Dani grimaced at the sight, bird droppings landing perfectly on her shoulder. “Oh god, that is so gross,” she grumbled, digging into her bag for a wipe. As she cleaned off the leather jacket she glanced back up to her audience, “Well, I’m glad its amusing for someone, That doesn’t happen often I don’t think, maybe I should buy a lotto ticket”

And anyway, when it came to fight or flight, Noelle had always thought fight. And in her, that looked like tilting her chin up higher, arching her fine eyebrows, and standing her ground. “Perhaps if you hadn’t been walking so slowly - and in the middle of the sidewalk, no less - I would have been able to get around you.”

Dani gritted her teeth, her eyes narrowing at the other girl. Irritated was an understatement, she was livid, but it wasn’t directed towards the girl that now stood in front of her. Weighing her options she kept her glare steady, her anger radiating. Wanting to let it out physically she considered letting her have it, but, a quick glance around nixed the ease of that plan. Instead, Dani tried to swallow her rage, “Sorry princess, didn’t realize you couldn’t speak unless spoken to. A simple ‘excuse me’, and you could have gone by, or, you know, you could have just walked a but wider around.”

“Do you have a problem or something?” Dani barked, spinning on her heels to face the person walking behind her. “You don’t have a concept of personal space? You were walking so close I could nearly see the back of your fucking head.”

Looking up from her desk with a smile, Sophia eyed the newcomer as she rummaged papers to try and make her desk look a little tidier. “Can I help you?”

“Yeah, just a couple questions,” Dani mumbled, moving forward to plop herself down, “What are the like, rates here, for a defense? Also, is it good, like really good? And do you have like a booklet of the local laws, like the ones here specially, local regulations and such?”

“Now now Dani dear, that’s just highly unfriendly. Someone has clearly woken up in the wrong bed today.” Addison knew it probably wasn’t the best idea to antagonise her, but she just couldn’t help herself sometimes. “When in doubt, jeans are always the way to go.” 

Dani’s eyes narrowed with the response, and she tilted her eyes to the side, glaring at the other, “Who ever said I was interested in being friendly?” She sat back up, sighing deeply, “Mhmm yeah sure, when you have them. If you don’t, you just wear what you got, of course a princess like you wouldn’t know about that.”

He was just ducking his head to her neck when he felt her palms against his chest, and he raised his head, grinning wolfishly at her. Fen laughed, his hands coming up to wrap around her wrists like handcuffs, holding them to his chest even as he let himself be shoved backward. The air was thick and syrupy in the club; even with the space between them, it didn’t do much to dissuade the electric tension between them. “Oh, yeah,” he shot back, pressing a kiss to the soft skin on the inside of her wrist before letting them slip from his grip. As she situated herself back against the bar, he let his gaze run over the long line of her body, a slow, gratuitous once-over that he made no effort to hide. “It’s not that I underestimate you,” he said, “I just know that I’m better at this game than you are.” He was tempted to follow her glance back over his shoulder, wondering if maybe Noura had finally come looking for him, but he kept his gaze coolly locked on Dani’s face. “You know, Dani,” he drawled, lips quirking in a smirk, “If you wanted to come with me tonight, you should have just asked. You don’t have to be mean to the girl who did.”

She watched as he moved, her eyes narrowing at his actions. Leaning back she placed her elbows on the edge of the bar, steadying herself. Tilting her head she smirked as he glanced over her, and she held her pose without flinching. “Really? You think you’re better than me at this? Careful babe, cockiness doesn’t suit just anyone,” she rolled her eyes at his next response, settling them back on his, pausing for a moment. Dani wasn’t sure why she was drawn to him, whether it was the atmosphere, booze, the stupid grin on his face, or, maybe it was something else. She gritted her teeth as she considered it, trying to keep her lips form twitching. “I’m always mean,” she broke the silence, “and that doesn’t always mean I’m jealous,” as she spoke she moved back up, pressing herself against his chest as she slid from the stool. “But you know, if you really would prefer her, I’ll oblige,” she spoke lowly into his ear as she slid away from him, starting to slowly drift into the crowd.

