La Mer (The Sea) No.12
I have been sitting on these pages for a long time, I usually like to post my comics in lots of 8-10 pages per update.. I don’t know when the next update will be coming though, so here’s the latest for Le President. The last lot was here.
I cannot stand leaving things unfinished, so some way or another I will finish this story about Harvey eventually. Will continue to update here on my tumblr if new Conservatorium content comes along.
Thanks for your support everyone, I’m glad you’ve all enjoyed my orchestra comics.

I’ve been scarce the last couple of months due to a lot of freelance work but I had to draw Philip and Harvey tonight because I miss them so much.
Now I’m running behind on other work but it’s worth it. I feel alive again…
This time I have been scarce for a couple of years... I am still around, not working on this but it is still on my mind. Drawing for enjoyment has progressively become harder as time goes by-- I am managing it however I can. Sometimes I ask myself why do i draw, and the usual answer of because it’s what I’ve always done isn’t really working for me anymore. Not promising anything here because I am tired, but just a reminder to myself to keep going and to keep trying to see the lighter side of everything, stop being so burnt out by life itself.
Often i want to sit alone somewhere and just cloudwatch, somewhere quiet without any of the noises and expectations of society, disappear for a while until I’m good and ready again

Rachmaninoff - Trio Elégiaque no.2 in d minor
This is a piece that I heard part of years ago, and have had on my wishlist until I finally caved and bought it. And I’m glad I did. Listening to the rocking and gloomy opening, and the dramatic intensity throughout, noticing how this chamber work is nearly an *hour* long and feels like a chamber symphony, it’s such a shock when you realize this is Op.9. The language may be a bit conservative, but this does not sound like the music of a young man. This feels like a mature and wonderfully constructed piece, much like Cesar Franck’s chamber works. The piano trio is a bit of a tribute to Tchaikovsky, and follows the same structure as Tchaikovsky’s piano trio in a minor. It was written shortly after the great composer’s death, which had to have shaken Rachmaninoff immensely. Tchaikovsky was a great influence to the generations of Russian composers after him, and he helped encourage Rachmaninoff earlier in the later’s career, only to pass away [potentially suicide] after the Symphony “Pathetique”. The trio is heavy and difficult for the pianist, and it opens and closes with a funeral like moderato passage. The middle movement is a set of variations, another nod to Tchaikovsky’s trio. This is indeed music for grey clouds rolling in at a languid pace.
Movements
1. Moderato
2. Quasi variazione
3. Allegro risulto
