Most negative emotions are made unbearable by fear. I believe God says trust Me with your inadequacy.
I think in terms of past, present, and future. I honor life's losses and all the things that did not turn out the way I thought it would. Then I think about the good things and I thank God for that. Then most often I realize I'm okay in the moment, take a breath, and move on.
I'm learning to treat triumph and disaster as the imposters they are and to rely on God. My rumination reminds me to turn to Him.
I don't think there's objective evidence for God, but He does seem to make the most sense when it comes to the fine-tuning needed for life, the ultimate answer to the problem of evil and suffering, and that He is love.
I often refer to the statement Emotions are part of me, not in charge of me.
As I think about telling my story on how God changed my life, there are many things I could say. I sometimes wonder since I've been a Christian my whole life, what I would be like if I was not a Christian. I also wonder what's missing from my spiritual walk? Is it joy? Or is it a closer relationship with the Holy Spirit?
Sin is no longer a dictator when you have Jesus. It is now an indicator that we need Him.
The idea that God calls us to be faithful over being successful, and understanding that failure is part of life can be a relief.
How to disconnect with God:
1. Realize how good God is. If you don't feel that you're already disconnected.
2. Feel like you should do more for Him or be a better person in response.
3. Feel inadequate and burnt out.

I can be such a negative thinker. It can feel like a battle, and I have to admit that caffeine helps! I'm trying to be thankful, and to identify an attribute of God that causes whatever it is I am thankful for. Plus, I'm trying to live moment by moment instead of thinking about my overall struggles.
Feeling financial struggle, and the daily expectations on me at work, tempt me to live in regret. But, if God loves me, I can rest in my trust in Him. The issue may not be the struggle or the challenges before me, but whether or not I can trust that He loves me.
I certainly have failures in my life. I've also had success. God is good to His followers and his unfollowers. Bad things also befall his followers and his unfollowers. The main difference is His followers appreciate Him for the good and turn to Him in the bad.
When the Bible says to speak the truth in love, that also applies to self-talk. It's the only way we can grow from an experience. Not just truth, and not just love. I can't change the things I've lost, but I can show care for my sadness, which at times is confusing.
I'm reading Numbers 11 this morning about God's anger against complaints and greediness. Moses has thoughts of death in this chapter but God said he will not have to carry this alone. "Do you think I can't take care of you?" Both the people and Moses had complained to God, but some people were punished for their greediness. Both the people and Moses were provided for, but God responded differently to the people because of greediness. A pattern of Israel complaining and God responding in anger is seen thereafter. In the context, the Israelites were disdaining God's provision and God himself. I know the context is different, but it makes me feel cautious about complaining to God. I think we can both state how we feel to God and also appreciate what he has given. Like Paul said, he quit focusing on the handicap and started focusing on the gift.
What's amazing to me is the story of Jesus and his resurrection. If it's not true, it's amazing how many people have been deceived.
