The way in which the day was progressing only managed to pull a sigh from the young man. Every time he brought his attention to a clock or the time on his phone, everything seemed to slow down. One thing he always agreed on was that time flies when you’re having fun, however it always slows down at the most unfair of times. Finishing off his Ramen with a loud slurp, he stretched out his arms and let out a small yawn.
I wonder how long I’ve been waiting now. Was the thought that continuously came to mind. How long had he spent in the small shop? When was Asuna arriving? He’d missed her more than he could’ve imagined, so to say he was anxious was an understatement. Leaning back on his stool and casting his gaze once more out of the window, he was caught extremely off guard as someone squealed his name.
Almost falling back off of his stool, he managed to grab onto the counter behind him in order to steady himself, an embarrassed grin forming across his lips as the onlookers simply stared. Once he’d regained his composure, he looked behind him to see a rather adorable, chestnut-haired woman looking down at him. Admittedly it took a while for him to recognize who she exactly was, but once this had been achieved he jumped to his feet faster than the human eye could hope to follow.
"A-Asuna!"
Asuna instantly clasped her hand to her mouth, realizing how all sounds in the shop fell silent after the little commotion she caused. Cheeks slightly reddening, the girl made an 'I'm-sorry' gesture to the other guests around and approached Kirito in long steps, who seemed to take as much blame thanks to his over-the-top reaction. It was hard not to smile over it, however--the fact that he was also here, a day earlier than he promised he would be back. Her lips curled up as he turned to look at her, eyes gleaming with anticipation.
...And yet, after seconds of silence, her smile started to melt. The raven-haired boy looked... confused, to say the least. Or more like blank. the expression she swore she wouldn't mistake after all the years he had been using it. --Even worse, he showed no sign of recognition.
Really. He had the courage to forget her face just because they went separate ways?
Her brows started to form a V-shape when all of a sudden Kazuto stood up shouting her name, making the light came back to her eyes. Her fingers caught his arm in case he would fall again. "Forget me already?" She muttered, letting a small sigh of relief escape her lips as she buried her face in his jacket. He smelled just the way she remembered it.
