Augmented Interfaces
Two proof of concept projects from the @mit Fluid Interfaces Group demonstrate how we could potentially control objects with augmented reality interfaces using smartphone-powered VR tech.
Invisibilia
Invisibilia seeks to explore the use of Augmented Reality (AR), Head Mounted Displays (HMD) and depth cameras to create a system that makes invisible data from our environment visible, combining widely accessible hardware to visualize layers of information on top of the physical world. Using our implemented prototype, the user can visualize, interact and modify properties of sound waves in real time by using intuitive hand gestures. As such the system supports experiential learning about certain physics phenomena through observation and hands-on experimentation.

RemotIO
Remot-IO is a system for mobile collaboration and remote assistance around Internet connected devices. The system uses two Head Mounted Displays, cameras and depth sensors to enable a remote expert to be immersed in a local user’s point of view and control devices in that user’s environment. The remote expert can provide guidance through the use of hand gestures that appear in real-time in the local user’s field of view as superimposed 3D hands. In addition, the remote expert is able to operate devices in the novice’s environment and bring about physical changes by using the same hand gestures the novice would use.

Steven Walden and Qaalfa Dibeehi of customer experience consultancy Beyond Philosophy on why failing to track measures of emotion could lead firms to make the wrong decisions.
Emotional wellbeing is not the absence of emotions, but it is your ability to understand the value of your emotions and use them to move your life forward in positive directions.

An interesting talk about stress. Is “stress” really as negative as we think? Can it has the same effect like concentration?
Maybe there is some misunderstanding we have about our emotions. And maybe we can transfer “stress” to “energy” and “strength”.
Motivation factors - why we do what we do
Dan Pink:
ROWE - Results Only Works Enviroment People don’t have schedules, as long as they get the work done - Productivity, worker engagement, worker satisfaction goes up; turnover goes down.
Autonomy, mastery and purpose are the building blocks of a new way of doting things
Intrinsic motivations VS. extrinsic motivations
“The secret of to high performance isn’t rewards and punishments, but that unseen intrinsic drive, the drive to do things for their own sake. The drive to do things cause they matter. “
Dan Ariely
“What motivates us to work? Contrary to conventional wisdom, it isn't just money. But it's not exactly joy either. It seems that most of us thrive by making constant progress and feeling a sense of purpose.”
Positiv motivation - “IKEA effect- getting people work harder.” “We care about the challenge.”
Negative motivation - “We don’t like to be ignored.” “We like to show our results.”
Tony Robbins:
“I believe the invisible force of internal drive, emotional is the force of life. ” “We don’t really do things for self interest when emotion comes into it. The science of achievement. The art of fulfillment

The future of well-being
In this semester we will be working with one project- The future of well-being.
The final result should present a solution/ idea for the future wellness by a physical product or service with its own branding and graficl profile.
I started the idea about working on mental health for younger, especially who travelling a lot and are away from theirs family. This started with my personal experience and the people around me, I was really interested in how to find safety and calm when you are alone.
But after several research and interviews I realised that those mental issues was actually not worse for the group I took- international students, as long as they are motivated at school and are clear about their own goals. And my experience as a design student tells me that I can be affected by my own emotions when i work, which results straight to my product. So I’m thinking, to get more positive feelings when you study/ work is really important when emotions affects the results. And maybe we should be more professional to our feelings?
(inspiration from book “Emotional Design” by Donald Norman)
So I decided my target group will be students and youg employees, start with who have background from design or other creative subjects. And my concept is:
How to get more motivation at school/ work by a better control of your own emotions.
Research - Mental helse - Litteratur
“Mental health is a state of well-being in which an individual realises his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and is able to make a contribution to his or her community. In this positive sense, mental health is the foundation for individual well-being and the effective functioning of a community.” WHO
“By 2030, depresion will be number one cause of disablity, outranking ischemic heart disease and diabetes.”
“It is incumbent upon the design industry to positively contribute to the built environment of health facilities and to maximise the restorative powers of place and space more generally.”
Look, we really can’t keep this a secret any longer. Our hearts are bursting at the seams with eternal love and lust for this master of his craft - Andrew B. Myers. Phew, much better now that’s out in the open.
How can one look past such gorgeous pastels and sentimental subject matter. Twister, VHS tapes, toys and other ephemera that we can recall from childhoods long gone. It tugs at the heart strings and makes the eyeballs happy with aesthetic goodness.
Follow Andrew on Tumblr and suss out more beautiful work on his website.
So this is the last week with our final project- inventing an interactive product.
I’ve spend last week to test out technical possibilities, of shadow playing. I feel that my concept has a big potential, so I need to decide which specific context I want to show in this task.
I start the idea...

The Grid
In-development blogging platform uses AI to automatically design your website, automatically rearranging your blogs design around the content you add to it - video embedded below:
This is not another do-it-yourself website builder. The Grid harnesses the power of artificial intelligence to take everything you throw at it - videos, images, text, urls and more - and automatically shape them into a custom website unique to you. As your needs grow, it evolves with you, effortlessly adapting to your needs. Want to add e-commerce? Social feeds? A different layout? The Grid just takes care of it. This is not a website builder. This is your personal AI web developer. Its first masterpiece is the website you’re looking at right now. Its next one could be yours.
Aiming for a Spring 2015 release, the service will charge for a yearly subscription, but claims that any of the data generated will belong to you.

Gesture-Gesture
Installation by Pablo Gnecco lets viewers record their hand gestures to produce a projected animated collage - video embedded below:
Gesture-Gesture explores the visual language created with our hands. Every person that wants to participate in the gesture archiving process must wear the sleeves to create a visual equilibrium. Insert their hands into the box and leave a gesture. After one second of presence the custom software will capture three seconds and create a .gif. When a new gesture is added the oldest is removed from display but archived in a data folder. During the exhibition the gestures will also be archived on the internet. Gesture-Gesture is a new interactive project for FOREWARD, a group show in Atlanta’s new municipal gallery- Gallery 72, The program was built in openFrameworks by Dan Moore.
More about the project can be found here
There is also a dedicated Tumblr blog which features collections of GIFs captured at the installation, which you can find here
