I'm working on making a recipe book of all the recipes in palia (gotta use the indesign skills i learned for something) as they're said/shown in game, for example Hodari has a recipe where he mentions Leta, and then there's some recipes where all i have is how we do them in game (+ the wiki cause i don't personally have all the recipes lol); @hotlettucesoup came up with some plausible ideas for recipes that S6 could implement so i was wondering if anyone else has any recipes or recipe ideas!
(also i had forgotten i had some recipes written by the characters, i think i am going to regret this whole decision when i get to the formatting stage but oh well lol)
also i know it makes sense but man so many of the recipes are obtained from Reth in some way lmao
very light spoilers for some recipe locations? (the cut is also cause this is getting long and rambly lol)
there's a few where i'm not entirely sure if they're Reth's or not, namely the cookbooks scattered around Kilima (and Bahari?), cause for example there's one of the blue cookbooks in Ashura's room, so idk if I'm supposed to assume it's Ashura who wrote it, or if Reth just like. used his recipe card as a bookmark in a book Ashura ended up picking up.
(i'm leaning towards saying it's Reth cause 1) it's soup and 2) the recipes from the Daiya boys, or the other NPCs who have recipes, all have more personalized recipes. Hodari's and Najuma's both mention Najuma's mom, Auni's and Badruu's mentions Delaila, etc; the recipe in Ashura's room doesn't have any of that)
There's a similar problem with the recipe associate with Hekla, on the one hand it's in more in character of her to have recipes (especially one involving mushrooms) since she keeps Jina fed, on the other hand again it's soup, and also as a Galdur, she probably stores the recipe in her runeworkings rather than on paper.
The one recipe out in the wild with no clear author that I didn't assume was from Reth is the one in the Daiya household, cause it's not soup for once, and also cause Delaila is the secondary cook of Kilima + each of the boys has a recipe (Badruu is trying to replicate one of Delaila's family recipes, Auni is making snacks, and Nai'o is making breakfast) so it's not like recipes are out of place in the Daiya household.
oh wait there's also the one in Einar's cave. Again, it's not soup, it's fish, which is probably why i just assumed it was from Einar or an old (mortal) friend who could eat stuff, but Reth does actually have way more than just soup, so it's a little ambiguous.

okay back on my palia blog for the first time in forever!! since i got back into the game recently, i have obviously been looking into fan content, and i decided i wanted to see some Statistics of which characters are getting the most love. so, i present: A Spreadsheet of Palia Character/Player Fics On AO3 🤓
some notes on my Scientific Method and findings:
• i only counted fics tagged as [Character name]/Player Character, meaning any fics that are technically character/player but their author only tagged [Character name]/Original Character or something to that effect were left out
• i also broke down the fics by rating just out of curiosity. ignoring the ones where the sample size is only 1 or 2 fics, Tamala has the highest proportion of E-rated fics at 72%. not that her total sample size of 11 is the best, but considering the ones around her tend to fall more in line with the others (generally around 30-40% E-rated) i think it still says something. on the other side of things, Tish has the lowest proportion of E-rated fics as the only one with percentage in the 20s. Fs in chat for Tish stans (me)
• a heart by a character's name indicates that they are a romanceable character. unsurprisingly, the top spots are dominated by romanceable characters. the only romanceable character with 0 xPlayer fics is Subira (although this is pretty much due to the restriction of only counting fics specifically tagged with /player character, as she does have two fics with /original characters. not much, but it's something)
• other characters with no xPlayer fics include Badruu, Delaila, Hekla, and the Gardener; understandably, Auni, Najuma, Ulfe, and Tau also have none (i was scared to check them lmao)
• overall, it's pretty much just about what i was expecting. male characters in the lead with Reth at the very tip top. i did think Hassian would edge out over Hodari though, mainly cuz i feel like i've seen more fanart of him. maybe dilf hunters are just more into written content? not that 7 fics is a big difference but still
• special shoutout to whoever wrote the single Kenli/Player fic, which is also smut, and the only thing that person has ever posted. i cannot fathom your mind but i deeply respect it

Stations: Mixing, Stove, Oven
Grind sweetleaf, ginger, and lotus. Add one of each to boiling water pot on stove.
Mix flour, butter, egg, 1x ground ginger, 1x ground sweetleaf to make ginger snap dough.
Bake in oven.
It's done tadah very cute!!
Chai with Kopaa Biscotti

Grind spice sprouts, dari clove, sweet leaf, ginger, nuts at mixing station.... this is probably too many steps. Idk. Grind some amount listen just work with me here.
Add ground sweetleaf, spice sprout, dari gloves, ginger to milk on stove station.
Mix kopaa nuts, flour, egg, and butter at mixing station to make biscotti dough. Bake in oven.
Take baked biscotti out of oven, chop at prep station, put into oven again... this is too many steps for most people but not for me. For the sake of being cute, okay. Stay strong.
Maybe instead it should just be the kopaa biscotti by itself. Hmmm...

Jel in swim…wear? beachwear! he is NOT getting his clothes wet with saltwater
i knew pretty much immediately that i wanted him more covered up than the others, so i leaned into a vintage swimwear style. the sleeveless turtleneck is a combo reference to his ribbed white undershirt + black waistcoat. i know ribbed fabric isn't exactly standard swim/beachwear material but fashion comes first with him. i also had to give him a parasol because … have you seen him?
I've seen people say Reth should get his own restaurant, and it could be really cool !
But I love what he brings to Ashura's inn, I can't imagine anyone else cooking in its kitchen !
And maybe I'm wrong but, I don't think this is an obstacle to his progress and accomplishment.
