I love all my main characters equally. *closes closet door to hide the shrine to one character in particular*
The upside to the adhd forgetting that you made yourself a drink thing is thinking to yourself “man I could go for a drink right now” and looking to your right and seeing a drink has appeared there. Thank you, past me. I lost you somewhere but you have still provided.
I run into people on the internet who seem to assume that everyone secretly wants to live a rural life as a farmer and at a certain point I’m like okay man if you believe that so hard why aren’t you getting a degree in agriculture or something?
Or are you just staring at solar punk and cottage core drawings and yearning after a reality that will never exist
Come on bitch, get into plant biology. Study supply chains. Start shoveling cow poop. Spend all day trying to figure out what’s eating your tomatoes. Make the reality you want for yourself.
Study the science of agriculture. Spray some chemicals. Release the ladybugs. Come on now.
Like seriously there’s organic farming communes out there you could join. One of my cousins lives that life.
I’m serious. Do you actually want that life? Like actually? Picking spinach out in the sun? Living communally? If you actually want that there’s ways for you to do it.
I know I don’t want that because I’ve grown my own food before. But if you want it there’s not much stopping you. You could drop your current life plans and go back to school for agriculture anytime you want.
Hey, I don't know who needs to hear this, but an author being autistic is not a shield, nor an (ableist!) excuse, for being racist, transphobic, misogynistic, and publishing a book filled to the brim with these things.
By claiming a white author is simply "sheltered and autistic" to shield them from criticism for racism and more, you are not only demonstrating White Fragility, you are actively being ableist by equating autstic people as being incapable of learning to.... not be racist or bigoted.
Especially because, you know...
Black autistic people exist?
Autistic trans women exist?
Fat autistic people exist?
Autistic intersex people exist?
Autistic women exist?
And all of these people experience the bigotries in this book, and are all equally capable of *not* being bigoted?
And equally, that autism does not mean someone is inherently bigoted?? ? And insisting that all autistic people *must* be incapable of unlearning bigotry (which is what you are inherently doing, when you try to shield someone from criticism by saying "well you can't blame them, they're autistic")
If someone is autistic and racist, it's not because they're autistic.
It's because they are racist, and refuse to unlearn their racism.
Stop using "the author is autistic" to shield that author from critique on their racism.
Autism is not a shield against critique, and using it as such is inherently ableist.
You are literally infantilizing people, and yourself, if you do this.
If you fuck up and do something racist, and say you can't be held responsible because you are autistic, congrats! You're both racist *and* ableist and no one should trust you to do better, let alone buy your books :)
tumblr is great bc its like a diary where I can take other peoples diary entries and glue them into my own diary
guys. Guys please you're allowed to say big boy words. please we cannot keep just rolling with the sanitization of every space on the internet ok. you're allowed to say suicide. you're allowed to say porn. they're not bad words, they're just words.
also by ''censoring'' the words with silly spellings you're actually making it much harder for people to filter out. please just say Sex you don't have to call it woohoo like it's the fucking sims. i promise the Word Police aren't going to arrest you
another heavy handed symbolism moment: my mom has a potted sunflower in the kitchen. because it is a sunflower, it keeps turning towards the light from the window. my mother keeps rotating it so it faces inward because she wants "to see its beautiful petals and have it really brighten up the space!" . the sunflower is visibly wilting .
are you going to tell her or
her masters degree is in biology
"I can't believe humans would hunt the thylacine to extinction, humans are fundamentally evil" Hey, did you know that extinction was long thought to be impossible, and within 50 years of humans realizing that extinction via overhunting was a possibility it practically stopped happening? Did you know that humans are so desperate to prevent more losses that they're funneling millions of collective hours and billions of euros into helping other species? Hours and euros that could be spent on humans, and species on whom humanity's own survival does not depend? Did you know that due to an accidental introduction of rats, the Lord Howe Island stick insect population was brought down to 24 individuals and now there are tens of thousands of them?
This bug. This bug that, to most humans, is utterly useless, relatively gross, and completely foreign. Humans saved it because humans do not want to cause another extinction ever again if they can avoid it.
Why would he do this?

Have you ever gotten an exact match?
if by "exact match" you mean "100% of the letters in this post match 100% of an organism's entire genome," then the chances of that happening by pure accident are so ridiculously small, you'd have better odds buying 100 lottery tickets and winning all of them!
one of the cool reasons this blog works in any capacity is because genomes are so ridiculously big that the chances of a random string of letters accidentally matching part of one is very high. the human genome is ~3,200,000,000 base pairs (or "letters") long. that's about 1,000 times the length of the entire bible. pretty long for a tumblr post!
but even in the case of the smallest possible genomes, such as bacterial endosymbionts (famous for having tiny genomes) with only 100,000 base pairs, it'd still be practically impossible. you'd need to accidentally type the letters a, t, c, and g in the correct sequence 100,000 times to get a perfect match. imagine flipping 100,000 coins and getting heads on all of them. ok now imagine a cat named big boobs
