Why is the idea that children deserve the same basic human rights as adults so fucking controversial? That's not a hot take, people. Children also deserve to be treated fairly and humanely, to be given choices, to have privacy and bodily autonomy, to have feelings and preferences and opinions and to have those honored whenever possible, to be informed and educated about their lives and the world around them, and to have as much control over their bodies and lives as they can. It's actually really simple.

I want to speak out about the unjust treatment of women in my country, Kazakhstan, and bring this news to public attention so that everyone knows the shameful stance taken by the judicial authority in Astana.

For the first time in Kazakhstan’s judicial history, Judge Seifulla Tasymbetov officially classified the brutal gang rape of a 14 year old girl as consensual sex. This decision effectively legitimizes group violence against a child in the capital city.

Judge Tasymbetov did not simply remain passive; he fully adopted the arguments put forward by Prosecutor Olzhas Khairullayev. During the proceedings, the prosecutor cynically claimed that the defendants choked the teenager because she enjoyed it, and that threats to break her jaw were a natural reaction. The judge accepted this reasoning without question. He ignored fifty direct pieces of evidence of violence, threats, physical injuries, and the victim’s helpless state, and proceeded to approve the lenient Article 122 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This ruling endangers every child in Kazakhstan. The only effective way to respond is to spread this news widely so that it becomes a matter of public shame. It appears that public outcry is the only thing the Kazakh judiciary truly fears.

My friend got sent a request by a user on discord, and she proceeded to send my friend a picture of a newborn with... well, edited or not, with an enlarged male genitalia. It looked like CP. Whilst it may be a troll just trolling users, it is truly CRIMINAL to even possess such a picture of a newborn — hell, ANYONE. I hate how society has someone convinced us that children are these little demons that we genuinely shouldn’t care about because they’re loud, annoying and needy but animals on the other hand are innocent creatures who need to be taken care of and while the latter is true can we also not show some of that compassion to LITERAL children? Can’t you see there’s a reason they want us to hate kids? So when we learn about the horrific shit that they’re doing to children we barely drop a tear and quickly move on so that they can CONTINUE to commit these horrible crimes to these children
