hmmm… rotating the idea of sparda returning prior to the fire but in such a state that he’s basically completely incapacitated (unconscious in the second floor bedroom). sparda fambily character study about eva and her husband and the kids and how they feel about the guy they haven’t seen in like three years especially since he’s in his “true” form now & not the human skin and everyone has to be uh, very open about things that kind of went unsaid or implied or just rarely talked about previously. eva… has her husband back but also not really. the fact that something (or somebody) manages to damage him so badly is wigging her out enough the shotgun is now a permanent accessory.
you have your dad back
pros: dad, mom is clearly happy about it
cons: he is some kind of bug. you can kind of distantly remember having seen him as some kind of bug before but in the infinite (bad) wisdom (bad decision) of the ages he kind of quit form shifting so often as you got older and the outright vanished 3 years ago which is a long time when you are currently 8 years old. anyway. some kind of bug. in retrospect this explains several things about you and your brother that you hadn’t put much thought into before, but also, bug. also your mom is now a completely different flavor of nervy and carrying a loaded firearm around.
dante: i don’t WANT to turn into a bug!!!!
vergil, being extremely brave: …bugs can be… cool….
