Judging from my Millennial daughter and her peers the biggest problem is cynicism, nihilism, and conspiratorial thinking. Its as if they want to do right by their own conscience, but they have seen George Carlin's piece about the club and get it.

If nominating Bernie leads to a youth wave (0+ / 0-) It will have many positive downballot effects. If Millenials show up to the polls they're going to vote straight Dem.

Bernie has proven he can work in a hostile environment. He's been one of the most successful in Congress at getting amendments passed and recently worked with Republicans to pass a major VA reform bill.

The Clinton legacy of "compromise" is a murky one that includes NAFTA, welfare reform, criminal justice reform, repealing Glass Steagall and voting for the Iraq War. It's not been the most friendly to progressives. Personally, I trust Bernie far more to hold the line against Republicans.

NAFTA? Welfare reform? Criminal justice reform? Repealing Glass Steagall? Voting for the Iraq War? Offering chain CPI on Social Security? Taking the public option off the table? The sequester?

The history of "compromising" with Rethuglicans is a long and ugly one. Maybe I'm young and naive, but I'd hate to see what more "compromise" with the nihilists on the right will lead to. I'd rather have someone who understands the moral importance attached to all of these issues, and won't give them an inch.

The kids here in my town (2+ / 0-) are what keep me going.

I have said this elsewhere. Our high school has a self-organized team which has already registered over 100 of their classmates and intend to register all the Juniors and Seniors.

OSU is organizing like gang busters. No more 80% of them not voting. Bernie has noticed their dire straits and has been the only one to talk about crushing debt and poverty wages. Move over, oldsters, the world will be theirs!

The nominee has to do more than get Millenials (3+ / 0-) to agree with them more than not. That's a test you should apply to a demographic which will show up at the polls. But the trick with Millenials is they have to show up in the first place, and to do that you have to get them excited. Polls show Hillary just isn't doing that.
