If it were possible for him to arch an inquisitive brow any higher, he would. “…well then. That’s quite the…interesting question,” Asakim mused. “I do believe I was introduced to the concept during a conversation with Rand over some ‘cold ones’, as he referred to them. Too watered down for my tastes, but I digress. I must admit, I don’t particularly have a preference about the matter one way or the other. Leering at the legs of women is rather unsavory.” 

He pauses.

“…though, if we were being candid, I suppose I could say I have a type.”

He stood up, shaking her hand. “Of course. A pleasure.” Asakim throws his arms wide open, as if he were announcing something grand. “I am quite fond of exotic regions such as this. I am from Kalos, you see. But, alas, I do have quite a bit of wanderlust. I’ve crossed many regions, fighting trainers far and wide. This is merely my latest stop.” 

Dramatic clothes and dramatic gestures. Ah, so he was just like this, then. Got it.

“Well, that’s quite an impressive distance to wander, then.” The only reason she could get between Kalos and Alola so easily was because she could literally teleport whenever she wanted. “So you’re a trainer, then?”

He nods. “Indeed! The burden of travel is much easier to bear with faithful companions, I find.” Asakim pulls his cloak back a bit to reveal multiple Pokeballs hanging off his belt- a plain one, a Dusk ball, a Quick ball, a Nest ball, a Premier ball, and a Luxury ball. 

“I must admit, I approach you with secondary intentions. I would like to challenge you to a battle, if I may.”

“Pleasure to meet you,” she said with a smile of her own. Lorelei offered her hand to shake. “Like you already guessed, I’m Lorelei Snow.”

Breathable or not, he certainly cut a memorable figure. “What brings you wandering here, then?”

He stood up, shaking her hand. “Of course. A pleasure.” Asakim throws his arms wide open, as if he were announcing something grand. “I am quite fond of exotic regions such as this. A Pokemon trainer dressed in a black trenchcoat approaches. In fact, he's dressed entirely in black- black pants, black shoes... "Pardon me if I am interrupting anything, but would you happen to be Lorelei? I'm quite a fan of your work."

Lo had actually been signing a kid’s journal when he approached; they ran off, delighted, just before he spoke.

“Yeah, that’s me-” she stopped as she took in the sight of him - gracious, wasn’t he warm? It was already April…

Asakim pauses, then looks down at his attire. He laughs. “Perhaps impractical on first sight, but believe me, this is quite breathable.” Brushing one of his violet bangs aside, a smile graces his features. “Allow me to introduce myself. I am Asakim Dowin, wanderer of this fine world.” He bows graciously in a rather grandiose manner.

“Firebug is filled with foul people, Asakim. Or at least that’s what I’ve heard, but meeting with that woman only proved A point. Ironically Crowe had told me recently that he used to be in Firebug.” Shaking her head again, she sighs. “He really doesn’t seem like the type of man to be in there, even if he is the way he is now.”

She thinks for a moment, before she realizes what the rainflower actually symbolizes. Why she knows these  things, who knows. Perhaps it just made her curious back when she found out about them? ah well. “Rainflower… I can see why. Sort of. You are pretty mysterious after all.” Theres a weak laugh. “I’m a little more simple I suppose. I used to favor the lily but I changed my mind at some point to hydrangea and lavender.”

“They’ll have to watch where they tread, then....I do not tolerate those who have no reservations about trampling on the beauty of life.” He glowers some, but it quickly fades. “Hm....it makes sense, upon dwelling on it. Crowe is a haunted man.” 

Yes, the rainflower...while it and the black rose both had their meanings, the rainflower was, honestly, the one he dwelt upon the most. An individual he had yet to find, yet to apologize to.... 

He chuckles at her comment about him being mysterious. “It is not by design, I assure you.” Asakim seems relaxed now- he’s talking with a friend, after all. “Hm...you are quite the guarded type. But you are loyal to your companions, as well....much like a locked door, you are hard to look into, but once it has been unlocked and opened, there is much more to you.”

“Hm….that is the witch who dresses as a young girl to lie about her true age, yes?” Asakim…rather visibly rolls his eyes. He doesn’t seem to think too highly of Marilyn. “The detestable banshee is not one to be underestimated. Though, judging by your condition, I believe you have learned your lesson.” 

Another pause.

The dark emissary reached into his cloak, pulling out a black rose. “A gift. Consider it my condolences.” He set it on the stand next Ilibis’ bed. 

“I don’t know much about her, but she told me she was the leader of firebug and that she was looking for Crowe. peaking of him… I wonder how Esther and him are doing considering I… have been far too afraid to actually ask about them when Traia comes in.” She sighs, giving a slow nod and watching him place the black rose. “I have… And, Why am I not surprised you have one of those on you. It suits you, you know. The black roses.”

“She is a foul creature.” That is all he would say; he’d only crossed paths with her once or twice, but what Asakim had seen of the woman, he despised. “I am not the one to ask. I do not concern myself with their affairs.” 

