I just listened to the song, "Where is the Justice" from the Death Note musical as you mentioned that it's matches her motives, and I CAN SEE IT SO CLEARLY! Mainly for two reasons:
1 - The lyrics and I can see her being a fan of Death Note and blasting this song in her room after school, much to Tsurugi's annoyance.
2 - I have heard, (though I am pulling from memory so take this with a grain of salt) that the main inspiration for Tsurugi's character is Light Yagami if he didn't get the Death Note. (I belive the video I heard this from was on YouTube called, "Tsurugi Kinjo - Danganronpa Another's Greatest Hypocrite") So both the father and daughter having parallels to Death Note is just the icing on the cake!

Since your okay with people talking about their ocs, I'll take this opportunity to share mine for the first time! Also, small warning, I have only see playthroughs of both games so far, so this might be ooc.
I'll draw her one of these days and give her a name but I have a dra fankid of sorts, she's kinda a Tsurugi and Shobai fanchild but their not together in this au. Let me explain, she's biology Tsurugi's daughter and was raised by him in her early childhood which instilled a strong sense of justice in her at a young age. But unfortunately she got kidnapped by a criminal organization as she is the daughter of the Ult Cop who shut them down. She was able to escape as Tsurugi taught her some self defense but she was still lost on the streets, far from home. After surviving for a while, she runs into Shobai and he took pity on her as her situation was simular to his when he was young, so he took her under her wing. Overtime, she'd help Shobai with his work, but would somewhat maintain her sense of justice by disengage in certain things and even discreetly getting the leaders of those things caught and arrested. But the two of them would eventually be pushed in a corner by the police and she'd help Shobai escape before getting caught, with none other than her father being the one to find her. Now reunited with Tsurugi, she was happy at first but her upbringing clashed with Tsurugi's very black and white view, creating a wedge between them. He'd be a bit strict on her as she still has the tendency to resort to vigilantism/illegal methods to achieve justice when the systems and laws in place fail. This also causes them to fight a bit over how her methods of vigilantism/illegal activities to achieve justice (the illegal stuff taught to her by Sobai) is wrong, as it's illegal, meanwhile she'd argue it's the right thing to do as there are many flaws in the system and these methods fix them. Additional, another controversial topic being Shobai himself, afterall, he is a criminal and would be talked poorly by Tsurugi but she'd still defend him for the most part as he was like a second father to her, even though some of his actions are hard to defend.
But despite the family's differences, she still cares about her dad and what she thinks, so she'd also pursue a career in law/government but fall back on vigilantism when the law fails at night. This eventually earns her the title of Ultimate Vigilante by Hope's Peak.... but she definitely lied to her dad and said she was accepted as the Ultimate Cop like him or something simular.
Side note, her physical features are fully Tsurugi's, BUT her mannerisms and hair are heavily influenced by Shobai, with a lot of her sprites being the same as him, her appearance off duty looking the simular as his (like loose hair, unbuttoned, mesy collar), and her dyeing her hair the same color as his (explained away to Tsurugi that it's just a cool color teens like, and totally not because it's the same as Shobai's). Her sprites would also fluctuate depending on the situation, like daylight, around her dad or press, at work, it'll be more like Tsurugi's. Meanwhile, nighttime, off-duty, working as a vigilante, or around friends or Shobai, her sprites will be more like Shobai's.

I love this concept! I imagine your oc has a lot of inner turmoil with clashing paternal figures. I wonder if the Tsurugi that found them was post-DRA Tsurugi or a nondespair/preDRA Tsurugi, cause I think his time with the class, and seeing Yamatoās close relationship with Mikako, would make him less pushy towards her vigilantism. (But post killing game heād probably turn controlling over her, not wanting to lose another family member)
This sounds like such a fun dynamic between trashimoto and Tsurugi though. Reminds me of a strict mom vs laidback dad, but like divorced edition (can relate)
The OCās motivations reminds me of Whereās the Justice from the Death Note musical. Would recommend!

Since you're pretty chill on fan characters that mix with canon characters and storyline, how do you feel about fankids then? Just curious.
Hell yeah! I love seeing fankid designs and how both parents characteristics are apparent. Danganronpa characters are iconic for the unique outfits and talents, so itās nice to see fan kids that arenāt just one parentās features and the other parentās eyes.
The personalities and lore is always fun to read as well. As much as Iād like to believe that all my faves would be good parents. š

Nothing huge happened, but I think the mundane atmosphere was kinda the point. Setsuka did not have a happy ending, but she managed to escape her boring life at least in the end.

