“An explicit threat on my life.” She said, tilting her head. “Me? A Russian immigrant with a tenuous grasp of the Italian Language?”
“With your tenuous grasp on the language, are you certain that you knew wat they were saying?”

“I’ll have to look into it then…How are you doing today?”
“I’m doing well thank you. And yourself aside from the sleepless nights?”
johan-lieberttir
“No, I haven’t. Are those really useful?”
“It helps to relax some people.”
johan-lieberttir:
“It’s really time I start to get my sleeping schedule right. I’m all over the place.”
“Have you tried a nightcap?”
“…I’m not too concerned about that. I can help you, sure—just give me five minutes and you’ll have a name and location.” The hacker was well aware that it was too late to play a game of ignorance. She knew who he was, or at least what he did, and he was not about to waste both their time. Quentin also refrained from stating the many ways he could remain off the police radar, with or without this particular officer’s help. Better for her to believe she had the upper hand throughout the process, just in case he needed to make himself scarce at any moment’s notice.

Danique’s eyes widened slightly for only a moment. She had never expected him to willingly cooperate with her, much less give her the information she asked for. “Thank you.” No threats, no empty promises, no arrests: it was refreshing. If she did not know better, she would think him noble. Hell, she would even offer him a position working for the police. She had backups of most the files that can be deleted. She needed to know who knew what and who was in her system. “I don’t suppose that there is a security measure that you could recommend?” It was risky as he might know the backdoor into the system should she take his advise, but someone already was in.
“Oh please. You act as if I’m not angry at the crooked cops in your division as well. Believe me, they don’t help anyone around here, I can assure you. Besides, I could never afford to grease the pockets of anyone at the department - so I can’t imagine what you’re telling me this for. I got out on good behavior. At least.. that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.”
“I meant take note, not mimic completely. We’re all capable of free will here, darling, that’s a given. But no, of course not. I was simply… curious myself. Sometimes a nice chat is all you need to accomplish things in life…”
“The amount of crime in this city contaminates the very air, yet there is only so much a person can do. Without being able to completely eradicate the root of the problem, there is little chance of being able to ever truly contain this blight upon Rome. Of course you did.”
“Your charms never worked on me before, you needn’t continue trying. Curiosity? Is that what we are calling it now? What do you wish to accomplish with the nice chat?”
“Law states: If the threat involves deadly or significant force, then deadly or significant force to counteract the threat.” Laika said. “The individuals aren’t the problem. It’s the entire system.”
“And what exactly did they do to you that constitutes deadly or significant force?” Danique didn’t want to believe that people in her department could be corrupted to that level, but she knew that it was true. She had lost some of her righteousness from the taint of this city. “Then you should try to change it legally instead of starting fights.”
Clark ran his tongue over his bottom lip as he watched Danique, particularly when she made that little moan of satisfaction. He hoped to hear more of those later. Crossing one leg over the other, Clark made sure his entire focus was on her. He found that women enjoyed that a lot, and it was good to hear that she lived alone. He smiled.
“Okay, good. You live alone.” He nodded. “It’s a great vintage, one of my favourites, actually.” Clark took a sip of his wine. “I’d like to know a lot of things. You might think that I just take anyone home with me and open an expensive bottle of wine to get into their pants, but I like to get to know the person too. Where did you grow up? Was your childhood good?”
“Is that why you have the vintage on hand?” Dani knew few people who would have such a thing in their kitchen without plan. Certainly there are those who had wine readily available, but usually not something of this caliber to share with someone whom they had only just met. “It is nice to know that you want to know a bit about each of your conquests.” Not that she thought he would seek her out again should she do as he wished.
She raised her eyebrow, studying the man. He seemed so focused and confident as if he already had the outcome of this night planned for certain. “You will likely be bored speaking of me. My life is rather dull. I had a pleasant childhood with two loving parents. To answer your other question, I was born and raised in the Netherlands.”
“Well that’s odd, considering I don’t believe I’ve been doing anything.. illegal. Though then again… these laws do just keep changing every five minutes it seems. ..Though really, I still have reason to believe the lot of you are just profiling.. With all due respect though, ma’am, I’ll even say it again for you and the rest of the crew, just because my last name’s Sorrentino doesn’t mean I break the law. Seriously, so annoying… “
“Resent my dear… Roma’s citizens would be lucky to have a model citizen like myself. …Doubt Mr. Holmes would know, or care, but fine. I’m not up to anything… Just idle chatter about hypothetical’s is all.”
“The fact that you are not in jail hardly proves your innocence. As much as I am loathed to admit it, there are those in the department who have a habit of allowing their wallets to weigh more upon their decisions than their conscience. In regards to your claim of profiling, we are vigilant of those whom have ties to the criminal community.”
“I am sure that Rome’s citizens would do well to be more like themselves. We needn’t fill the streets with any person of the same kind. I suppose that your hypothetical question also was for a friend.”
“You want me to do what?”
“I want you to tell me who erased my files. I know you know. I could make sure that you are removed as a suspect for your cooperation.”
“Well, yeah. I mean, obviously it was new to you. You are welcome.” Maggie winked playfully.
“Okay, let’s say that you did educate me. What is the point of knowing about the condition?”
“Well, it is technically self-defence.” She glared. “The police of this town don’t uphold the law. They take cuts of drug sales, and lay sex workers.”
“That does not matter. Self-defense only counts when you are the one who was injured first. If you have a problem with an officer, you report them; you do not take the law into your own hands.”

