Be told by society that you must provide your children with X to be a proper parent.

Shit on societal norms to be actual good to your kids and not just a copy paste parent (Bandit is the best dad and an inspiration to us all).

Finally buy house, to give your kids a garden to play around with growing food for fun and joy for all of us.

Society: that's a nice house you got, as we told you to, so how about we increase interest on it by 200% in 4 months, just to make it interesting?

Me, looking at greedy rich people and companies causing uncontrolled inflation, making my interest rate to blow the fuck up: the fuck? What about those cunts??

Society: nopes! YOU must pay for their mistakes! Now enjoy some financial dread!

So the other day I had a delightful elderly gentleman visiting the store to buy a tea-christmas calender for his daughter.

He was almost apologetic about not drinking lose-leaf tea himself, but cheap tea bags from a supermarket and I found myself ready to burn down any high-brow, limp leek of a washed-out would-be intellectual trying to gatekeep tea.

Doesnt matter if it's cheap bags of low quality tea or lose leaves in the ranges of 10-15 dollers per 100 grams, if you enjoy YOUR tea, it's GOOD tea!

"I only have two kinds of problems", I tell my boss as we are packing teas for online orders; "the kind that I can do something about, and the kind I cannot. In either case, I try not to waste energy complaining about them, but deal with them as best I can instead."

"But what about something like being sick, what about something like cancer?" he asks smugly, "you cannot do anything about it, but it is still going to destroy your life."

"My dear boomer" , I quip fondly "I can seek treatment and counsel for something like that. And even though it may not remove the disease, I am actively doing something about it, and so can better spend my energy on that instead of complaining about it."

... Or something like that, I'm not a philosopher, I just peddle dead leaves in small bags...

Every time I see a post from someone venting about how them not having kids is the superior choice, I can't help but think that it sounds like the absolutely perfect choice for that person, because children don't deserve that kind of parents. Go get a hug, you touch-starved beanbag...