“Not to be a buzz kill, but I’m like 95% sure that it’s illegal to wear such a hideous pair of shorts with such great shoes.” Addison said, sliding into the seat opposite them. 

“Not to be a buzzkill but if you comment on my outfit again you might end up with four less teeth,” Dani growled back in response, in reality she knew it wasn’t the best combination, but until she was able to shop again, it was all Dani had. “Besides, what are you even wearing anyway?”

Lily started as the other girl spoke, sitting down so suddenly and break what had been quite a peaceful silent bubble. Her words registered a split second after she felt the cold liquid touch her fingers. “Oh damn.” Lily muttered quick to turn the cone and try and stop the flow, she was so distracted by the ordeal she almost missed the strangers question. “Where did I- Oh. Oh right. Erm there was a man with one of those little cart things? By the park? The playground?” It all came out sounding much more like a question then the blonde had intended.

Dani watched as the other girl took too long to register the remark, and a smirk plastered itself to her lips. She listened as the question was answered, letting out a small chuckle, “Yeah? Sounds like something they would have around here, one of the carts with the little umbrella? Just like a, uh, hallmark card or something.”

She had to admit, despite it’s size and lack of information, Northpoint was really starting to grow on her. There was something calming about the place that made it easy to forget about ones problems and made it oh so easy to people watch. Which she found herself doing, enjoying the rare moment of sunshine with an ice-cream while sat on a bench. It was nice to go unnoticed.

“Careful, it’s about to drip down the other side,” Dani spoke abruptly, her hand gesturing to the cone as she settled on the bench. “I’m liking this place more when it’s not snowing and so fucking cold all the time, you know? Summer’s here must be nice, hey, where did you get that by the way?”

“Too late,” Fen breathed, teasing and taunting. “It’s already gone to my head. There’ll be no living with me now.” As if there really ever had been before. She tasted like alcohol when she kissed, and Fen wasn’t completely sure she didn’t just taste like that all the time. He slid a hand over her neck, fingers brushing her jaw. Fenrin let his teeth close over the swell of her bottom lip, none too gently, only letting go as she drew away from him. He laughed as she spoke, twisting around her body to grab her legs and swing her around on the barstool so that she was facing him properly. He let his hands slide over her thighs as he watched her talk. “Then let me be the one to tell you that you don’t,” he told her, grinning.

“Oh no,” Dani laughed quietly, sarcasm saturating her words, “What ever will I do? Such a tragedy.” She gave herself to the moment, her body drawing closer, following his motions. The sudden act of spinning her earned a sharp gasp, her hands reached out and grabbed on to him, instinctively distrusting if she wouldn’t tip from the stool. “Fen-” she cut her snarky reaction short, glancing back up at him through her lashes, “Oh yeah?” she murmured, using the hands on his chest to push him slightly away, creating distance, “And how do you figure that? I think you underestimate me too much. But,” she glanced behind him, as if looking for his date, “If you want to waste your night with a boring airhead of a girl who am I to stop you?” As if to make her point she leaned back, resting herself against the edge of the bar, smirk twitching, her eyes watching him closely. Dani looked for subtle signs, anything that would tell her which approach he would respond more too, the aggressive or the hard to get. She was itching for a good night, and this game was something to fulfill it.

From Fenrin’s point of view, Dani had always carried her in that way that all self-described Cool Girls aspired to: indifferent but charming, if you could get her to talk to you. But now she felt, in Fen’s arms, loose and malleable in the way that promised of the taste of smoke on her tongue, and maybe something more acrid, below that. “Of course I’m right,” he said with a wink. As her mouth parted around a pretty gasp, he had the urge to catch her lips with his - but Fenrin just smiled, utterly self satisfied and relaxed, even in the midst of the barely controlled chaos that was Banshee. Of course - that was who Fenrin was. Even with five seconds left in overtime, Fen was the one with his racquet strung across his shoulders, grinning and shit-talking, loose limbed and unconcerned. “That’s exactly what I’m gonna do,” he assured her. “Think you’ll survive?” It wouldn’t be the first time he had blood on his hands.

