Yes you heard me right, the best tv show of all time is a fanfic about the Oliver Twist side character Jack Dawkins, aka The Artful Dodger, being a royal naval lieutenant turned surgeon in a penal colony in 1850s Australia who is constantly fighting being sucked back into a life of crime by his pseudo father who he has a complicated, and some may say toxic, father/son relationship with, which also features a class difference romance between him and the governor’s daughter who has a passion for surgery/medicine because she has a life threatening heart condition that only he is willing and skilled enough to operate on.

Oh and it’s all set to an Aussie rock soundtrack.

I just started reading the third book for Lockwood and Co and my favorite thing is the first case they are working on. Like there’s so much chaos…George manages to set Lockwood on fire and then Lucy chucks a water bottle at him to put it out and it hits him in the head and knocks him out the window. They’re more of a danger to him than the ghost at this point and it’s hilarious.

Okay but the way the series cut out the part about Lockwood getting ghost-touched by Annabelle Ward, and low key I can’t help but wonder if maybe they were saving it for later, because oh my gosh, could you imagine the absolute freak out Lucy would have over Lockwood being ghost-touched with all the added backstory they gave her with Norrie? And could you freaking imagine a scene acted by Cameron Chapman where he’s literally DYING of ghost-touch but refuses to get help until he’s made sure Lucy is okay??

What if you were a child soldier elevated to child general and then immediately put out to pasture as soon as soon as you stopped being useful. But you find a way, right? You find a way to do what you can to help the crazy motherfuckers coming up after you so that the war can finally be fucking over. Oh god, let it be over. "Glad I was able to make a contribution. Something I find so absolutely fascinating in Lockwood and Co. is the way in which the text reminds you you're reading about children - the kids live in this world where necessity has forced them to function as adults for most of their lives, but rather than just allowing them to have taken on these adult positions we see them be so silly and sweet. They all have an obnoxious sweet tooth, Lockwood has a bin of costumes and seems to use them wholly unnecessarily and dramatically. He does stupid accents. Hes literally just playing dress up. They're just babies 🥺

I love that in lockwood and co., lockwood is trying to sacrifice himself for the greater good at every waking moment and tells everyone to leave him alone to deal with it but lucy always hangs around with a "bitch you thought" expression on her face

I don’t think we talk enough about how the entirety of Wicked is built on the irony of No One Mourns the Wicked. The musical exists because Glinda feels the need to tell Elphaba’s story, because she is in mourning and entirely alone in that. Glinda’s love is what creates the musical because no one mourns Elphaba except her, and that is an incredibly lonely place to be. She’s just lost two of the most important people to her, and all she’s trying to do is make someone, anyone else see how important they were.
