“Speechless.” This was literally all I could say whenever I was asked by my beloved friends at #homecoming2019, “How do you feel??” Sure, the nostalgia and surrealism sunk in, but I could not simply bring justice to the mere fact that I have reunited with my first family away from home, having left Guam after graduating high school to do my undergraduate in a strange yet magical place that is rural Kentucky. Who would have thought that such a historic higher education institution like @bereacollege could have blessed me with an experience that can never be replaced and one that I will never forget? Five years (technically 5.5 for me) have passed since our departure to bigger things, yet it seemed that we never changed who we were, other than #adulting into maturity, and that it was just like yesterday we were in class, passing each other in between, studying, or hanging out. The last time I ever did anything for Halloween was a decent while back. I inadvertently channeled my inner Sienna 🐈 in this one. My week upon arriving back from Amsterdam 🇳🇱 has been nothing but craziness, from moving to a new apartment to preparing for classes. For a moment that seemed like an eternity last night, I was experiencing what I call another depressive episode 💔, ruminating over what if the imposter syndrome is real and whether I’m honestly all alone in the world. Luckily today reminded me that I’m here for a reason, and that I’m in fact not alone. It’s just a matter time to get adjusted to this new chapter of life I guess. Today was bittersweet, as it was my last day at work. The past two days though were filled with love, memories, and perhaps more importantly for me, reminders that folks are thinking of me. There comes a time when we need to remember that we’re not alone, and that your work never goes unappreciated when you do your utmost best to support and uplift those around you. Perhaps fate will bring me back to these folks and their work once more. For now, I’ve done what I can, and it’s time for a new chapter as the page of life turns.
