Dave Miller has something plural going on and I can't keep tormenting the same friend about it so I'm making this post. Hello world!
I think Dave is plural; both DID and OSDD can apply to him, but I'm leaning towards DID because Dave doesn't seem to remember a lot of Henry's experiments despite the severity of them -a sign of total dissociative amnesia.
It makes sense for Dave to have developed the disorder, considering he was a homeless orphan for the majority of his childhood which likely provided him with the constant stress and trauma required to form DID.
Now: Dave's soul leaving and repossessing his corpse when he is in a traumatic, near death, situation reads as an allegory for dissociation to me. Dave later seperating into Davetrap and Flipside Dave can be seen as a form of splitting, and Flipside Dave being able to see what Davetrap does without being able to interfere further emphasises this point. When it comes to Flipside Dave, the flipside can also been seen as a headspace for him.
The recent 10 year anniversary post only further solidified this idea for me, with DD reffering to William Afton as a delicate inventor and a 'dead identity' which could be seen as William being dormant, while Dave is the killing-machine party animal he wants to be. Directly calling the two split identities as well.
Additionally, there is a post where DD said Dave waits for Henry to play catch with him outside of the diner, and my headcanon as that this is a little alter considering it doesn't allign with his otherwise "killing-machine party animal" nature.
I think the reason Dave's alters don't show very prominently in game (aside from Davetrap and Flipside Dave being seperate identities) is because he is a similiar environment to the one where Henry experimented on him, and having anyone except Dave front could result in accidentally uncovering traumatic memories or being unable to handle the stress of Freddy's and a body that is decaying. Should Dave ever get out of Freddy's in the context of an au, I think his alters, like William, would front more.