This felt like something out of a Criminal Minds episode. Itās amazing how Syobai was able to clock what was off about Kanade, but wasnāt sure what it was. This story was great because it didnāt nerf either Syobai or Kanade for the sake of plot, and still kept up suspense and twists.
I love that Syobai is observant and quick to find her exploitation, and uses it to tell her about the Neo World Program. Iām not suprised that Kanade agreed to it, but we canāt know if she went in thinking that she had her memories and got backstabbed or not.
I like to think that Syobai told her about the killing game, and she allowed him to take her and her sister, knowing she would lose her memory because as she says, she feels a kind of emptiness in her life. Kanade wants Hibiki to trauma max, but admits that she feels emptiness at achieving everything. In the killing game, She gets to relive Hibikiās trauma and her dollification.
It also isnāt until like chapter 4 where Syobai regains his memories, so itās fair that he doesnāt remember her. Idk I saw some ppl debating about that.
IF BAD ENDING:
Bro they ended Japan in a single day Mikado/Sora was not playing wow
I love what Linuj did with Syobai here. He doesnāt let himself regret things, but he does miss Sora. Deep down, heās kinda just succumbed to his fate, and laughs at the end knowing he absolutely brought this on himself..,

Mikado (ima still call him that) is right about the human factor, and how we as a species act irrationally and go against our own instincts. I imagine itās fascinating for a former AI. Love when creators tackle this concept.

We canāt know if that was really Kisaragi talking, but I love how he kinda regrets what he said to Kinjo at the end of DRA, and how his words shaped Tsurugi lowkey becoming worse lol
Theyāre definitely alluding to Tsurugiās death, with him going to āwhere everyone else isā, and finally going on the trip to somewhere peaceful (Nikeiās mom would approve)
Also the severing the final bond?? I imagine itās him letting go of Yuki. In the bad ending in SDRA2, Tsurugi has nightmares of someone screaming, so I think itās confirmed that it was Yuki. Itās clear that a part of him still wishes for Maeda back but canāt ignore the illusion. Itās absolutely tragic.
Iām sad to say it, but I think this story is alluding to the SDRA2 finaleās āgrand event that shakes the Kisaragi Foundationā to be Tsurugiās death. š¢

ITS SO FITTINGā¦
I love the idea of his father being a falsely accused corrupt politician (Heās implied to have still done bad things to get his position, so heās kinda corrupt?)
It reminds me of Kiyotaka Ishimaruās backstory from THH (I used to simp for him so hard bruh)
Iām not sure if itās intentional, but Nikei using his fatherās shame and disappearance to be just like him, vs Taka using his grandfatherās shame to be a better, non-genius person is such an interesting difference between the characters (Also Taka always being genuine and Nikei always hiding)
Thereās also the convo between Void. We have been DYING for pregame content with them for ages. I specifically like to see Emma and Nikei, as they were the biggest pretenders.
Hajime is still a good guy, and Iroha is the same as she was in the game, but Emma was a lot more blunt here. Nikei didnāt hesitate to call them his subordinates and order them around.
Nikeiās backstory was definitely tragic, but he actually made a name for himself without divine luck (but needed it for fame and success) really showing his drive to be on top. Ironic then that he ended up at the bottom of a building.
ALSO CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW THIS PUTS A NEW LIGHT ON HIS EXECUTION??

Thereās a shot of Nikei seeing the exit door.
Then, a monocrow dressed identical to him (might be over analyzing here) tries to question him, but Nikei disappears from the room, and runs off to the roof.
The monocrows eventually find him though and crush him as he falls off the roof. SO YOU COULD SAY THAT HE WAS TRAMPLED BY THOSE BENEATH HIM.
So, after everything, Nikei died at the bottom of a building, nowhere like a king š

online communities are so strange because people slip away so easily. you can be on here for years, folding people you've never met into the fabric of your daily life, and then they disappear, leaving only ghost posts scattered across tumblr behind. or their blog stays dormant, for weeks, months, years, until you're only still following them because you remember that they love sunflowers or they were kind to you when they didn't have to be or the last thing they posted was sad and raw and you still worry about them sometimes.
and sometimes they come back when you least expect it, years later, even, and there's this sudden rush of relief like there you are, there you are, even though you barely knew each other.
there's a strange kind of love to it. i don't know you and i want to hold your hand across miles and time zones and oceans. i can still see the imprint of you in this community you left. you don't think anyone will notice or care when you're gone, but we notice and we care and we wish you well.

Out of curiosity, how do you feel about danganronpa ocs that intertwine with canon? For instance, there is this one well written oc named Saki by Eggy (@Eggydgrp) on YouTube who has interesting lore that shows her backstory from before the danganronpa series starts to post game development and beyond.
Considering Iāve written two reader inserts for DRA and V3 that focus on canon divergence, itād be pretty hypocritical to say anything against it lol
Whether someone is making their own fangame or oc insert in a canon game, Iām completely for it! š
itās interesting to see how creators tackle how the character would impact the plot, what relationships they have with others, etc. The only thing to watch out for is intentionally putting down other characters without reason just to make the oc look better.
The way I see it, Ocs are however you make them :)
As for the sharing of the oc in canon, an audience is flexible with changing canon storylines and even killing canon characters, but a canon character should stay in character unless given a fair reason to change or develop
Anywho, sorry for yappin there. I checked out the channel, and BOY do I envy this artwork! Saki really does feel like a character that could be added to SDR2. Love her relationship with Hajime!

Iām not sure if this counts, as it was a small quote I came up with for an original series Iām working on. Just a random piece of dialogue for a possible heartfelt moment.
For the last sentence I wrote for an imagine, in total contrast:
