Despite the fact that me and Cooper do have lots of kinky sex, I’d like to think that there’s more to our relationship than “doing the nasty”. I’m not expecting you to investigate out sex lives, that would be creepier than that time you built and molested puppet copies of your choir-mates, and I would be the first to say it’s weird and wrong on every possible level. But you could have the decency not to react to our relationship like a five-year-old would.

Hey, if you two are happy together then more power to you, I'm happy for you. That doesn't mean that I don't find it a little odd that my brother is dating my old coach, but as long as you're happy then that's cool.

Is there any particular reason you started heavily drinking?

… I knew this would come eventually.

I’d like to say yes, but the honest answer is… Not really. I lost my job, I was stressed and at a loss for what to do. I went out with a friend one night and got very, very drunk and it numbed be, made me forget that I was jobless and nowhere else wanted me. And that felt good, for that little while. Forgetting is easy, and even easier still when you add the buzz of alcohol into the mix.

So I started going out more. It started at once a week, and then twice, and then four times, and before I knew it was going out seven nights a week and getting completely wasted. The more I did it, the more I needed it. Everything hurt when I was sober - this was, admittedly, partly due to the intense hangovers that I was getting - and so being drunk was easier. Plus, I could excuse my behaviour when I was drunk, I could do stupid things. I know it’s not really en excuse, but I could laugh it off as something I only did because I was drunk.

As a coping mechanism, I don’t recommend it. I got the shakes and got very tetchy if I didn’t get my fix. The hangovers are horrendous, and I spent my time in one of two states - drunk out of my mind or so hungover I could barely move, which I then obviously combatted with yet more alcohol. I’m doing better now, but I still get severe withdrawal symptoms at times, often to the point where they are so bad I am all but incapacitated.

So to answer your question… I suppose that there is a reason I started drinking so heavily, albeit a very poor one. But take it from me, it is one of the worst coping mechanisms there is, and it is not a road I would advise anyone to go down.

Yes, Dave. I never thought I would ever even like him, much less love him. But it just goes to show that first impressions aren’t everything and sometimes you just need to give people a chance, because they may well end up changing your life for the better.

I assume you mean romantically, so that’s what we’ll go with.

Mine and Dave’s first date was to coffee. It seems simple enough, and I think that we both just wanted to get to know each other a little better before we did anything more serious like dinner. He knew my coffee order and he paid - he later admitted he’d asked Kurt about the coffee order, but it was still cute - and we talked for hours. They had to kick us out in the end, because neither of us wanted to leave. We didn’t kiss that night, not properly - he kissed me on the cheek and wished me a goodnight and said he hoped to see me again. We went on another date two days later and the rest, as they say, is history.
