Sometimes there is no light at all.
Everything just goes dark. The room, the street, even the noise outside disappears.
We light candles. One or two. Sometimes more if we can find them. And the light they give is so small… it feels like it can go out any second.
We sit and do homework like this. Books very close to the candle so we can see the words. Sometimes the letters just blur together and it gets hard to focus.
It’s strange… trying to study when everything around feels uncertain.
We are still just kids. We still talk about school, friends, what to wear tomorrow. We still try to laugh when we can.
But we also know what it’s like when everything suddenly becomes silent because the power is gone again.
And we just wait.
No one our age should be used to this.
We don’t want anything big or special. Just light when we need it. Just normal evenings. Just peace and quiet nights.
And a life where darkness doesn’t come so often anymore.
