I see your point however I do think it is only really valid for like groups and stuff. The solos that are jazz are amazing and have won regionals many times however at tda comp is way harder and so I think there are just other kids who are better in the bd competition Dyllan won bd with jazz and so it’s not impossible and Isabella was runner up with jazz last year. But for groups 100% agree they will always choose the lyrical and contemporary to win as it is “more mature” and often seen as harder by judges.
i assume you're referencing when dyllan won with haunted? for one, she's an exception to every rule as in my opinion she's a generational talent. second, i could even argue that haunted was more contemp fusion than it was jazz. i also think the comp world is just tired of molly's choreo as well...i personally believe the issue spans over every level: groups, solos, and duo/trios but i get your point
p21's lack of success isn't because of molly...it's because of tda's style and preferences. tda has NEVER rewarded a jazz routine like they do a contemp, that's really been the way of the dance world for a while. especially with minis, contemp will always do better because it's deemed more mature while younger dancers are expected to be stronger at jazz routines.
i think the biggest issue with Travis still being relevant is the fact the biggest studios get pieces from him every year: Larkin constantly has kids get solos from him, Mather had Emma with I love the movies, and Stars brought him in with Out for Blood last year. it will constantly be an issue if big studios are not held liable for allowing him into their space.
cami should style everyone for their solos because her costumes every single year are cutting edge
gracyn really took last year personal! after all the comments about her not being mature enough to do well in teen, she found her method that let her stay true to gracyn but find that maturity and caliber that teen calls for. beyond excited for her future
one thing i won't ever shut up about is the way some of y'all on tumblr treat the mini and junior male divisions. as a dancer who grew up in that space it's not about being compared to the girls, it is solely about being seen and appreciated for a talent that a lot of the time society tells you you can't do because it's for girls and isn't masculine enough. this community always says be kind and appreciative to dancers but flips the script and comes for the skill level of young male dancers. it's bothersome to me
one moment i’m watching 3 incredible mini female recompetes dancing with the maturity and technique of seniors and the next i’m watching a mini male hip hop solo to a justin bieber compliation. life is coming at me fast
there needs to be some sort of adjustment to the system, it seems almost ridiculous that these 6 solos are from the same age divisions
The level of the mini boys just can’t even touch the level of those mini girls…
what's being missed is this is a much bigger issue than just skill level. it's the fact guy dancers are still stigmatized and don't start serious training early on like their female teammates/competitors...it would be completely unfair to combine them or change the method at all. exposure and feeling appreciated for dancing is the biggest and best thing for male dancers that young.

my heart is broken for destayne. no matter the finish what an intelligent, thruough, and breathtaking dancer she is! im devastated
the thing about destanye and a lot of stars dancers is that u can tell that their passion for dance is whats most important to them so I hope that she and anyone else who didn’t make it all the way are proud of themselves that they were simply able to go onstage and express themselves this week
absolutely! the fact that most of them do school in studio and want to dedicate from the time they wake up to the time they sleep to their craft is admirable! i don't know if she ages out this year but i'd love to see her pull a jaxon willard, super senior, and win the title!