“Hey now, don’t let that all run to your head, you were right once, even the worst get lucky,” she smirked, wiggling her eyebrow in his direction. With the progression of their conversation Dani noticed the roar of the crowd died out to her, her attention moving to be fully focused on him. Dani pulled herself away slightly as he spoke, sipping down a bit more of her newly poured drink. The question make her smirk against the glass, and she tore herself away to plant a much longer kiss, as if making a point. “I’ll survive just fine,” she mumbled against him before pulling back, just enough to look back up at him, “But I’m not quite certain you will, not if I have anything to say about it.”

As her weight shifted back against him, Fen fit himself in even closer, his arm looping more comfortably around her waist, chin dipping to rest on her shoulder; his cheek brushing against hers as he straightened; smirking against her mouth as she kissed him. There and gone just as quickly. Her words made him smile, laugh a bit, and his attention was drawn past her - he watched the lights reflect in the bottles of alcohol, watched the bartenders struggle to keep up. “I don’t blame them. Place like this? It’s better not to ask too many questions.” In the beats that followed, he smiled, more wolf than boy as he brushed his lips over her cheekbone, pressed a bite to the place where her jaw met her neck before dragging his mouth up to her ear. “I can’t go back to my date empty handed.”

Dani wasn’t sure if it was the atmosphere, drugs, or booze she had consumed, but she couldn’t help but relax in the moment, her usual defenses melting away, her need for stimulant, adventure, anything peaking. Her lips tingled for a few brief moments after, as she nodded along to him, “Mmm guess you’re right, yeah.” Her attention was averted back to the drinks, his movements surprising her. She raked her teeth over her bottom lip, before faking a quiet gasp, “Your date?” Dani turned her head back to him, her mouth dancing dangerously close to his, “Is that what you’re doing? You’re going to use me and then just leave me here to drink alone? How rude,” she mumbled lowly.

The press of people around the bar seemed to crowd in even more tightly. Fen braced one hand against the bar next to her and stepped closer until his chest was nearly pressed to her back, the other resting lightly on her waist as he ducked his head down closer to her mouth to hear what she was saying - or try his best to make it out. His eyes lit up as he watched her help herself to the bottle. “There’s my girl,” he yelled, taking the glass she offered up to him. “Cheers!” He took the drink neat, like a shot, and then set it back on the bar, an invitation for her to refill. “I’m going to need another glass, too,” he said as an afterthought.

Dani leaned back into him, also trying to close the gap, the crowded chatter of the place doing them no favors. She stretched up to meet him, glancing back down, “They really don’t watch the liquor here, or maybe they just don’t care,” her eyes darted back up to meet his, before she raked her lips across his, short and not exactly sweet, she turned back to pour the drinks again smirking, her layered buzz seeming to vibrate throughout her body. “Why do you need a second? Fen hun, I know you like to overcompensate, but you know you don’t need to double fist it to prove a point.”

“Huh. Sounds like you’re the girl to go to for firepower, huh?” He paused, and then: “Wait. Does this mean you think my fireworks are underwhelming?”

“I mean, I’m not going to say your right, but I’m certainly not going to say you’re wrong.” Dani shrugged her shoulders, fighting a smirk, “You said it, not me, but if you’re going for something other than the generic vanilla light show they do for dumb things like, animal festivals, you could have done better.”

“To be fair, I sort of blame the state of Maine for letting me buy this many fireworks.”

“True, but you know the best ones you can’t get legally, those are the ones that are truly worth it,” Dani snorted, glancing back over to him, “But, I mean other states you can get better ones without going through such sketchy channels, the south will sell ya pretty much anything, especially South Carolina, practically anything is legal there, if you’re willing to make the trip.”
