@dandylittletoad
wonder if someone has written academic text on folk horror from an indigenous perspective
not written from an indigenous perspective per s but i really liked this article (‘It’s All an Indian Burial Ground’: Folk Horror Cinema’s Reckoning with Colonial Violence)
you may have found this before, although i didn't see anyone mention it in the notes, but a glossary of haunting by eve tuck and c. ree is available for free, a piece by two indigenous scholars about american horror and colonization. i have come back to it frequently since the first time i read it.
went to columbus, indiana and recreated this scene :) thankful for this city and its singular beauty
Literally though
All of the annoying people saying Ryan Gosling is too old to play Ken clearly haven’t seen his work. This man is absolutely perfect for the role. He possesses a level of satirical humor that can really only be explained by watching the Nice Guys and an interview compilation of his dry ass sense of humor. You guys need to trust Greta..
i bought a shirt from goodwill and the older lady checking me out was repeatedly congratulating me on my purchase… she said stuff like “ooh, this is a good find” and “most kids your age wouldn’t have the sense to look for stuff like this,” and i will admit that i DID feel like a god in that moment
Boundaries are important. But our relationships require a touch more compassion than some online blueprints offer.
such an interesting read… as mental health discussion becomes more mainstream, it’s worth pondering what parts of “therapy-speak” are being applied within the context they were designed to be utilized, and what parts are being co-opted to center one’s personal needs over anyone else’s.
the women in my bluetooth headphones sounds mad at me :(
sometimes i think about the book tuck everlasting and how kindly it conveys its themes to its target audience. and how death is not villainized but considered to be the gentle close to a life well-lived. and how i read it as a kid and felt okay with the reality of mortality for the first time. good stuff

you ever find a piece of clothing and feel like you just stumbled upon an essential bit of your character design
Fan art I drew of dobby dying in a glue trap
“honey i fucking hate our pretentious nerd son”
Everyone else go home these are the only takes that matter
gotham is exactly the right amounts of wet and socioeconomically unstable to have spawned an INSANE grunge scene you just know their local shit is like the sonic equivalent of getting hit over the head with a car battery
lol i hate today’s era of absolutely zero nuance takes. a friend didn’t behave exactly as you’d wanted them to? cut them off. a guy didn’t text you back instantly bc he has his own life? he’s just giving you breadcrumbs. doing something makes you uncomfortable? don’t do it anymore. someone isn’t instantly available for you? disinterest. just absolutist statements that often don’t apply to the multilayer situations of everyday life. like. stop. literally just stop it
