When I grew up in Marysvale there were many Ponderosa Pines all around town. In the last 50 years most of them have reached end of life (300+ years). Sometimes things just don’t go as planned. When I woke up this morning the plan was to install two 15“ x 36“ rain glass privacy windows in the original bathroom and future bathroom. Upon further consideration of previous remodels, two or three different sized windows that had been installed in this wall, and the bad framing it became apparent it was a much larger job. At the end of the day we removed about 800 pounds of lath and plaster, a 600 pound cast-iron tub, and a bunch of existing framing. We demoed the existing plumbing and capped off the water feeds to this shower. We replumbed the sink and toilet as they can temporarily still be used. We reframed the wall, resheeted the exterior and temporarily installed the new window. Window number two didn’t even get started. Well it started out as a giant jigsaw puzzle that took up two cargo trailers! Tonight it is pretty much a kitchen! Still have to install drawer pulls, door knobs, 1 door and drawer face, bar back, and crown molding, but I’m excited to have most of the goods out of the cargo trailers.