A low laugh looses from his throat, his lips quirking up into a light smile. “What can I say? Black roses hold my attention moreso than others. Though...admittedly, I am also fond of the rainflower.”

Asakim quirked a brow inquisitively. “Might I ask what you did to end up in this condition, Ilibis?” He asked, staring at her. “Unlike Crowe, you aren’t foolhardy and brash. Do tell, child.” The Dark Stranger paused. “Oh, yes. I give you well wishes for a prompt recovery,” he added as an afterthought. 

“I… had the unfortunate meeting with Marylin. And.. I’m not sure why but… I waited until the last minute to call for help. perhaps I wasn’t thinking straight when she told me who she was…” Shakes her head slowly. “Once I called for help, and by the time Esther arrived, it was too late. I don’t even remember what happened.. I think I called while I was losing conciousness.”

‘Fucking great.’

Selena doesn’t open her eyes after hearing the voice of….whatever this guy is supposed to be. Hallucination, a real person, she honestly didn’t care. As long as she gets her alcohol and fix, it doesn’t matter.

She doesn’t even move from her spot on the couch, still half-asleep from her nap. “What is it?”

Next excursion.

So there’s more to what he just showed her. Of course, now that she had a million unanswered questions…she would have to go if she wanted to find out how the medical facility was connected to her Father. Why she didn’t know about it.

“Sure.”

He nodded. “Very well then. So it shall be done.” Asakim bowed, which....was rather elegant. Something about his tall, slender build and the flowing cloak that draped over him went together quite well. “I shall depart from you for now. Of course....I won’t truly be absent. Merely out of sight.” With one last mysterious grin, he vanished.

‘Fucking great.’

Selena doesn’t open her eyes after hearing the voice of….whatever this guy is supposed to be. Hallucination, a real person, she honestly didn’t care. As long as she gets her alcohol and fix, it doesn’t matter.

She doesn’t even move from her spot on the couch, still half-asleep from her nap. “What is it?”

Regarding her, the Dark Stranger sighed. Did he feel an ounce of pity? Perhaps. This child had, ultimately, had everything stolen from her. He was merely putting her on the path to recover that.

Tilting his head slightly, he narrowed his eyes, before reaching out…and gently patting Selena’s head. “No more,” he parroted. “You are through for today.”

For once in two years, Selena feels grateful at his confirmation, an emotion she hadn’t felt for so long. She was surprised that he was actually putting her feelings in thought. 

“…Thank you.”

Asakim smiled. 

“Of course.” At the end of the day, he was merely an extension of her; his best wishes were what she wanted....whether she knew it or not. “I understand I may have presented you with an excess of information....my apologies. I shall take matters at your desired pace upon our next excursion. How does that sound?”

Asakim knelt down, making eye contact with her. “I am sure it is a lot to process. However, when you have made sense of what I have shown you today, child….that is when I shall return.”

“Stop. Just…no more. No more of this.” It was all too much for her as her knees gave out and Selena sank to the ground. A quiet sob escaped her lips.

It wasn’t until her apartment was back into view that Selena snapped out of her trance-like state. Of course it didn’t stop the questions from running through her mind.

‘What the hell is going on?’

Selena just wraps her arms around herself as she tried to not fall on her knees. So many emotions were colliding at once. so much that her head started to hurt. Her mouth formed a stuttering “what?”, but she couldn’t vocalize the word. She was too confused to do anything else but think about what she just witnessed.

Asakim knelt down, making eye contact with her. “I am sure it is a lot to process. However, when you have made sense of what I have shown you today, child....that is when I shall return.”

Asakim looked on. “There are many things the upper echelons fail to tell their subordinates, Selena. Are you surprised that even you, the great daughter of Full Frontal were kept in the dark?”

She wanted to say that yes, she was surprised that she had no knowledge about this facility from her Father. Even if she hadn’t been told, she would’ve stumbled upon information.

But why did she not know about this place before? Was this confidential enough that only very few people knew? Selena just keeps her sight on the emblem, paying no mind to Asakim.

Asakim silently watched. “...I believe that is enough for now,” he finally said. With a snap of his fingers, the world melted back into place, Selena’s apartment replacing the dark and oppressing room. 

“Perhaps you shall dwell on this, and come to have an epiphany.”

On the wall was the emblem of the Sleeves.

Asakim followed her gaze, then smiled. “Oho? My, my,” the specter cooed in a tone indicating he knew something. “How fascinating.”

It was as if time stopped for Selena. Her eyes were practically glued to the emblem on the wall. So many questions were rushing through her mind.

“I…I…” She was completely speechless. Why was that emblem on the wall? What the hell is going on here?

Asakim looked on. “There are many things the upper echelons fail to tell their subordinates, Selena. Are you surprised that even you, the great daughter of Full Frontal were kept in the dark?”