“Because you never seemed too keen to talk before. Then again, last time I asked was while you were arresting me, but really that’s all I have to go off of.”
“The scum? Darling, that’s hurtful. We’re not all bad. I mean, hypothetically, you turning a blind eye just… gives you all the time you’d want to finish this …great book you’ve got here. I’m sure you could easily get absorbed in the plot and lose sight of anything else, yes..?”
“You do something illegal, and I arrest you Angelo. There is nothing personal about it. I will talk to you, but it seems as if you always are busying yourself with less than upstanding circumstances.”
“Are you upset because you resent or represent that remark? I’m not turning a blind eye just to finish the book. Even if he is fictional, Mr. Holmes would object to being an accessory to a crime. What are you up to this time?”
“Whatever. Consider it my good deed for the week.” Maggie shrugged, tucking hands into the pocket of her super plush hoodie.
“What educating me on resting bitch face?”
“Modesty has always been one of my strengths,” Clark replied with a grin. He was anything but, proud and confident of himself in every way. He oozed confidence, and it was something that a lot of people (he found from experience) found attractive. That, of course, only fuelled his ego.
“Thank you,” he nodded. “I try my best. If you take somebody back to your place and it’s a mess and it’s shit, they’re not going to want to stay are they?” There was really nothing of personal importance to Clark in his place apart from a few photos dotted around of Zak. Everything else he really couldn’t care less about. “So tell me about you,” he said. “Do you live alone?”
“Oh I could tell.” Dani chuckled, taking a sip of the wine. She closed her eyes, letting out a quiet moan as she savored the taste. “This is a good vintage.” She knew that he probably wanted more than a bit of company, but Dani had yet to decide if she would give it to him. She didn’t want to lead the man on, and it had been quite a while since she had some fun of her own. “I certainly agree. The state of someone’s home is an outward representation of themselves.” She leaned back against the couch, swirling her glass. “What is it that you wanted to know?” There were obviously things that she could not tell the man, but he had earned the right to know more about her providing he asked the right questions. “I do live alone.”
“As.. exciting as that sounds… I think I’ll just hold on to it for a bit.. Give us a chance to talk, perhaps.”
“Hypothetically, is there any way you’d be willing to… oh, I don’t know… Turn a blind eye to a few… rather minor things that may or may not be breaking certain laws… Hypothetically, of course.”
“Charming. You couldn’t just ask to talk because...?”
“Realistically that would make me no better than the scum polluting the street. I would need a damn good reason to not see something, and I sincerely doubt that you can hypothetically come up with one.”
